View 24 RepliesI turn my phone off at night, watch it go through its shut down procedure and in the morning it is back on again. My wife's also does not stay off. Can't say if it is everytime or just some. I know many of you do not turn your phones off but if you could check this it would be great.

Samsung Galaxy S5 (Verizon)
I've never had a problem connecting to my home wifi, everything was working fine on Friday, I left the house, went to my girlfriends and my phone connected to her wifi without a problem as usual. I returned home on Saturday and my S5 failed to connect to my wifi, I connected it manually and it connects and disconnects almost instantly. I have 5 other devices including a samsung galaxy note 4 in the house which all work perfectly fine. I've tired switching the router off and on again and that makes no difference, I removed the phone battery for 5 minutes and it then connects to the wifi for about 5-10 seconds then again disconnects, what else I can try....
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have owned a galaxy s6 edge for three or four months now and for the last month or so, the location setting has been turning itself on. I have noticed that this only happens when I have some form of internet connection (4g or wifi).
I checked the location services menu and it says that no apps have recently requested my location so why this is turning on. I have also moved my location quick setting to the end of the scrollable quick settings so there is no possibility of turning it on accidentally.
I don't want it to know where I am (data protection and all that).
Android version : 5.1.1
My previous phone was HTC Wildfire S (stock Android 2.3.3) and I was able to receive and send MMS with data connection turned off. Simply, when I send MMS phone automatically turn on data connection. Same, when somebody send MMS to me, Wildfire S automatically turn on data connection and retrieve MMS. Now I am using Samsung Galaxy S2. I have to keep data connection always on if I want to send and receive MMS. I don't want data connection to be always on because I haven't flat data plan. I tried Quick Setting app. It change APN for internet and keeps data connection always on (do not modify MMS settings). At this way I can use MMS normally, but my battery drain for just 8 hours!

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had this phone since May and kept it in perfect condition but It all started Thursday, i got home and noticed my phone switching on and off wifi, not updating apps, no fb messager notifications, getting hot and losing alot of battery life, and not searching for update.
I have T mobile and people say just turn off smart Wifi switch and i did but my phones slow with those problems while on Wifi still even with a 100+MB connection.
When Wifi is off though it works perfectly...
When i try to turn on my wifi button, sometimes nothing happens, the other times it quickly turns on then off. This means i am not even able to scan for networks. Also makes the whole phone lag.Sometimes if just says "turning on...." but nothing happens
When screen rotation is turned on on the wifi page, the screen rotates 90 degrees but leaves the left side of the screen black, then after 3 seconds properly rotates. The only way to back out of the wifi page, is to continually press the home button, the back button doesnt work. When not on the wifi page the phone doesnt lag anymore.
I turn the WiFi off in the notification panel, but it keeps turning on and connecting to a WiFi signal I don't want it to. Even if I tell it to forget that network, it pops up again and connects to it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis past weekend, I went to my cabin for the first time with my new S6 Edge. During the drive, I had no Sprint (home) coverage, but there was roaming coverage.
My problem is this. Whenever I roamed, my WiFi would automatically kick in and connect to my GoPro (dash camera). Obviously, my GoPro WiFi does not provide any internet access, so my phone would loose all data connectivity, meaning I don't get text messages or e-mails (I use Google Hangouts, converts texts to data).
I would disable the WiFi on the cellphone from the swipe-down menu, but 1 minute later it would just reactivate itself and connect to my GoPro. I even watched it this by keeping the swipe-down menu open and watched the WiFi button go from gray (disabled) to yellow (enabled) without me touching anything. I eventually disabled the wifi on my GoPro, but this is not ideal because I had another device connected to keep an eye on what it sees. I obviously lost this other device when I turned the wifi off in the gopro.
The wifi would still keep enabling itself, but it would have no network to connect to, so it continued to use my roaming data as expected. However, since the wifi was on, it drained my battery faster, and it would still enable itself whenever I turned it off.
I did disable the Connection Optimizer, verified I had roaming data and voice enabled (Domestic), etc. Is there something else that would force the wifi to become enabled when I don't want it to?
I would also like to point out it does not do this when I am connected to Sprint's network, even if I don't have data on Sprint's network. It only does it when I am roaming.
I can not get my galaxy s5 to automatically connect to 4G after being connected to wifi, the smart network switch is activated however it doesn't make any difference. the only way for me to reconnect to my network is to restart the device.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a new android user. The problem I'm having is that when my wifi drops out or if I come home the Internet on my phone does not switch back from mobile data to wifi. I'm with bigpond and I have put the password into my phone and I don't need to put the password in each time but when I go to wifi settings it says sign in required and I press connect and the wifi turns on. As soon as I come home or the Internet drops out it switched back to 3G and doesn't connect back to wifi unless I do what I mentioned above.
The advanced setting on the wifi are
Proxy-none
Ip settings DHCP
Signal strength- very strong
Security wpa2 psk
I also have the smart network switch toggled to off. I have reset my telstra router.
I've wasted a lot of my mobile data this week before I realised that when I left the house or the net dropped out my phone was staying on 3G and not switching back to wifi the way my iPhone and every other phone I've owned did.
My phone will no longer automatically connect to saved WiFi networks. It knows they're there, because if I go to Settings -> WiFi, it shows up in the list as a "saved" one. Tapping on it and selecting "connect" does nothing. I have to turn off the WiFi and turn it back on, and it will then automatically connect.
Additionally, WiFi will not stay off. If I'm some place I don't want it to connect to WiFi, I turn it off so that I don't get messages that networks are available (specifically when I'm driving, it's really annoying to deal with that over Waze).
I've got a Sprint GS5, running stock (not rooted), on 5.0. No updates available for the phone. It does this on every WiFi network I have saved (home, school, and school apartment, among others). I've also tried turning Smart Switch off and on, it makes no difference for either issue.
I got my Nexus 5 on the 2nd of this month. I'm on Android 4.4.4. Just today, I was out and about and I realized that, although I was going into settings and turning Wi-Fi off, it just kept turning it right back on! (I had been using the Wi-Fi at the mall, then later I went to a friend's house and connected to my friend's Wi-Fi, which did not work.) So, I turned on my data, only for it to turn off after I guess about 30 seconds. I turned it back on, went on WhatsApp, in the middle of replying to a text from my friend it goes off yet again! What the... So, I went into settings and turned data on, and Wi-Fi off. As I watched, the Wi-Fi switched itself back on, and, predictably, even though there were no wireless networks to connect to, my data turned off as well.
This is really inconvenient. What could be causing the problem? I don't think I've downloaded any apps recently, but they do sometimes update. It was working fine on Thursday, but I've had my data off since then. I also booted into Safe Mode, and the problem doesn't seem to persist.
my xperia x8 is turning on automatically and never been off, while in standby.

However, the phone randomly disconnects from WiFi...well, not really disconnects, but until I take the phone out of standby mode, the WiFi logo doesn't appear at the top of the screen, and I have no connection until I do that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having issues keeping my X7 disconnected to my wi-fi network. I disconnect it and it reconnects itself even though I have set:
Menu > settings >connectivity >
1. Wi-Fi > Options > settings > show wi-fi availability > never
2. settings > switch to wi-fi > manual
And while I'm at it, how do I remove known networks? Maybe that will stop it if I remove the "known" network...
I've tested/used MyWi several times since installing it yesterday, and each time the WiFi on my phone stays on after stopping/closing MyWi, and I have to go manually turn off WiFi afterwards.
View 10 Replies View RelatedUpgraded to iOS 5.1.1 on my Verizon iPhone 4s and am now having trouble connecting (and staying connected) to WiFi via a NETGEAR router. My wife's iPhone 4 and iPad (newest model) do not have the same problem as we have not upgraded to the latest software on them.

Since it was new and running iOS 5.0.1, my 4S hasn't wanted to stay connected to wifi. When I enable wifi in the settings menu, it has no problem finding wifi networks, but when it goes to join them, it can take upwards of 45 seconds to actually connect. Once it connects, it functions perfectly fine using wifi up until the phone gets locked. After locking the phone, it loses its wifi connection and will not reconnect on its own, whereas most iPhones will grab the wifi connection again automatically within a second of unlocking the phone. I've tried using this phone on multiple wifi networks, including an unsecured network, a WPA2 network, and multiple public wifi hotspots, so I think I can rule out any router setup issues. I've done a full restore of the phone, I tried resetting the network settings, and I upgraded to iOS 5.1.1, all to no avail. Is there anything else I can try, or is it safe to call that this is a hardware issue that needs to be resolved at the Genius Bar?

i will connect to wifi, and everything will be ok when im on the phone. but when i lock it and set it down for awhile then go to unlock it the 3G is there and not the wifi symbol. i am wanting to know why that is. it hasn't done it before until now. i recenlty restored my phone because of some other issues my phone was having. those issues are fixed as far as i can tell. but this issue has just appeared. i have also been away from home so i am not on my home wifi, i am on my friends wifi. i feel as if my phone doing this that it is killing my battery alot faster then it should.

Whenever I'm at home my wifi in certain areas will randomly cut out. Half the time this happens when I go to wifi in my settings it will say I'm connected but when I try and open something up again the wifi cuts out, the other half of the time it will take a minute to re-find my wifi network. This only happens on my phone, I've been in the exact same places as my friends who also have iPhone 5's or 4's and they never lose the wifi connection. I've tried forgetting the wifi network and resigning in but that doesn't work. I don't think it's the wifi connector I think it's my phone but I don't know how to fix it.
