A few different times now the capacitive buttons stopped working. They don't light up, they don't work, and there is no haptic feedback from them. It always happens after a restart, but not the first restart.
I have tried factory reset and that didn't work. I had to flash my phone using Verizon's repair assistant to fix the problem.
The second time it happened I thought it was due to installing that Galaxy Lights app everyone is talking about. I booted into safe mode, uninstalled the app and restarted. Once I did it worked for a few more days before it happened again.
A few minutes ago it happened again. This time I haven't installed that app or any other apps that would affect the buttons. I am rooted with Ping Pong but I haven't done anything other than remove a few bloatware items and use Titanium Backup.
The capacitive buttons are garbage in my opinion and I constantly accidentally hit them. Not to mention they are backwards. I would like to disable them completely and enable the soft buttons like on the Nexus 5. Is this possible?
For some reason, my capacitive buttons next to the home button aren't lighting up. Did Samsung do away with this? Since I'm used to the way they work, I know where to push the button to go back or to open recently opened apps but I'd like to have them lit if I could.
I bought new lcd..because my old one cracked. The process of change run smooth.. But when i turn on phone my capacitive buttons doesn't react. The lighs turn on when phone Boots and shutdown.
So my questions are:
-can be lcd defective? -only thing that communicate is lcd flat cable connect to mainboard? -buttons zone are controlled by digitizer right? Or are related with power board where buttons are?
I don't know if I post this in the right section. I just wanted to let others know that I've found a way to disable the light from capacitive buttons even if the phone is not in Power Saving Mode, and ofc without any third party software. You dial *#0*# and you go to the bottom and press "Black". Now, if you hold the power button you can chose to restart the phone and the backlight will stay off. If you press volume up key after you pressed "Black" it will just exit.At first I was thinking I broke my phone. Then I realise how it works.
My brand new Lumia 900 has light bleeding onto the screen from the capacitive button's backlight. There is also light coming out on the leftside between the glass and the polycarbonate.
where the capacitive button LEDs seem to randomly turn on/off, or don't turn on in the dark, or seem to flicker for no apparent reason? We had the same issue with our 1020. It appears to be directly related to battery saver mode in settings. When we turn battery saver off, the LEDs seem to work perfectly. When battery saver is on, we experience all the above strange issues. We also have a 920, and battery saver mode does not affect the LEDs on the 920 at all, hence why we're hesitant to say with100% authority that this is the issue with the 1020.
Recently the back, and start buttons on my 1520 have not been turning on, or flickering. The search button has not shown any signs of the issue. The buttons still work, and have no functionality issues.
It started randomly, and I notice if I press on certain parts of the phone, the lights may go on or off. They may also go on or off of their own accord.
I had dropped my phone a few days prior, but there was no visible damage, and the issue was delayed.
I'm assuming this is a hardware issue and I would need to replace it in order to fix it, but are there other possibilities?
While in landscape mode (I first noticed this while watching Netflix). In the corner near the search capacitive button I noticed the lighting for the capacitive button seeps out a little, like a very small amount. It doesn't overwhelm the screen or anything. When holding my phone upright and looking down towards the capacitive buttons, I do notice some light coming out from the left and right corners. if this is because of the design and is normal? Or is it a flaw in the phone?!
how to manage when capacitive buttons (settings, home, back, search) lights on, because, when I use my Moto in night, I need to guess where is Home and Back buttons.
After the upgrade to lollipop 5.11, my "back" and "recent/menu" buttons do not work. The do not light, nor do they do anything. I've tried the recommended display and power setting fixes, but they do not fix my phone. I've also done a factory reset, but the problem is still there, even in safe mode. Several apps I use a lot are now totally unusable because they don't have their own back and menu keys. Is there any answer outside of downgrading to 5.0?
I installed the new update 5.1.1 and after that. They both have stopped working. I have to wait for my phone to shut off and to exit apps, I have to use the app button which I don't like that much.
Have a Galaxy S2 on Sprint network and out of nowhere yesterday the home/menu/back/search buttons stopped working and the phone is running really slow. It came back for like 5 min yesterday afternoon but then started again. I've already done the factory reset and it's still the same way. If I press the call, message, contact buttons on the home screen nothing works. Can someone tell me what to do?
I'm finding it really annoying that sometimes when typing part of my palm hits the corner of the phone which brings up the multi task window. Is there a way to reduce the sensitivity of the keys?
It would of been good if they only work when hitting the centre of them and not the edge of the phone.
I got an S6 Edge Gold phone last week and noticed a weird duplication of backlight reflections of the capacitive keys.
There is an original light, and then there are two more reflections which is very weird. I can tell they are reflections because as I tilt the phone those two reflections change angles while the original light stays in its spot.
The issue is also with the notification color lights. When ever it blinks I see two reflections (one above and one below). So it looks like a grain of rice instead of a small circle.
Please see the image below for a better understanding:
My inspection of the device tells me that theres something wrong when the different layers of glasses were stacked. I have looked at some other Edge phones and they don't have this issue.
I have also seen that when very bright light shines in all angles and when the phone is tilted (with screen turned off) and observed carefully I see diagonal lines on the entire screen with a space of about 5mm each. It is very hard to see them, and when I turn the screen on I can't see any flaw.
I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, but I believe that these instructions should work on the S6 as well. On the Note 4, there was an option to adjust the Capacitive buttons lights - always on, always off, 1.5, and 6 seconds. On the S6, this option was removed from some variants (I believe that the AT&T version still has this option). If your phone doesn't have this option, then you can change the capacitive button light settings through ADB.
1. If you haven't done so, you will need to set up SDK on the PC/Mac first: Installing the Android SDK for Windows, Mac and Linux: A tutorial | Android Central
2. Enable Developer options by going into settings-about phone, and press on the Build Number 7 times.
3. Plug in the phone into the computer. Wait until the phone is recognized in the File Explorer (in Windows 8 on the Metro Screen, type "File Explorer", and select it). It should say Samsung-SM-G925V (or similar) in File Exporer
3. Go to Settings-Developer options, and enable USB debugging. A pop up menu will prompt you if you want the computer access, so select "Yes".
4. Go to the Command Prompt(in Windows 8 on the metro screen, tpye "command prompt", and select it) and type "ADB devices". You should see a device connected.
5. On the Command Line, Type "adb shell settings put system button_key_light 0" to disable capacitive lights.
The options are:
"adb shell settings put system button_key_light 0" -> always disable the capacitive button lights "adb shell settings put system button_key_light -1" -> always enable the capacitive button lights "adb shell settings put system button_key_light 1500" -> always disable the capacitive button lights after 1.5 seconds "adb shell settings put system button_key_light 6000" -> always disable the capacitive button lights after 6.0 seconds "adb shell settings get system button_key_light" -> get the current setting (standard: 1500, ie. 1.5 seconds)
Some buttons are not working so I can't enter password or default "Blackberry" password to gain access to phone. Basically Vodafone are buying this handset back off but I need to wipe all data from phone first.
I am experiencing since yesterday a rather annoying thing on my HTC ONE 4.3 (unbranded). In some Sense apps (Gallery, Mail, Music, People) some on screen buttons have become unresponsive.
The "three dots" menu button on the top right side of the screen does not react, as well as the "share" icon in the Gallery app. Same problem with the three dots menu button on Mail, Music and People (these are the apps I tested so far).
Its started happening yesterday but I've been running 4.3 for a couple of weeks now. I have the feeling it might be a Sense 5.5 issue rather than a 4.3 bug, because it. only affects the original Sense apps, not any other app that I have downloaded.
My buttons first were doing some funny stuff with the letter "L" nd "M" and also the "del" button now none of my buttons are working @ all, just my scroller is (It has not been exposed to water)i cannot do anything anymore cant even answer calls, read msgs or get info off my device?
Not to sure what happened but no buttons working on my iPhone (incl volume, silent switch home or on/off). I have done a back up. How can I reset my phone? Phone was working fine all day until the button thing. It's like it froze and can't come backÂ
i Can receive calls and when that happens I can access the settings field. I have turned off screen lock in the home to deplete the batter.
I started to have this problem yesterday. The power and volume down buttons are just unresponsive, so the only way to unlock my phone now is to use the camera button. I've tried resetting the phone and it didn't help, so I'm guessing not a software issue, but hardware. Should I just return it to the store for repair/new
and yeah, the reset was done via Settings, not soft or hard reset since the buttons aren't working.
On my iphone 4, the volume buttons all of a sudden stopped turning up or down the volume. This is also bad because I cant do bitesms quick reply. Im sure that this is a software issue but does anyone know what the problem is or what cydia app/theme/etc would have caused this?
I have an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 3GS jailbroken to 4.0.1. On both of them the home buttons do not work all of the time. If I restart them the functionality sometimes comes back. But both have activator and sbsettings installed.
So i always lock my phone and i guess ive locked it too many times? cuz none of the buttons work except for the volume ones. Ive also tryed to update it and take out the battery for 5 mins and still nothing has happened. since i updated it the only thing that shows is the agreement thing and went the screen goes blank only the volume ones get the screen back. it does have water damage but that was a while ago
So I've had my Blackberry Curve 8520 since around October 2010 so my warranty has run out a long time ago. Basically, the problem is that every single button on the phone does not work. When I say every single button I mean keyboard, the green and red phone button, the back button, the menu button, the audio, camera and side buttons, the music control buttons, literally just every single button. I doubt it is water damage because this happened back in March or so and I just gave up trying to fix it and I tried it again today to see if maybe it finally got dry after a few months. Is it possible for the buttons to just stop working? Before all the buttons broke, I had problems with the O button. It was sometimes working and sometimes not working, then every button just broke. Also when all the buttons were broken, I was sometimes able to just button spam and it would work for a few seconds then just not work again.
I am having a massive problem with the buttons on my phone at the moment, I recently updated my phone and ever since I did that all of the buttons on my phone keep stop working then start working again once I repeatedly tap my buttons or smack my phone in rage. This is highly annoying when you urgently want to get hold of someone and your stood there tapping your phone trying to get it to work. My phone isn't water damaged and it has never been near water. I have had my phone for a total of 1 year and four months so its not a brand new model..Or has anyone experienced the same problem as me and got it fixed?
