I replaced my 8830 with a HTC EVO. I want to send the 8830 to my granddaughter so she can activate it on her local Sprint network. How do I reset the phone to factory default? It is version 4.2.

I have run the repair from the computer through the Sony pc companion, reset to factory default and ran the manual restart by pressing down the yellow button next to the micro sim but still lags.

I confirmed that its unlocked from MEPD command (although it says Network: ''Inactive'' instead of 'disabled').I tried using various GSM network SIMs (India) in it and everytime, it shows an active tower and full signal levels and displays the name of the network correctly. It looks as if its connected to the GSM service at full signal.However, placing calls fail and any call made to the number gives a 'Switched Off' message. i have tried: Battery pull & Wipe out.

My 8830 is now falling apart, after being of great service for more than 2 years. I am with Verizon. I cannot figure out which blackberry to go to.
Here is my must-have list:
- Actual keyboard (I cannot type on a virtual keyboard on a touch screen).
- Worldwide coverage. i.e. at least as much coverage as with my current 8830+SIM card
- WiFi
Basically I am looking for something similar to 8830, but with WiFi being the only added feature.
I am actually asking this for a friend of mine. She has the BlackBerry8830 on Sprint. I am a bold user using 5.0 Does anyone out there know if there is a beta release of OS 5.0 for the 8830?

I've called AT&T and they have done everything they could do then told me to call Verizon for the phone to be unlocked. The long and short of it is, she got the unlock code from Verizon and now my card is being recognized however, the phone is still showing her phone number and when I try to place a call it reverts to Verizon and won't let me complete the call.
