May 16, 2010Trying to get a new theme on my Tour, but when I plug my phone in it is not recognized by my computer. Anyone have any suggestions?

Dec 24, 2011i got a blackberry tour passed down to me and after doing the security wipe i wasnt able to access the internet,bbm,facebook. i have gone to my network provider and they couldnt fix it. the host routing table is empty and when i register it it say the message has being sent and still nothing happens.

Jan 30, 2010Okay, so it is a bit ironic that I am posting this question, as I have been helping others here on CB with BT/USB tethering for quite some time now. However, it looks as if the tables have turned!
Like many have reported over the past few months, Sprint has finally turned off the "back-door" free tethering connection that has been working for many years via BT and USB for many, many people. Over the years, I have activated and deactivated the "phone as modem" add-on several times, usually only when needed. Just last week, I called into CS and had them flip the switch ON.
My Tour was already setup for BT modem, and connected just fine, and since I turned it on, I have used the service many times. HOWEVER - just the other day, I tried to connect and my Tour's screen flashed white, and said "Connecting to desktop". I could not exit out of this screen, and also could not connect to the phone via BT to use as a modem. The blue BT light was flickering, and the computer was trying to connect for about 30 seconds, before failing - and once failed, the white screen went away, and the home screen reappeared.
I have NEVER seen this screen before - not even when connecting the phone via USB to the DM in either Windows or Mac. I am not sure what has happened since last week. I have not installed a new OS, nor have I changed any settings on the phone or in DM. Very odd!
I would appreciate any help or insight into this matter. I have already tried pairing the phone with the computer again - but still every time I go to connect via BT, the phone is now displaying the "Connecting to desktop" message with a white background. So weird! I am using Snow Leopard with a hybrid OS. Neither one of these factors should be the root of any issue - as I said earlier, just last week things were working fine - and I have made NO changes whatsoever since.
Only new apps downloaded since have been Bold, Opera, and QuickPull - however, I cannot imagine any of these apps to be interfering with tethering. I have tried battery pulls, and reconfiguring bluetooth settings - all to no avail.
BB Tour 9630 :: Error Connecting To Desktop Manager?
Jun 20, 2010Ive searched and havent really found a good answer to my problem, but when i connect my blackberry through the USB port, my computer and DM are not finding that its connected. Ive tried re-installing DM, re-starting my computer, re-booting my phone and none of these have worked. Is there something else that I am missing?

Aug 6, 2010I've entered a pre-paid SIM card and can't read the phone book on my TOUR, i dont even have the option to retract them from the card to the phone when i go to the menu. Every time it enters memory transfer mode I have installed the Gordon's Gate Setup and I make sure of turning the phone off and holding C then the application will search for the phone nothing will happen
Then the application will give up looking for the phone and then the phone enters USB transfer mode.

Oct 7, 2015So I think something on my USB port has malfunctioned... it won't show up in the device manager when I plug it in.I have tried the sticky thread on Diagnosing USB Driver and ADB issues in Windows. I have searched the forums and internet and tried lots of driver installs and restart this and that.
Recently this started when I wanted to flash Android 6.0 to my phone. During the install with NRT after each erase and flash it would say Waiting for device, and the only way I would get it to proceed was to plug the USB and plug it back in... Now running Android 6.0 it won`t even recognize my device and won`t pop up the menu to choose your usb connection setting.I have two Nexus 7, one Nexus 7 (2013), and another Nexus 5... and they all work fine and get recognized by the computer.

Apr 28, 2010I'm new to the community. A little info about me My name is Steve, I am a Sprint ASC Technician in Indiana. I currently carry a Tour.I've worked on countless BlackBerrys, processed many repairs and exchanges, and have studied these phones from their hardware to their software. However, I have come across a problem that I cannot repair. Let me explain. BlackBerry Tour on Sprint. The device will not power on. I have done the standard protocol on devices that will not power up-- replaced battery, tried to connect to Desktop Manager, try connecting to JL Commander-- none of which had any effect. The owner of the phone has accepted that I will have to order him another one, but has propositioned me outside of work and offered me a handsome reward if I can get the contacts and texts messages off of the old one somehow. I told him how unlikely the possibility is, but with the amount of money he is willing to pay me for it, I am going to try.My question to you gurus out there: What can I do to accomplish such a task? I took his motherboard out and put it in different Tour's housing, hoping it was just some insignificant cable problem from the original housing, but sadly it still did not power on. The device has only been used for about 3 months, and the motherboard has no signs of abuse of any kind. Does anyone have any ideas, crazy or not, how to get this motherboard to power on so I recover his contacts and/or text messages? He bought me a soldering kit and told me if there's ANYTHING else I need to get the job done, let him know no matter the cost.

Jun 17, 2010So, from my last 2 topics, I've finally received my replacement Blackberry (Bold 9650). This is probably a dumb question but here it goes, everything I had on my Tour isn't on the battery right? My replacement doesn't have a battery so I have to use the battery from my Tour. When I use the Tour battery on my Bold, it'll just act as a battery and just give life to the Bold right?
Another question, what's the original os on the Bold? Is there a new update or one coming up? I got my replacement because of the update that I did on my dm and now I'm afraid to update it from dm. Should I not do updates over ota?

Jan 26, 2010Every time I put my phone on the table it restarts. It only really occurs when the phone lands on the table. Other than that it doesn't but every time I put the phone on the table or something its restarts and its becoming a little annoying. I have tried numerous battery pulls and nothing. Jul 29, 2011Every time I connect the XPRT to my computer, it performs a long drawn out process. One the phone it reads:
1. Connecting usb or mass storage
2. Preparing SD card
3. SD card safe to remove
Steps 2. and 3. are continually cycled back and forth for at least 10 minutes. During this period I cannot access any of the data on the phone via the computer. Once the cycling is complete and the notifications menu reads "SD card safe to remove," it functions normally. The entire time I have the USB connection set as "USB Mass Storage." Other than that I do not have any problems transferring data to and from the phone, however, it is frustrating that it takes so long for it to connect.
