I had a N73 before,and I save my messages to my computer. Now they are VMG Files. But when I copy them to my new Nokia C7,and try to open file, appears a message "unknown file format". Is there any way to copy my old messages to C7,and how? I don't know actually where messages are keeped (in which directory) in my C7 phone?

I have got everything working, except for my text message history from showing. I tried the sync settings but I only received texts from 2012, when though it's only supposed to sync messages from last month on.

Does the "App data and settings restore" feature in the Backup & reset setting of the phone will do the trick? Or do I have to do the manual way which is locate the chat history file in the WhatsApp folder, copy it to my laptop and then paste it later in my newly phone?

Internal "Backup & restore" app exist on both phones - my new Z5 and TX and serves the same way - it can back up all text messages (and other data which I don't need to transfer) and it does work with encrypted phone! First it asks for password for decrypting and then works fine. I'm saving my backup to SD card. I'm inserting SD card to Z5 and trying to restore with same data but... BnR app can't see saved data on SD card!
I made some researches on content of backups and I see they using different formats for backups. Different files structure, different files contents and different metadata format.

I had assumed i would be able to save/backup/restore the most important info on my cell like my text messages, phone contacts and ALL my photos in my photostream thru iTunes and NOT have to shell out $3.99US + taxes to be able to do so! The App Store has only 1 free app (out of a whopping 5) which, of course, i cannot use on my 6.1.6 iOS..
How can i backup my messages and contacts? How do I add more options from where I backup email contacts etc etc OTHER than just Microsoft programs? i.e. From Chrome or FireFox.
How do I save and access ALL my 600 pics from my phone when only 56 are listed to be able to be saved on iTunes? Would I be completely delusional to hope there is an app or software that could do a cross-platform transfer of my stuff to an Android phone....??Â

View 13 Replies View RelatedMy Nokia C5-00 was suddenly switch off, i gave it to nearest nokia care, i tried to restore backup the contacts(which i took from my phone option) from my memory card to system and tried to open the contacts in notepad, but all the contacts are in unreadeable format. see the attached contact which i got from my mobile after taking the backup and let me know a solution to open all the contacts. Since i lost all my contacts from my phone i need it badly.
I am having 356 contacts totally, all ar opening like same in some encoded format.
I am having a few problems with my phone and am thinking of doing a Factory reset and backup restore.
1) The factory reset has two options - Factory Reset and Factory Reset with Data. What is the difference between the two? Factory Reset = What settings are reset? I assume all installed applications / data is maintained? Factory Reset and Data = I assume this is similar to the other reset but it also removes all custom data from the two internal memory areas (phone and mass memory)? Am I right in thinking that anything on the micro SD card is kept?
2) Phone Back up & Restore? Does anyone know what data/settings are backed up and can be restored? As an example, if I performed a full backup of my phone (including music and ringtones) and then did a full factory reset including data, would the restore put my phone back in exactly the same postition I was in when the phone was backed up and before the factory reset? Does this include homescreen and menu format changes? On my 6700 the restore would only restore apps / settings but not menu structure and I had to reinstall apps installed on my external memory stick (such as Opera).
I just bought nokia c3 for a week, I accidentally click the restore factory settings and then entered the password, after that, all my files gone, the communities, ovi store, and other features of the phone. the original theme color on the phone is green, white and blue right?
Then after restoring the theme become gray and other features gone, and the worse thing that I cant use the internet although I have wifi connection. The goto address and other menu in the internet gone, the only remaining is home, browser and web services.
When I click home it says check home page address, when I click browser, it doesn't work

Also, I installed the Nokia PC Suite v7.1.51.0 and when I checked the Archive messages folder, I can't seem to open the messages, thus I can't export them to my PC as well.

Even cheapest Nokia models have a Delete All Messages option! This is very useful since I receive so many messages and twice a day I must use it. But I cannot find it in my C6-01, I can't find and it exists, it will be added in a firmware update!
My C3 00 doesn't save messages. Conversation view has only the received texts and the sent items box is always empty. I have a replacement handset and have tried resetting to factory settings, checked via Nokia website updater that I have the latest version etc all to no avail. Nokia phone helpline suggest that I send it back for a reset but I am then without a phone for 10 days so will probably settle for a refund. Does anyone know if a fix will be coming from Nokia? I really want to keep this handset as everything else is fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am not able to send Group messages from Nokia C7.I am sending messages to a distribution list having 70 members in it, only 20 messages are going fine and the remaining 50 stuck in the inbox saying Failed or Resend at XX:XX.Then i usually try to click on each message in the out box and send them again. [i dont know why there is no mark all option in outbox ] But from 3 days eventhough i am trying to send the 50messages again it is just saying Resend at XX:XX.
1) I tried sending the messaged from OVI suite but no luck
2) With help of vodafone customer care i verified all my message settings, message center number and everything are fine. (if they are wrong the first 20 should also stuck na..)
3) I thought it was a n/w problem i called to vodafone Customer care and they asked me try in another phone.
4) I have taken my old nokia 5310 Xpress music inserted the same sim and sent the 70 messages, they all went very fine.

I recently bought the nokia C3-00 on Vodafone but due to the area i live in the signal was rubbish so had to get the phone unlocked to use my old O2 one. I now cant get to send or receive picture messages and its doing my head right in.I have tried to follow a few websites to get this problems resolved but i dont know if i have helped or made the problem worse now i dont know how to resore the default settings so that i can try again.I had the same problem with accessing the internet also but i can now get onto the internet after using settings that i found online.
