I have been experiencing some pretty bad battery life with my 1020. It was getting to the point that with moderate use it was in battery saver mode within 8 hours. I shut off many background tasks, turned off 2 of my 4 email addresses and did some testing. In standby mode the phone dropped from 69% to 55% in about a half hour after a restart. Exasperated I turned off Double Tap to Wake after noticing the 'drains battery' warning. I then charged the phone and went to sleep. Today, with similar usage as normal (about an hour of streaming music, 2 push email accounts, web browsing, texting, etc.) I made it 8 hours and only dropped 39%.
Around a week ago I used a friends 'selfie stick'. The same day I was walking around Windsor and noted that the phone had powered down. I tried pressing the power key, but the phone did not turn on. I took the battery out, replaced it and then the phone came back on.
The problem now seems to reoccur when I have put my phone in my back pocket and either walk some distance, or keep it in my back pocket in the car (for some reason).
I've seen many people claim that enabling 'double tap to wake' will drain your battery faster. On the settings page where you enable this setting, Nokia even says "this reduces battery life". I tried to measure it myself. After doing a number of normal discharge cycles with the feature enabled, I did one with it disabled. I didn't change any other settings. I used the phone normally in both runs - very similar usage.
I found that disabling this setting produced no significant change in battery life. In both runs that I compared, my battery level was at about 20% after about 3 days. See the attached graphs for my results. The first graph is with the setting on. After just a little under 3 days it was very close to 20%. The second graph is with the setting off. After exactly 3 days it was a little above 20%. These results are not exactly the same but I don't think they're significantly different. Not as different as I was expecting.
I bought a s6 always had samsungs .. it has no booklet and i think its in sleep mode ... its not letting me get to main settings and i have to double screen tap every letter ?
I am trying to set up double twist on my new s5, so I installed and found when I was syncing the music from iTunes I ran out of hard drive space on the phone. I purchased an SD card, transferred music files over to it, but I now have a new problem.
When I go to sync double twist again, it attempts to rewrite all of the files to the main hard drive instead of the SD card, in effect duplicating all of the files. Is there a setting I can change to force the files to write to the SD card?
I updates my s5 to lollipop over the weekend. When in messages if i lock the phone, its makes the sound screen goes black and makes the sound again. If i hit the lock button again it opens straight into the messages. If i lock again the samething happens. If i hut the home button it opens straight into messages again. Only way to get it to lock is to exit the app to home screen.
I was looking through my settings and was trying to test out a feature, forget exact feature but it either involved hitting the home button 3 times or it was holding the home and volume down buttons at the same time (I am guessing it was some combination of these two that activated my issue). I can not remember the exact feature as I was fiddling through the entire Settings menu for awhile before this happened . Regardless of the feature, I somehow managed to put my phone into a mode where everything requires a double tap to select and it has made using the phone near impossible.
When I attempt to tap something, lets say the Google toolbar for example, I get a blue box that surrounds the selected item and I get a vibration (that didnt happen before) & nothing happens. Unless I do a rapid double tap the app/icon/whatever will just become highlighted. Once I do the double tap and manage to get Google Now open, it becomes impossible to input text, it seems the double tap sometimes will select a letter, but it takes multiple attempts to even get the letter to register and by the time it does i end up with 4 of the same letter.
Oddly if i just single tap a letter or tap on a blank area of my home screen, I get what feels like a quarter powered vibration. This issue extends to every input on the phone, and when I say that everything requires a double tap I do mean EVERYTHING - I had to type this message with my fiances phone because I could not even manage to type it out on my own phone. I can not even manage to bring down my notification pullbar from up top because it ALL requires a double tap!
How to get rid of this and revert back to normal? I would prefer if I did not have to perform a factory reset...
I started google calendar notifications to my email before I had a smart phone.... on my old Galaxy S4 I didn't have this problem. I have my default set up to send email (was supposed to be only to my computer) days before and hours before as a reminder. Now that I have my GS5 phone and have sync'd it with my calendar I get double notifications for some things and I cant get it to turn off. I dont want to turn off all my notifications? I turned off my email notifications on my phone but that doesn't stop me from getting double Notifications Texts and sound?
Since installing ICS I cannot connect to Double Twist. Whichever of two options (MTP and Camera Mode) I try it will not connect. On gingerbread you had different USB connection options. How to connect to Double Twist or tried it?
I'm just curious about a 'bug'. I connected my bluetooth headset and I get double notifications. I hear them on the headset and the phone plays them aswell. Tested with several bluetooth devices such as a car or a stereo. Is this 'bug' known? Is there a fix?
So, I just had to update my phone & I absolutely hate all the changes. For once, when I open up a text message & begin to reply, I always have to hit the letter key twice before it actually appears in the message box. If not, the first letter I type is always left out.
Occasionally my double-clicking of the home button does not launch my camera. To get that working again I have to go into setting turn off that feature and turn it back on.
I just got the C2-01 phone this past Thursday , purchased in Israel, and I don't have any status indicators on the home screen, just a blue question mark in a white square with a blue border, located a little to the left of center at the top of the screen. Any ideas what I can do about that? I already checked in the display menu and turned indicators on, and I already restored the phone to factory settings while keeping my personal info. I have not yet updated the software - the phone is running v. 11.20, but PC suite is busy right now and won't let me update.
My daughter recently inherited an env2.In playing around with the phone, she somehow "hid" all of the icons/indicators (battery, 1x and EVDO).I cannot figure out what she did. I've tried a battery pull to no avail. Any idea of how to "unhide" these?
The BlackBerry icon that normally appears between the GPS and Bluetooth indicators has disappearedbut BBM still seems to work. I wonder what the icon is for
Just setup my new, (used) Droid 2. got everything to work except. I can NOT get the LED to light. I even let the battery run low, and on the droid 1, the led would blink, not this one.
Is there something that is known about this, or something I can change or test? Or, did I buy a Droid 2 with a faulty LED?
My phone is a Motorola Electrified, I have an icon in the status bar in the very upper right hand corner next to the time that looks like a transparent folder with a check mark in the center of it. I have looked in the manual and it is not shown.
I have a new iPhone 4 and a cup of water fell on it today. The water damage indicators did not turn red but they both now have a gray spot on them both. Is this an indicator of water damage for apple?
So when I was sleeping on the couch, my phone and a bottle of water were next to me on the ground. Somehow someway, I think I dropped the bottle of water and obviously water went in it.
Woke up this morning, phone doesn't turn on it, but it feels a bit wet. I open the cover, there was some water on the cover, took out the batter tiny bit of water too. Got a towel and dried it all out (wasn't alot). Not knowing that one shouldn’t turn it back on, I put the battery back in, nothing happens (red light doesn't go on). Turn it on, nothing. I know for a fact the battery didn't die out.
Googled around and found out that I wasn't suppose to turn it on, then read about the indicators, basically they have to be all white, which thank god they are, i.e. the one on top of the battery and the one stuck in the phone, where the battery is placed. Also read the rice and bowl trick, which I just did. So going to leave it for at least 12 hours or so and take it from there. question is I guess, is there any hope, or it's done, coz I put the battery back in and tried turning it on.
The WiFi and celluar signal icons will occasionally turn grey for a minute, and then go back to blue.I thought that this meant there was a loss of connectivity, however when the icons turn grey I can still connect to the Internet and the signal bars always indicate a strong signal when this happens. I suppose it's possible that connectivity was actually lost for a moment, and it may take the icons a few seconds to update back to the blue color again, hard to say.
Really poor day with the phone today. All day (motly midtown Manhattan) my phone was bouncing from 3G to 4G to white indicators. It was getting very hot. Tried power down, airplane mode, it was not staying connected to Google and chewing through the battery. I was in and out of areas with poor/no signal a few times but for the most part I was in a good signal area (3 bars). I was able to get calls and had three bars (even when the indicators were white) as I expected
I don't know if this is an issue but it did not happen with my Droid X and I'm concerned it may affect battery life. When I turn wifi on, the little "3G" or "4G" symbol remains on, although it does turn white indicating no connection (I guess). On my Droid X the symbol would disappear with wifi on, although the signal strength bars remained
went for a long bike ride on Sunday in wet conditions with my Blackberry in my cycling jersey.May have got wet.Keyboard will not now work.Switches on, receives text and some email messages but no phone calls and will not respond to any keys. Have taken battery out and re-inserted.No "joy".Tried the "reset" (Alt, Del, R Shift) again no "joy".Flying today, only way to tun-off phone was to remove the battery.
