Sep 22, 2012My Nokia C5-00 was suddenly switch off, i gave it to nearest nokia care, i tried to restore backup the contacts(which i took from my phone option) from my memory card to system and tried to open the contacts in notepad, but all the contacts are in unreadeable format. see the attached contact which i got from my mobile after taking the backup and let me know a solution to open all the contacts. Since i lost all my contacts from my phone i need it badly.
I am having 356 contacts totally, all ar opening like same in some encoded format.
Cseries :: Nokia C7 Backup, Factory Reset And Then Restore?
Mar 30, 2011I am having a few problems with my phone and am thinking of doing a Factory reset and backup restore.
1) The factory reset has two options - Factory Reset and Factory Reset with Data. What is the difference between the two? Factory Reset = What settings are reset? I assume all installed applications / data is maintained? Factory Reset and Data = I assume this is similar to the other reset but it also removes all custom data from the two internal memory areas (phone and mass memory)? Am I right in thinking that anything on the micro SD card is kept?
2) Phone Back up & Restore? Does anyone know what data/settings are backed up and can be restored? As an example, if I performed a full backup of my phone (including music and ringtones) and then did a full factory reset including data, would the restore put my phone back in exactly the same postition I was in when the phone was backed up and before the factory reset? Does this include homescreen and menu format changes? On my 6700 the restore would only restore apps / settings but not menu structure and I had to reinstall apps installed on my external memory stick (such as Opera).

Oct 28, 2010I had faced this issue when i last updated my phone when the 2.1 had come out.. I installed the latest Backup and Restore application as recomended by the SE update site.. Then backed up my files onto an already existing backup (which i think has corrupted the backup), hence overwriting the file.. After that i upgraded to 2.1 and restored my files, which failed because the contacts were not successfully imported (even though the Backup and Restore app said that the import was succesful.)
i was asked to repair the firmware using PC companion and hence want to backup succesfully without any problems. I cant risk loosing my contacts again. And i want to know from others in this forum if they have faced this issue on normal backup (not overwritten on an existing backup). [URL]

Normally I wouldn't sweat loosing pictures, but these are very important to me.It restored every picture up until the backup I did before I left Sunday morning. May 3, 2012I finally updated my iPhone to 5.1. I waited so long because of the fiasco updating my iPod Touch when 5.0 first came out. I thought it worked, I was pleased Apple worked out the bugs. Lo and behold, all of my apps and folders disappeared before my eyes. No problem I thought, I did a back up. Restore from back up. Fifteen minutes later, it looks exactly the same. Isn't a backup supposed to be of everything on the system so that if something goes wrong, you just revert back to the back up and either try again or wait for the process to be fixed? Seriously, get your stuff together.

Jun 27, 2012I just updated to iOS 5.1.1 on my 3GS phone, previously using 5.0, while plugged into the computer and iTunes 10.6.3. I had the phone set to backup to iCloud, and ran a sync operation before updating.Does that not also create a backup?When the restore process began, it asked if I wanted to set up as a new phone or restore from backup. However the list of available backups did not have anything from today.The last one listed was from October 2011.So I cancelled that operation, went through the new phone setup and then it asked if I wanted to restore from iCloud. So I chose the most recent iCloud backup which was from around 6 AM this morning. Now it is in the process of downloading all my apps, pics, and perhaps music as well. I don't know but it's going to take HOURS to finish this.
Anyway I opened some apps that have already downloaded, and some app data appears to be intact. But other apps have nothing after October 2011. And I'm talking apps that have tracked my fitness and workout progress over the past 6 months, bike rides in the past few months, car fuel fillup and maintenance history since October, I'm talking LOTS of data that appears to be gone.What did I do wrong here? Did I not do what I should have done regarding backups? What is the point of backing up to iCloud if it's not going to back up all my app data?

Oct 13, 2012I recently purchased a new C6-01 (and first-time Nokia owner) and having trouble with getting maps restored onto a new 32GB uSDHC card and need some help.
It is my understanding that I can backup and restore all my phone contents and settings to a new memory card using Nokia Suite. So what I did is performed a complete backup using Nokia Suite, ejected the old uSD card (that came with the phone), put in the new uSD card that I had purchased and format it, then performed a complete restore to the phone and the new memory card.
During the restore, I saw errors on the phone display that said something like disk write error and gave me the option of stop or retry. I hit the retry a few times and still getting the error. Thinking it may be a bad uSD card, I returned/exchanged for another identical one. With the 2nd new card, I still get the same error message so I rebooted the phone and ran restore again but this time instead of restore everything all at once, I selected a few items at a time and eventually got everything restored, at least without errors this time.
When I ran maps after the restore, it told me that I needed to download the maps, and when I tried to download it thru a WiFi connection (at my house), I keep getting Disk error - cannot complete write. Retry or data will be lost. At this point if I run Files, it will show drive E but not any free space number (and selecting it will show free space not available). A reboot will bring back drive E and show 29.4GB free. So I am completely stumped at this point and believe that for whatever the reason I can not get maps loaded onto a non-Nokia-provided memory card.
I am running Nokia Suite 3.5.34 on WIndows XP w/SP3. The new 32GB uSDHC card is a class 4 card made by Sandisk. The phone is running the Belle Refresh v111.040.1511 dated 7/28/2012. Map version: v3.09 12wk20 b01-MW OpenGL MN-Map version 0.2.46.103

It does something to my BB, it changes stuff, but not want I want it to restore. So I tried a full restore, a partial restore, a different backup, turning the BB off. Everything! First I tried it with the old Desktop software and later with the new one. It doesn't work.

Lumia 950 :: Do Not Restore From Backup
Nov 29, 2015I upgraded from a 1520 to the 950 and had the developers preview on my 1520. Low and behold my 950 was getting terrible battery life. draining 10% every hour at idle and more when I was making calls or browsing. It was locking up and having trouble with various apps freezing at times. Before I returned it I thought I would try a wipe and then setup the phone from new and it has fixed everything. I'm at 80% after 6 hours of light browsing and 1 10 minute phone call!
