Galaxy S5 :: Contacts Storage 5Gb Since Software Upgrade
Oct 26, 2015
So...today I did the software update that came up on my Galaxy S5. Since it installed I keep getting notifications that my storage space is running out. I checked the storage data and for some reason the Storage Contacts are taking up almost 5GB! I only have about 50 contacts, so why so much space is being taken up. I have moved/uninstalled every app I can to free up space, but to no avail...I can't even access my contacts now!
Why are the contacts on my Samsung Galaxy s5 different colors after the Lollipop upgrade? I can see no reason why they are different colors. I would like to know what each color represents and if you can change the colors.
Purchased storage space because iPhone said I was to low. It directed me to iCloud where I purchased more space. Tried to download and upgrade and it still said I'm to low. How do I get my iphone4 to use the storage space?
I now use a Torch 9800. This is my first cell with touch screen. When on Contacts, I find very unsafe the red cross for deleting contacts positioned at the bottom, right hand side of the touch screen. This position is just the centre of gravity of the device when the keyboard is out. So it is easy to put the thumb on it when holding the device. Out of many times this happens to me, from time to time it happens that I delete a contact with some other unintentional touch on the screen. As the easiest immediate solution I would suggest to take that function out of that corner. A more drastic solution is to keep the touch screen input operational only when the keyboard is closed. When it is open the user will make use of the keyboard and presumably he/she does not need to use the touch screen. Alternatively it may be left to the user to select touch screen ON/OFF when the keyboard is open.
my phone has died in the past 24 hours. I received a message saying I was low on internal memory today - which was weird because I normally have about 50MB free. I noticed contacts new storage was at about 40MB, thought that was weird, but decided to free up some memory be deleting a few unused apps. I deleted about 40MB of unwanted items and my phone was good... for about 2 hours. The internal memory message popped up again, and this time, contacts new storage was using 80MB of internal memory. I currently have 0MB free. It appears CNS is using whatever free space I happen to have on my phone - which is weird since I haven't had problems for over a year with the app.
Sure, I have a linked Facebook account (which I have read can cause problems... hat and Twitter); however, I only have 100 contacts on Facebook...nothing extreme by any means. I have about 50 regular gmail contacts.I would like to be able to "clear data" and have the phone resync my contacts; however, clear data is almost always grayed out on my phone.
I have a desktop cradle that I put my phone on at work. I have the USB cable from it plugged into my PC. This is nice, because it slowly charges all day, and if I want to share files between my phone and PC, they're connected.
At least, that's how it was with my S4.
With the S6, all I see in Windows Explorer is the S6 listed under my C drive. When I click on it, it's blank. Well, at least once or twice, I've seen "Phone" under there and could then drill into the folders of the internal storage. But I don't understand why that only happened once or twice and why I can't get it to happen again.
I have a 16gb Galaxy s5, the device memory bar at the top of the storage area, shows I have about 1/3 storage available. However, my available space is 349 mb... Misc files: 5.60 gb, cached: 604 kb, downloads: 1.32 mb, audio: 120 kb, pictures/videos: 13.62 mb, Applications: 4.06 gb. I have a 32 gb sd card in, and have put many applications and contacts on the sd card. I have the popup: Storage space running out. Some system functions may not work.
I was slightly wary about the no sd slot but ended up ordering cos its just too good a phone. But are there any storage cloud options where i canstore stuff when my phone memory gets full? Wont be hard to max it out with the 4k recordings and 16mp pictures.
I've been googling around and haven't found an answer on how the fingerprint data is stored on the phones and is it safe regardless of device encryption?
The S5 implementation of the data was horrible and Samsung is not to concerned it seems. At least Apple clearly outlines how and where the data is stored.
I got a brand new Galaxy S6 the other day. I like to download torrents for a few shows I can't get in my area ( I know that is frowned upon but oh well). I use Utorrent, and for some reason I am limited to exactly 547 MB of storage. After only half a gig of downloading, I get alerts that I am running out of space, and sure enough when I checked the storage all 32 gigs are taken up. Also it is 99 percent "misc" files with the 500MB of video taking up only a very tiny percentage. When I delete the one torrent I get all 32 gigs back How can one little torrent bring with it 20 or so gigs of misc files?? Never had this problem with my S5.
My phone comes with 16gb on board, I have had it for 14 months. I checked it and my apps are only using about 1.0gb, with data downloads, pictures and so on the phone say it's only using about 4gb but the rest of it says other 11.5gb. I cleaned the internet history, catch files, all calls in the log, and so on. I can't find what is burning up all my storage space. Is there some hidden stuff somewhere I have to clear or something. I had this problems like last month and deleted like 4 apps so I gained about 1gb, but the phone filled it up with something.
I've recently moved from Samsung S3 to S5 on Verizon. Used to have plenty of storage space to add movies that I could watch while on airplane. However, with the S5 I only have about 1GB free at the moment. Is there any way to add extra storage capacity to this device? If so, how much storage can I add?
I simply cannot find where to change the camera storage location. From the guides I've seen online, it should be under the camera setting options, but I simply DO NOT see a storage option.I'm on lollipop and my phone is the sprint model.
i have the ota file for android 5.0 on my galaxy s5 at&t version. On a website it says to update with the ota file it must be on android 4.4.4 although i cant find anyway of getting that update. Can i update from 4.4.2 or will anything bad happen?
For the last month or two, my phone storage has been "running low". I bought a 16GB SD card to get by on my vacation for pictures and all that, worked out. Moved a BUNCH of stuff over to the SD card, still says it's running low. I decided to buy a 64GB SD card and put it in, but the phone still says the storage is running low WITH the SD card mounted.
How am I supposed to get rid of the notification that the storage is low and actually be able to download apps and take pictures?
I have an Samsung Galaxy S2, and i have installed alot BIG games, but when i see that my USB STROAGE is almost full, i deleted all games but SD card seems to be full still i downloaded files of games probably thats why my USB STROAGE is full.i tired to search with "my file" but there are alot folders so i cant find games folders...how to clean my USB STROAGE without Formatting USB STROGE?
I'm using Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G25F) and I'm trying to move an app to system but it says system storage is full. I have been searching for a while but couldn't find any solution, every search result take to "how to free up internal storage" but what i need is to free up system storage. My device is rooted and my storages reads as:
Root: 1.57MB free of 3.53GB
Internal storage: 2.8GB free of 25.31GB
So the one I need to free up is root as i need to move an app to system and its not possible if its full.
P.S: i didnt install any apps in system or I would have deleted or moved them to internal storage. I dont even know what taking up all this space.
How to enable USB Mass Storage mode on Samsung Galaxy S6? Developer option in "ON",and windows explorer see my phone......but usual i work with Total Commander.
Android 5.0.2, without root...and in phone I have only 2 options: MTP and PTP.
Everytime I try to check my storage in my settings it causes my settings to stop working. Touchwiz also stops working. This is my second s6 and things are not looking good.
I know some people are not aware that they can clear out cached data (for All Apps). Is it good to clear it out daily? I do realize that you may need to download the same data again say if you are using apps like Facebook and Zedge and many others.
When I try to download any app it will say there is not enough storage, but my SD card has 124gb available and I can't find a way to download the apps directly to he SD card...
My father has an S5, on Verizon, running 5.0 I believe, bootloader is locked and it has not been rooted. Her problem is that she can't move her pictures from device storage to her as card. I rebooted the phone, restarted it, pulled the battery and tried an SD card that I knew was good, and also an external USB drive, nothing worked.
"Unable to move app. Not enough storage space." Galaxy S5 w/ 5.0 on Verizon.I'm sure there are 1000 threads on this somewhere but I'm not finding them specific to my phone. I've just done factory reset, formatted the external 32 gig SD card, re-installed just a couple apps and STILL get the same error message. The phone storage has over 9 gigs available and the external card is empty.
I use my s2 as a storage device to transfer files between home and work but the free space on my usb storage seems to be lower than it should be.The total space says 11.50gb and between pictures, audio and downloads etc its says i am using 3.19gb but it lists my free space at 3.67gb so where is the missing 4.64gb? If i recall i used to have over 6gb of free space so im not sure why this has dropped. I havent added any more files since then because once ive transfered my files between home and work i delete them.
