I am trying to figure this one out. Can my Blackberry be hacked. My husband recently received a spam email that appeared to be from my yahoo account. The interesting part was that the other names on the "sent" to list were other email contacts of mine. That's fine but I don't keep a contact list on Yahoo. And I have 1000's of contacts in outlook. The mailing list on this email was much more selective. When I examined my blackberry, the emails that are currently cached in my blackberry were the only email addresses used in these spam email distribution lists! So it looks to me like my blackberry emails currently on my blackberry were somehow hacked and the addressed extracted from these emails alone.is this possible?? there were only about 10 email addresses in this spam email. And there was no record of any "sent" spam messages inside my Yahoo account. So it doesn't look my yahoo account was compromised
I think that my iphone4 was hacked via email. I did make the mistake of clicking on a link in an email. I then noticed that the phone would not switch off so I restored it from the cloud. Once I had done this I was asked to enter my password for my iCloud account. In addition to this I was asked for a password for a mystery hotmail account. I then reset the phone to factory setting which seams to have solved any problems. Is it possible to hacked and iPhone via email if the phone has not already been jailbrocken.
My email accounts are getting hacked continously from past 5 days. I have accessed my email accounts from 2 pc's, one from my home pc and one from my office pc, and this are hotmail and yahoo email account. I have also configured my email account on my blackberry 9800 torch. Surprisingly, when first time my email account was hacked I received information about my account from alternate email id, and I safely reset my hotmail password but am still able to receive email on my blackberry. So, if I had reset my email address then in my blackberry 9800, shouldnt it ask for password to login to the email, since i reset it. The same incident has happened for past 3 times and I dont have clue whether its the blackberry (RIM) service problem or the Vodafone carrier that I am using, since vodafone might be getting all the information related to my email account and its password, when I login on blackberry?
I recently opened an attachment on my iphone 4s which came through my email account - my email account is now compromised and have had to change all of my passwords into my email account. How can I run a check on my phone to ensure that any of my other accounts, ie amazon etc have not been compromised. is there a virus checker for Iphone 4s?
I have a question. In my address book for my contacts it says synchronize using: email@email.com That email address has been hacked. How do I change it? I would guess this would also get rid of the multiple address book contacts for each person also.
My yahoo email was hacked into as I opened an email on my Blackberry 8530 curve. They were able to change my email password, steal and delete my contact list, send all my contacts and email saying I was in London and desperately needed $1500 and set up an alternate email in Yahoo so that if some questioned the email requesting money they would reply it was really me. Is there anything I can use to protect the Blackberry phone from this type of thing from happening.
In the lastest device OS, the email application on the device caches email addresses from emails you have received, so that when you compose a new message these cached email addresses appear in the quick list along with addresses from your Contacts list. I need to know how to turn off this feature or to at least delete some of the cached addresses. Here's the problem. I have a contact in my Contacts list whose name is Thomas. He often goes by Tom, but I don't have Tom in the Contact record for him. He sent me a conference call invitation in which he used the name Tom to set up the conference. The actual email address is from freeconference.com, but his name appears as Tom. Now if I go to write an email to him and start to type Tom, the cached email appears and I end up sending an email to freeconference.com instead of to his real email address. I'm sure this happens with other contacts as well. Since the real email address is masked in the quick pick list, it is very easy to miss this issue and send to the wrong place.
My apple id was synced with a friend's iphone. Now her husband is hacking into my account and causing problems. How can I delete my account or atleast prevent him from getting into my account? I've changed the password but he has somehow made it to sync to his phone as well.
I was quite happily enjoying a new episode of Fringe when suddenly I had an email saying my Apple account password had been changed along with lots of billing information. After resetting my account, a lot of my details have been changed, namely to an address in the US (I live in the UK), the phone number has changed (to a US number) and apparently credit card information.
Anyone know who I have to contact to get this looked into? I am really stressing and it seems that I just cannot find an email address or telephone number for customer support - just sales! It seems like 2 apps were downloaded to my iPhone and iPad - haypi dragon and galaxy empire both free to download but have big in app purchases...
Tried searching the site but for some reason my iPhone isn't letting me type in the search bar. Anyway I just got sent this link http://thenextweb.com/apple/2010/07/...-store-hacked/ apparently the app store has been hacked? Just putting this put there so people know they may need to change their password etc. It seems to only be effecting the US accounts.
This is my first post so I apologize if I'm posting in the wrong section. My girlfriend has an iphone 4s and an ipad2. Her appleid password has recently been changed without her authorization. Even her security questions have been altered so her original answers are rejected. She's tried using iforgot and the appleid support website but since her info has changed she doesn't receive an email from said site. She called apple support and the tech told her that she would need to pay for support ($69.99) over the phone since it's been 90 days from when she purchased both products.
First post here, but this is the best forum I've found so hope you can give some advice.I received a new iPhone 4 through my employer yesterday, but when I tried to download the employer apps I needed from the Apps Store, I got the message that my iTunes account was disabled and I needed to contact Apple Support.
Although I've not purchased anything through my iTunes account in almost a year, I was notified by Discover Card Fraud division last week that someone had used my credit card to purchase approximately $80 worth of goods through iTunes. (The card was not used for any purchases other than iTunes.) I rarely use this credit card, but it was the one tied to my iTunes account. Luckily, Discover caught the purchase or I would not have known until I received a statement. Anyway, we agreed to immediately shut the account down and they sent me a new card and I thought the issue was resolved.
Before I even hooked up my new phone to the PC, I opened my iTunes account and changed the attached credit card to the new one. Saved with no problems, but when I go to the Apps Store I still receive the same "account disabled" message. I even tested further and cannot purchase anything including music.
So I contacted Apple iPhone Support last night and got a really great support person who became the mediator between me and iTunes Support (since you can't call them). Bottom line, three hours later, the issue was unresolved and remains unresolved today. This is a WORK phone. I am not interested in buying any music, videos, or TV shows. I am simply trying to download my company's free apps from the Apps Store that will setup my email and calendar sync. I even tried to setup a new iTunes account, linked it to my PayPal account, and used a different email, but am still getting the same message. I explained this to Apple Support, they agreed this would not work but were very vague about why.
Totally frustrated, and ready to pack up and return the iPhone, as a last resort I called the Discover Fraud number a little while ago. They tell me that this situation with iTune purchases and stolen credit card numbers is almost at epidemic levels now and has greatly increased over the past few months. Was their customer database breached?
I received an email early this morning from Apple Support telling me they are sorry for the problem and will get back to me as soon as possible, but I just don't understand why this is so hard to fix! Like I said, the bogus purchases were NOT made from my iTunes account so why isn't it sufficient just to change my credit card number and restore the account?
Sorry to sound so frustrated, but I really love this phone and want this to work. I so very much do not want to return to my Blackberry, but I must be able to get my work email, tasks and calendar info.
i have a problem setting up my email. im using blackberry curve 8900. i've registered for BIS. and this is my first time to set up my email. but when i tried to set it up, it prompts me with a message saying "your device had a problem connecting to the server. so i tried to reboot by pulling out the battery and sim card and returned them again, i also register for host routing table to recognize my network but nothing happened.
woke up monday morning and my bbm and emails have stopped sending and recieving i have a data plan active and wifi on and still nothing. thought i would leave it a couple of days and see if it started working again but still not working.
Is there a simple way to send somebody a BBM message through email from a PC or something else? I'm thinking maybe using an email address with the user's PIN number followed by a domain name, something like "PIN_number@blackberry.com" or something like that?
I have my email from exchange server set up on my blackberry. everytime I reply to an email in my Outlook, the email I responded to appears as a new email in my blackberry, so not the email that I sent, but the original email that I responded to.But does not happen when I respond to email on the blackberry. It also does not happen with new email that i send.any idea on how I can stop the emails reappearing as a new email?
there is actually no option on the phone itself to create an email account only a business one.i've tried doing it from my computer but it said my device is not registered with the wireless service provider, so i followed these instructions to do that and it just says it again!
It has already happened several times, somehow my BlackBerry won't let me get into my e-mail or sms's and shows me a message that says: Uncaught exception: DSSMA: invalid state (5):10
i am new to this BB world. i recently bought a BB and set up my Blackberry Id Username and Password, Unfortunately i seem to have forgoten the password and it looks like the email address i used is wrong and has to many mmmm at the end. as in gmail.commm. now i cant get the recovery email. to this non existant email. what can i do
I have had no email on my blackberry since yesterday. I called Verizon, my provider, who told me there were some issues with Blackberry. I have tried taking out the battery, deleting my email address from the service book, etc.
I need to figure out how to turn my email on and off my Curve 8330. Does anyone know how to do this? I average about 150 emails a day and if I'm sitting in front of my computer I would rather not have them going to my blackberry too! Is there anyway I can just turn it off?
I'm missing a feature that *used* to be available ... you could check a box which said, paraphrased: "Don't send emails to my handset while I'm connect to my desktop" on the Desktop Redirector, and I always used that option. I can't find it anymore since Desktop Manager v6.
