Jun 19, 2012My Torch 9800 has wrong 3G bands (1,2,5,6). Anybody know it is possible change this bands to correct and how can do it?

Dec 5, 2012I bought a BB Torch 9860 in USA, and I live in Argentina, and as I couldn't get 3G on it I was searching and I foun out that I got a wrong 3G bands units. mine is model RDQ71UW with bands 1-4-8, and local mobile provider here, Claro, explained to me that I need the bands 1-2-5-6, that I understand is on model RDP71UW.I also understand that it is not something that could gets re-configured.So I should buy a correct unit and try to sell this one, is that right?Is not possible to get this model in Argentina because we have many limitations to importations. at the States do they sell/use boht models? so, in that case I could get the correct one there, and also offer mine there, correct?What countries or regions uses each of those models?

As every other touchscreen phone on the market has a pattern unlock method, this is the single issue preventing from purchasing this phone(s) PLEASE ISSUE AN UPDATE/APP/PATCH anything to bring this vital security & efficiency issue up to par.

Aug 11, 2010I have already installed the new Desktop Manager 6.0 that I downloaded from the RIM site.
I am thinking the safest way to not have a problem is the just restore my 9800 data from a back up rather than do the Switch Device thing. Anyone worried it might bring erroneous crap into the new 6.0 OS.
Maybe it would be better to redo my settings after the data install to make sure all is clean and working correctly. Some of the 5.0 setting would not be applicable to the new 6.0 software.

May 25, 2010Old V9x was Telstra locked and ran on 3G 850 MHz (called NextG here) which suits me fine. Flip on phone got damaged, so bought another that is unlocked. Has GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 and 3G HSDPA, but not 3G 850.
Q1: Is the band availability able to be changed via software or hardware?
Q2: If it is hardware is there any issue with swapping the chip set PCB from old phone to new? (Have seen the dismantling stuff on the net)

Jan 4, 2010Looking to upgrade soon and might have the option of getting a phone with just 850 3g band and wanted to see if there was a way to test coverage locally. My blackjack does both so that doesn't help alone, and if I set it to 850 gsm it loses all signal. That might mean no 850 3g, but wanted to be sure that was the case and if not conclusive what I can do to see signals in the area.

My school e-mail is weird because when I go inside everything looks exactly like gmail but it isn't exactly gmail beacuse you can't sign on from www.gmail.com. Gotta go through the school website. Sometimes you can see them in the preview area but when you click on them you get a weird icon that looks like a wheel. Sometimes even in the preview area you cannot see the pic at all.Still on the official OS that came with the phone. Does anyone know what the problem is? I recently swapped out to a larger memory card but I had the problem on both cards.

Apr 26, 2010As you already know, the ring volume on the Torch 9800 is extremely low. So I tried to email custom mp3 ringtones to my phone to use instead. In attempting to do so, I received a message saying "More request cannot be completed. Service book information not found." I also received this message when trying to email a photo to my blackberry. This never use to happen in past blackberries I have owned.
How do I fix this "service book information not found" issue ?

Aug 25, 2010I have bought a Torch, but cannot get it to set up in the Organizer configuration to sync with my Calendar in MS Office XP- Outlook. My computer runs Windows XP. The contacts and memo will configure (although) they are posting to an archive folder and when I try to change that I get Error 0x80043bea), but the Calendar and Tasks will go through the set-up process, but when you finish it, the checkmark on those 2 Outlook folder disappears before you can even select the advance settings.I have re-set the configuration on the Desktop software a couple of times, to no avail, and uninstalled the Desktop 6.0 software and reinstalled it. None of these measures have changed the problem.Any suggestions?

The phone wil enter bedside mode and i get a message stating that the phone will not charge. I am able to charge the phone without the dock using the exact same cable. I reset my password for the BB ID I thought was for this device, which includes the '1', but when I try using that BB ID on this phone, it says something like "use the BB ID associated with this device".
