Feb 11, 2012

i have a problem with my blackberr torch 9860. my phone won't use my wifi connection even though i am perfectly connected with the broght white indication. It also seems to not use my data service plan too, because when i inserted a sim with a registered data plan already, the edge indicator should have become capitalized but it won't. i can't even use my facebook and twitter with it. even the app world is not usable, it keeps on saying "the data service is not operational' i tried using the hard reset and the factory reset but nothing seems to chenge.

BB Curve :: Know I'm Using Wifi And Not My Data Plan?

Jun 24, 2012

I'm gradually getting used to and liking my new BlackBerry! If I'm at home and got the wifi on and want to go on the internet, how do I know I'm using wifi and not my data plan? I only have 250mb data plan and don't want to be using it up when I'm on the net with the wifi on. It says the name of the router at the top of my phone, but also 3G. I can't tell if I'm connecting via the wifi router or phone connection.

BB Curve :: Wifi Without Data Plan?

Sep 16, 2011

I purchased my blackberry in August 2011 and signed up for a talk/text plan with Koodo. I used my wifi at home to access the internet on my blackberry then one day, it stopped working. The Koodo people tell me that RIM did some kind of 'service book push' that has now blocked all wifi capabilities so now I have to purchase a data plan to get wifi. Is this accurate or is Koodo just trying to get me to sign up for a data plan just so I can access my wifi at home?

BB Bold 9000 :: Wifi Using Data Plan

Sep 9, 2010

Though I subscribed to my carrier for GPRS services, but the plan has a limit on the data. I have to pay additional if the data exceeds the limit. Therefore when I'm at hotspots or at home, naturally I would want to switch to WIFI to save on costs. Actually, you are right on switching off the data services, it would turn off WIFI as well. So I did a little test. I turned off the entire mobile coverage and left only WIFI on ( which means I'm only connected to my WIFI). I was still able to surf the internet and download both my office and personal emails.

So my only question now is (sort of getting a confirmation), there is no way to turn off the GPRS and leave both the mobile (voice) and WIFI on at the same time?

BB Torch :: 9860 Is Not Using Wifi At All

Sep 14, 2011

I purchased BB Torch 9860 before two days and I already have plan for the data package (200 mb). I connected it to my WiFi at home and it shows that it's connected. Now when I'm at home and I want to surf the internet, it's using the carrier data package, but I want it to use the WiFi. I searched all over and I can't find any solution. any help? Notes: On the home screen, I can see my carrier name (Etisalat) and my WiFi network name. When I go to "Manage Connections", it shows that I'm connected to the WiFi network; but I've never seen the WiFi signal icon in blue or green or any color than grey (which means the BB is not using the WiFi at all) I want to set the default internet access as WiFi. but How ?! Some people told me that it will switch automatically between WiFi and data package, but as far as I see, it's not switching at all. Motorola Xoom :: Unlimited Data Plan - Wifi Tether?

Jul 9, 2011

Verizon Wireless now has a really good hotspot tethering plan for 4G phones. For $30/mo you get unlimited 4G tethering on your phone which is a bargain compared to the tablet plans especially considering 4G is 10x the 3G speeds. It makes we want to run out now and get a Samsung Charge so I can drop my 3gB Xoom plan. I'm going to stick with my Xoom data for now and hold out a three or four weeks for the Bionic. Hopefully Verizon won't change this offer before the Bionic comes out.
