BB Tour 9630 :: Phone Freezes / Which OS Should I Run?
May 23, 2010
alright so im running .230 forever now and lately its been giving me problems, the phone freezes sometimes, slow other times.what bothers me the most is that I can Record videos, but when i try to play them back it comes back with an error and then i cant even play them back on my computer.so what OS should i run? i know .591 is crap.. so help me out here guys, i need my phone to be reliable again
A few hours ago I uninstalled an app on my Tour, and was asked whether to reboot now or later to complete the process. So I selected to reboot now.The phone turned off and while the white loading symbol was feeling up it all the sudden stopped a little more than halfway loaded. So I removed the battery to try and start the process over and it continues to stop at the same point in loading process and won't turn on. I have never connected my Blackberry to computer before.
I am having problems with my messenger freezing up on my Tour. It started with the most recent update. It will work fine but then randomly it will not allow me to open current chats. (I can still scroll through names on my list, so the whole screen isn't frozed, I just can't click on anything.) The only thing I can do to "fix" it is a hard reset of my phone, but then its just a matter of time before it freezes again. Happens daily at least.
In December I got my third replacement 9630 in less than a year. From the first day this one has had a single maddening flaw. If the transmitter is on, after every 25 seconds of typing it freezes for about 10 seconds. I can then type again for another 25 seconds, and then it freezes again. The only way I can use the unit without this happening is to turn off the radio, type my email or text, and then turn on the radio again to transmit. I originally thought the problem might be due to a memory shortage, but then why would the radio setting matter?
I'm travelling overseas soon and will have the $40 Sprint add-on data package. I don't want to receive phone calls - especially from people who don't know that I'm out of town. What is the best way of making all of these calls go to voicemail automatically?
I've entered a pre-paid SIM card and can't read the phone book on my TOUR, i dont even have the option to retract them from the card to the phone when i go to the menu. Although I can make and receive calls with no problem.Did u guys have to do something special prior to entering the card?
I have noticed my phone has been freezing a few times the past week or two and didn't think much of it until some friends with the tour complained about the exact same thing (Phone freezing randomly but just within the past week or two). Has anyone else noticed this?
I just used my upgrade on the verizon blackberry tour 9630, I'm a big texter and absolutely LOVED my env2! Any helpful hints? Advice to a new user? I actually will not get my phone till next week.
I'm new to the community. A little info about me My name is Steve, I am a Sprint ASC Technician in Indiana. I currently carry a Tour.I've worked on countless BlackBerrys, processed many repairs and exchanges, and have studied these phones from their hardware to their software. However, I have come across a problem that I cannot repair. Let me explain. BlackBerry Tour on Sprint. The device will not power on. I have done the standard protocol on devices that will not power up-- replaced battery, tried to connect to Desktop Manager, try connecting to JL Commander-- none of which had any effect. The owner of the phone has accepted that I will have to order him another one, but has propositioned me outside of work and offered me a handsome reward if I can get the contacts and texts messages off of the old one somehow. I told him how unlikely the possibility is, but with the amount of money he is willing to pay me for it, I am going to try.My question to you gurus out there: What can I do to accomplish such a task? I took his motherboard out and put it in different Tour's housing, hoping it was just some insignificant cable problem from the original housing, but sadly it still did not power on. The device has only been used for about 3 months, and the motherboard has no signs of abuse of any kind. Does anyone have any ideas, crazy or not, how to get this motherboard to power on so I recover his contacts and/or text messages? He bought me a soldering kit and told me if there's ANYTHING else I need to get the job done, let him know no matter the cost.
My partner and I want to upgrade our phones to a new PDA. I have the Tour and I love it. His only concern is that, in our business we will need to use Handheld Contact to integrate with a program called ACT! and we are not sure that the tour will hold all of our contacts? How many contacts will the tour hold including email addresses any everything? We have over 3000 contacts in our ACT! database.
So, from my last 2 topics, I've finally received my replacement Blackberry (Bold 9650). This is probably a dumb question but here it goes, everything I had on my Tour isn't on the battery right? My replacement doesn't have a battery so I have to use the battery from my Tour. When I use the Tour battery on my Bold, it'll just act as a battery and just give life to the Bold right?
Another question, what's the original os on the Bold? Is there a new update or one coming up? I got my replacement because of the update that I did on my dm and now I'm afraid to update it from dm. Should I not do updates over ota?
Every time I put my phone on the table it restarts. It only really occurs when the phone lands on the table. Other than that it doesn't but every time I put the phone on the table or something its restarts and its becoming a little annoying. I have tried numerous battery pulls and nothing. Should I just bring it into Verizon to let them look at it and if something is wrong will they give me a new phone.
Sorry I meant to put SD* card not SC. I had a bb tour 9630 that I broke. I got my new one and took my memory card out of the broken phone and put it in my new one. Does not work. Says it wont format. Everything is turned on like is supposed to be. What can I do? Kind of would like to be able to get my files off my card and use it on my new phone.
My girlfriends Tour will not forward a sms as an email. She can forward emails, just not text messages. She is running .61 and has had the phone since Christmas.
I did a search, and couldn't find it for the tour. I want to put a password on for every time I lock it, it needs a password, or something like that. I want under security option, general etc and still could not find anything.
Ok Ive had my sprint Tour for about 3 weeks now here are some little things that make me wanna take it back and try the Samsung Monent instead. now keep in mind my first bb was the nextel 8350i. 1. media issue. i cannot get my itunes library to sync using the media sync.this was never an issue on my old bb. I've everything no go.
2. i've updated my phone to the no os 5.0.484 and still very buggie.
3. the 3g isn't very fast now it is a major upgrade from my 1/2 g with nextel.
4. It finally seems to me that owning a blackberry is like owning a microsoft pc you always have to updaye just to keep it running right
Is there a way to have my tour save my contacts with a third party app ? What i mean is most all of the sprint phones if you are out of town and you lose your phone and you go to a store and get a new phone as soon as they activate the new phone through the back up contacts on there sprints website it will automactly put your contacts in your new phone.I know you can save them on your pc but if i dont have my lap top with me how can i get the contacts and numbers into my new phone that i get when iam out of town.I was told there was a third party app to down load that will transfer them. so if you are out of town and lose your blackberry how do you get your contacts in the new blackberry if you dont have your pc with you ?
I tried to dl .624 yesterdaythe overall restore progress goes to 100 percent and stays there.I tried to take the battery out and put it back in and the upgrade just starts over,I can't even stop the upgrade.I did a hard reset and the same thing happens
I am debating about calling in to try and get the bold, but my only worry is changing my PIN. Is there a way to keep the same PIN as my current phone for the replacement?
I upgraded my phone last night to the 5.0 Os and it was running a bit slow. However, this morning I pulled the battery as an attempt to clear it and see if it would run smoother but that plan backfired on me. The phone boots up but it gets stuck on the Verizon Wireless logo screen. Not sure what to do at this point? I think when I upgraded the desktop manager backed everything up. Will verizon correct this for me?
