BB Torch :: 9800 ''email Set Up Icon Not Responding''?
Jun 6, 2011
Although my BlackBerry service with O2 is connected and working as normal, I am totally without email on my Torch 9800. I have owned the Torch 9800 since March. All has been well until last week when I changed the password on one of the 3 email accounts I had set up on my device. This password change left one of the accounts unable to send or receive mail, and is also what lead me to discover that I could not enter email set up on my device or via my network providers website ( www.o2email.co.uk ) .I have spent hours on the phone with O2 discussing this issue. The usual checks and procedures have been carried out, battery pulls, checking settings etc and the service books have been deleted and resent several times. These actions have not resolved the problem but instead led to the loss from my device of the other 2 email accounts which were working correctly but have now disappeared into thin air. Having tried all possible solutions with O2 I now come here looking for an answer.
When I visit my Network Providers BlackBerry mail service trying to create an account using my pin etc, I am without fail getting a pop up box containing the error message ''Your account is not accessible via HTML browser. Please use your devive to access BlackBerry Internet Service'' !? The result is the same whether I log in from my device over 3G or Wireless, or from a PC (have tried several browsers) .On my device, when I click on the Email Accounts icon from the setup menu nothing happens, no response at all. I have tried many times and there is just no way to set up or edit mail accounts. I am without mail on my device and growing increasingly short of patience.
I am now hoping somebody here can offer me some advice on how to resolve this issue. hat use is a BlackBerry without email capabilities ? I see from researching email set up problems on the Torch 9800 that I am not alone here so if somebody at BlackBerry is listening ? If this is a Torch 9800 issue then I am sure you will be doing all you can to resolve this but in the meantime
Curve 9300, I've set up several email accounts ok a few months ago, now I want to add another the icon doesn't respond despite having worked fine before, all the other icons in the setup section are fine & my current emails are fine.
I have a 9800 that i loaded my hotmail account onto, and everything seems to work, other than the email icon is "grayed' out. Almost ghost like in appearance.
On my blackberry torch home screen, there is status icon on top which consists of a red circle with a white "w" in the middle of it. Just to the right is the number "1". Does anyone know what this means?
I have a BlackBerry Torch 9800 with the 6.0 Bundle 2647. Recently, I had to change my email passwords after learning that my account was used to send spam. After changing my passwords, I went into my email setup to change the passwords on my phone. However, when I tried to access the email setup, all it would do is the "loading" icon, followed by nothing. Attempting to leave the Setup would then cause the phone to lock up, necessitating a shutdown. I've tried hard-resetting it via battery pop, not sure what else I can do to access the email setup.
I have a box that says EN that comes up in the top right corner of the screen when I go to anything where I can type. This just started today. I think I might have hit an option in my pocket. I would like it to be removed.
use 9800 (torch 1) and i have installed BB App world on y handset, but not able to see its icon. so far i have tried- Switched off and restarted many times - Zero Result- Re-installed again - Zero result
Just thought I'd pass this along since when I tried to find it the other day on RIM's website I couldn't. If you want to download the ribbon icon for the built in Blackberry Maps you can go to http://www.blackberry.com/send/maps from your phone's browser to install it.I know when the phone was first released on AT&T people had speculated that it wasn't at mobile.blackberry.com because AT&T didn't want it there but it seems that they just hadn't updated the maps website for the Torch yet. BTW, it's still not at mobile.blackberry.com.
Did you notice your rss feeds icon changed? I just noticed mine a few minutes ago. My icon used to be an orange square-looking icon but now it's an abstract-looking yellow-green icon. I didn't update or changed anything on my phone. Is anyone else noticing that? The alert icon which shows when you have a new feed is still orange but when I open the app, the icon on the left of each feed is that abstract-looking yellow green icon.
I have my email going to my torch, and when a message comes in, a yellow envelope shows up. The problem is that the yellow envelope wont go away. I tried clicking the envelope, tried going into the mail folder, and I even deleted all the messages in the folder. Still there!
I powered off and on, nothing
took the battery out, nothing
took the cards out, nothing
any thoughts? my next try will be re-establishing my email accounts
I had an issue with my Torch 9800 smartphone, my phone booted and show a battery Icon with 2red lines across it. I have tried to wipe the OS with BBSAK 1.8.0, 1.8.2, 1.9.2 , JL_CMDR and Java Loader, none of this work for me, as they all fail to connect to my device. BBSAK could not detect my device. But BB desktop Manager can connect, detect and recongnise my device. When I try to update and reload the OS with DM and BB application loader, I get stuck up with an error message: "Reconnecting to JVM". My Laptop HP Pavilion dm4 Notebook is running 64-bit / Window 7.
I am trying to charge my blackberry after a weekend camping. The battery ran out. I plugged it into charge, it started to boot, the screen flashed white and now it won't come off the red x with a battery behind it.
I haven't found a resolution to my missing text message icon on my BB Torch. It was there a few days ago but it has since disappeared. I read and tried a few things. It doesn't even show up in the menu (device/delete data) after I sync'd. I do receive messages but without notification. Also the character length is only 28 per message (incoming). Outgoing is OK. Contacts are all there.the SMS in the menu there is ticked. Also I do not receive FaceBook notifications.
I have a facebook icon in the feeds indicator that I cannot remove. Normally when I click on the icon it takes me to the appropriate update which in turn automatically removes the icon.
Blackberry messenger is installed on my Torch-9800 but I cant find the icon anywhere on my phone. It all started after i sent a broadcast message with the messenger application and my phone started hanging. I had to remove the battery before I was able to do anything on the phone but my blackberry messenger has disappeared since then.
I am trying to change my email settings as i changed my email account. When i go to "Setup", "Email Accounts", then click on "Internet Mail Account", it simply circulates back to "Email Accounts". It keeps doing this repeatedly. I have done a soft and hard reset (by removing battery) and have updated software but nothing seems to help.
I'm not sure how to connect my school email to my blackberry Torch. My school e-mail is weird because when I go inside everything looks exactly like gmail but it isn't exactly gmail beacuse you can't sign on from www.gmail.com. Gotta go through the school website. It does provide instructions on how to link to the Blackberry but it doens't work for the Torch because the option doesn't exist. (Instructions)To set up the BlackBerry's email client with Google Apps email (IMAP), just follow these steps: On your BlackBerry device, navigate to your home screenSelect the icon that lets you set up email (this can be called Setup, Setup Wizard, Email Setup, BlackBerry Set-up, E-mail settings, or Personal Email Set-up)Follow the setup instructions provided on your device to create a new e-mail accountBe sure to enter the following:Mail Server: imap.gmail.comUsername: [your full Google Apps email address]Password: [your Google Apps password]IMAP Port: 993Allow the system to add your account, but do not enter your Google Apps password into the utility boxes (this causes the system to default to POP3 instead of IMAP)Select NextSelect Next again (bypassing the 'Additional Information Required' section)Select your account type, then select Next. You may encounter a 'We were unable to configure...' error. Select I will provide the settings to continueSelect the option that mentions 'IMAP/POP'Select I will provide the settings..., then select NextSelect Set up existing email account...Enter your Google Apps account information here, with 'imap.gmail.com' as your mail serverSelect NextSelect Save
where is the setting for controlling the auto signature on outgoing email? Every email that I send adds my name at the bottom. Can I turn that off/on or change the signature?
While in my pocket I somehow moved my Blackberry Messenger icon from the "All" pane to the "media" pane. I don't know how, and more importantly, I have no idea how to move it back. The simple menu item of "move" doesn't allow you to move an icon from pane to pane, and the "move to folder" is no help.
I live in Canada and when I cross oever to the United States i need to shut down my provider in order not to pay fees for roaming I`ve done this often in the past without any problems until yesterday.ver since i turned it back on, the hourglass icon pops up every few seconds which is extremely annoying My BB is only 18 months old but must say I seriously think i have a lemon. I`ve always had odd problems with it.Problems none of my friends have with theirs. This is really making me think of swithcing to Apple Does anyone else have this latest problem with their Torch 9800
I have a torch 9800 and had upgraded Os to 6.0.. I live in Virginia and use AT&T Wireless. I would get an error loading the program after reinstalling it. I had read about this issue and I decided not to worry about it and went on without those programs.Now..Today i no longer have app world? I uninstalled and reinstalled many times.Read many forums and even wiped the phone and reinstalled.still no app world. I do need assistance, as I had programs (installed thorugh app world) and would like to reinstall them.I currently have The Blackberry Torch 9800 3g, WiFi with the 6.0 Bundle 2647 (v6.0.0.600, Platform 6.6.0.223)
1. images are not automatically appearing (need to click get images) 2. the HTML emails are appearing too wide. I have to scroll to the right to see the other half of the email.
I got a BB Torch, i tried to set up the email by following the demo online, but there is no personal email setting on there just work email, and i tried to set up my email as enterprise account, it showed activation request failed.
After only a couple of days with my torch and not having modified it all, all of a sudden when I click on the TEXT message icon, it just shows my regular inbox. It used to show only SMS messages and was really cool. Now it shows emails and all! I dont see anywhere to change this back to the original behavior. I did a hard reset with no luck. So far I love my phone even with the minor annoyances like it hangs for a few seconds after unlocking it everytime, fine I can live with that. But I really want to fix this text message thing
When I plug this unit into any charger (wall or USB), the charging icon shows up (battery with th lightning bolt) shows up and the clock (screen saver) also gets activated as normal, but after 10-15 seconds the chrging indicator goes and it shows as if the unit is not charging. But I know that the handset is getting charged as I can use it easily for a day long as per the normal battery life.So effectively the unit always shows an empty battery icon (Red outlined hollow battery icon always) and the LED always blinks amber. But th ephone works normal except than this.
Also if I do a battery pull out and reinsert it, after boot up the battery shows 100% but the icon and battery level indicators drop back to 1% and empty battery icon within 15-20 mins with the phone continuing it's normal opeartion ith the empty battery icon (down to 1%)This is causing a lot of trouble as I never know what is the actual battery level and poses problem when I do not charge and the battery is actually low The unit is out of warranty and BB guys have refused to repair. I'm using the default theme and have not changes the theme so I can rule out the issues of 3rd party theme icons.
I just picked up a Torch and my friend that works at AT&T sold it to me so I told him not to worry about setting anything up and I can do it on my own... I was wrong haha. Heres my problem when I go to set up my email it only give me a BES option and I don't see any option for BIS.
Any way I can get this to show up? I tried to use the universal search and it popped up but when I tried to click on it nothing would happen.
