I have a BlackBerry 8830. The track ball is getting ornery. It will occasionally only function horizontally on the line it happens to be on. It won't go vertically. After fussing with it for a while, it starts working normally again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a new Verizon 8830 World Edition unlocked from ebay. I confirmed that its unlocked from MEPD command (although it says Network: ''Inactive'' instead of 'disabled').I tried using various GSM network SIMs (India) in it and everytime, it shows an active tower and full signal levels and displays the name of the network correctly. It looks as if its connected to the GSM service at full signal.However, placing calls fail and any call made to the number gives a 'Switched Off' message. i have tried: Battery pull & Wipe out.

A few weeks ago the click function of my trackball stopped working. I think it was because I had moisture and dirt on my hand when I picked it up to use it. I have been reluctant to take it apart since I don't have a backup BB and it is still 90% functional without this feature working. Today, I did 3 things. First, I took rubbing alcohol and a q-tip and soaked the trackball. Then I used a piece of a straw, threaded it down between the black piece around the trackball and the chrome bezel, gently pulled up on it and used as much compressed air as possible to blow out the area under the trackball. Then, while the battery was out I pushed on the trackball assembly from behind pretty hard. I repeated this procedure a few times, and it suddenly started working. It was intermittent at first, but is working normally now. For how long I don't know but thought I would share this for others that have the same issue.

- Actual keyboard (I cannot type on a virtual keyboard on a touch screen).
- Worldwide coverage. i.e. at least as much coverage as with my current 8830+SIM card
- WiFi
Basically I am looking for something similar to 8830, but with WiFi being the only added feature.
I am actually asking this for a friend of mine. She has the BlackBerry8830 on Sprint. I am a bold user using 5.0 Does anyone out there know if there is a beta release of OS 5.0 for the 8830?

View 1 Replies View Relatedso here's my problem. i went over to a friends house today for a barbecue, and when i got there i sent a text so i know everything was working fine. a few hours later i get home and notice that the screen on my Curve is black, and i knew something was up because i know it was fully charged before i left the house earlier. hit the buttons and nothing. so i do a battery pull and it reboots fine, then the screen goes black after 30 seconds and then hit the buttons and nothing. when i hook a mini usb cable up to the port, the screen comes back on for the usual 30 seconds, then goes black like the other times. when i connected it via the cable and the screen lit up, i noticed that the trackball scrolls fine left and right, but pushing the trackball does nothing.the phone is about a year and a half old, through Verizon. i have no problem with getting a new phone, but i don't want to loose the 150 or so contacts i have on the phone. i don't have Google Sync installed on the phone, and i'm guessing that it's too late to back anything up now on my end. when i connect it to my PC, i can access the usually Media folders and Slacker, but nothing else. if i take it into a local VZW store, would they be able to back up my address book the exact way it is now, since the phone powers on and the USB port works fine?i'm going to remove the shell tonight and see if i notice anything.

Are they all the same size or has anyone had problems trying this. I'm not worried about taking it apart or the warranty, but would like to see if this was successful for anyone else first.

Can't get email to my Bold 9650 now. Neither the old password nor the new one works, though the old one works with my Facebook account. Can't add another hotmail account or uninstall the existing account so I could start over. Yes, the email works everywhere else.

After the 5.1 update, i noticed that videos don't rotate when the phone is held horizontally. also i made a video call and when i rotated the phone the screen became unresponsive and kept going on and off unless when i held the phone in a certain angle which i cant figure out, i dont know if this issue has been there the whole time because the first video call i made on the phone (via skype) was after the update. also when i unlock the screen sometimes the colors fade and become lighter, and the screen itself freezes for 2 seconds.

I am pretty sure that I used to be able to do this (before iOS 8). I don't remember the last time I tried to do this. I used to touch and hold to bring up the magnifying glass and then when I would move the cursor to the beginning/end of the text box the text would scroll. Now when I try to move the cursor to the end of the text box nothing happens. If I try to move the cursor past the end of the text box the cursor actually moves outside of the text box where the text would be. If I then start typing the text jumps so the cursor is at the end of the text box. This doesn't seem to work to get back to the beginning of the text. Â

Appointment deleted externally. Changes will be lost and the viewer closed.Does anyone know how I can delete my appointments and not have them appear? In some cases, the same appointment is listed twice.

I got all my tasks, calendar, memo, and contacts by syncing with outlook. My question is this, is there an easy way to import all my old text messages? I use them a lot for reference, and would like to have them available on my new phone.
