BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: Will Handset Screen Break Easily From Clicking?
Apr 6, 2010
Hi, I recently got pokemon red on Meboy, and since this game requires quite a bit of clicking, i was wondering if the screen can handle this, and will all this clicking wear down the screen mechanically?
Recently my Storm2 has been clicking alot louder than its supposed to. Sometimes it will click normal, others it will click like 5 times as loud. It sounds like something under the screen might be loose. The clicking almost has a squeak to it. Anyone else have an issue like this? It doesn't happen all the time. It comes in bursts maybe a few times a day and lasts for awhile each time before going back to normal click. Its starting to get really irritating.
So just today for some reason on the right side of my screen about 3/4 of the way down (basically the backspace button) it started clicking multiple times when I only want once. It feels like its clicking 3 or 4 times and it has never done this before. I'm running .451 and have been for a week or two now. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and could possibly know what is causing it.
Does anyone get annoyed with the clicking sound when typing?Personally, I don't mind the idea of having to push the screen in to type and select things. However, I'm not so happy with the sound that it makes when i am typing. (click click click click click click........)Its really very annoying when in a meeting or something and I want to respond to an email/bbm about the meeting and it makes the clicking noise. Somehow it seems louder than any of the other bb devices out there.
Personally, i'm really hoping that the Storm3 or even Storm4 has more of the iphone screen in which you just touch the screen to type, etc.
Ok I've been browsing around and seen a few things on this topic but I am a bit confused. I understand you can do a wipe using the phone and there is also this thing called Crackutil. I just want to completely wipe everything before I install OS .713 im currently running .607 and it is horrible. So guys whats the best way to wipe it?
My wife's storm 2 recently started acting very strange. The storm 2 is running .428. About 5 days ago, she told me that she was deleting e-mails, and it just spontaneously flipping screens, going from e-mail, to phone, to voice dailing, to camera, and also to some some other menu's (that she had never seen before), to other screens, going so fast that the phone wasn't working for her. She She didn't trust it to even use the phone to call me, or even answer it if I called her.
That day, when i got home, I went to hook it up to my pc to back the data from her phone, and I saw a white error page (of some sort, I couldn't read what it said), then it rebooted. After the reboot, I was able to backup the data, and the phone seemed to work right then. Then tonight, as I'm coming home, she told me it had started acting funny again. This time, she was typing up a text message, when the phone started double typing (i.e., she would press a letter/number and she would here 2 clicks, and 2 characters would appear on the screen, so she had to spend alot of time removing the extra characters. Then all of a sudden, it started flipping screens, going into phone mode, going back to home screen. Then the a menu would pop up, with one of the items highlighted, but she couldn't change the option it had highlighted. She had to do multiple battery pulls, to finally get it to work.
I recently went to Verizon and had my storm2 replaced due to a crackle and distortion in the handset speaker. The new phone just yesterday developed the same problem.I am wondering if it is the result of getting debris into the speaker, and I would like to know if there is a way to clean it if so, as it is a pain in the *** to deal with the replacement thing.
I have a new storm 2 for Verizon and the back cover scratches real easy. I wanted to know if anyone knew how to get rid the the scratches? I have a cover on it now but they happened right away.
I have a strange issue with voice dialing on my 9550. When I use my Rocketfish bluetooth headset it works fabulously, almost always gets the correct name, but when I use the handset it's almost always wrong. This has been the case since day 1 on my S2 regardless of the OS I've been on and I've tried all the officials and several hybrids. I'm now on the official 713.
Well long story short my blackberry storm died today and verizon is sending me a replacement, and was nice enough to send me a storm 2 as a replacement only bad news is, the storm 2 replacement does NOT come with a battery door.so my question is, does the blackberry storm battery door fit the storm 2? if not,
does anyone know any reliable websites where I can get a blackberry storm 2 battery door?
I just got a replacement Storm 2 dated Mar 6, 2010. My old Storm worked pretty well but sometimes the bottom row buttons would stick, especially when using the Seidio extended battery with the plastic battery cover. I have a week or so to try both out before sending back the old one.
The new screen feels more... buttery. Its smooth. Buttery smooth. The old screen is clickier. The bottom row buttons on the new screen are a little sloppy compared to when you press the middle of the screen. Does anyone else notice this? I don't like that. But so far the new screen hasn't locked up on the bottom row as much, especially when trying to use it while the Storm is lying on a table.
For typing, the old screen seems just a bit faster, maybe just a bit less pressure required. New screen is a bit harder to type on but smoother. The old screen has a warmer white color than the old, but that is OK the old was fairly "blue".I don't know for sure yet which I like better! But will update here as I find more. If new screen prevents "hard button" syndrome than that's probably enough.
I have scrolled through the forums reading about both these phones and i have a few questions
1.What i am still unsure of is which phone is better suited to Canadian phone companies neither will get 3g coverage but will one work better than the other like will they both get 2.5g coverage?
2. Also i have read that possibly the 9520 will be comin to rogers but i havnt heard anything recent on it does anyone have news on a release date or anything?
3. Right now i am thinkin of buyin the storm 9550 from telus and either goin with fido or terminate my contract with them and stay with telus or move to rogers. Is there a company that is better suited to the storm 2 or will either giv me 2.5g?
Okay, got some dust under the screen. Not really noticeable except for one spec that catches my eye every time I look at the screen. Really annoying. I don't have insurance. Is there anything RIM or Verizon will do for me?
My phone fell out of my coat pocket and landed on my garage floor and shattered pretty good. Just wondering if anyone knows where I can buy a replacement screen? The LCD is not damaged at all, and if I were to have Verizon replace the screen it would be about $120.
My S2 screen has a nice set of spider cracks on the bottom right hand corner luckily I have the insurance but money is tight so my buddy is going to let me use his S1 for the time being.

I guinea pigged this, and can confirm it works...partially !!! Install .451, replace java folder with .497, then copy and paste .484 java over that... (NOTE: you may experience an app error reset, just let it reboot and you should be fine!)
My BB browser home page currently defaults to a T-Mobile web'n'walk page. no matter what I set in the options, it is overridden when the page loads. I don't actually use it as my browser, but I do have a couple of launchers that require the default browser and when launched, they also end up being overridden and defaulting to this annoying home page, making any launchers completely useless.
Does anyone know of a way to further dim the clock when the BB is in bedside mode? I keep my screen brightness at 60%. When my BB is in its charging cradle and in bedside mode at night (set to auto dim) it is still too bright (according to my wife). I'd really like to be able to dim the screen so it is barely visible - perhaps 10% brightness - while in bedside mode.
I started noticing dust accumulating under my screen last week and took it in to vzw store yesterday to see if they would replace it and was told they could just blow it out with compressed air but didn't have any available, and then was belittled because I didn't have a case on it, I actually have a Zagg full body kit on it. So needless to say they didn't do anything so I called *611 and they told me I had to go back when they had compressed air to see if that works and if it doesn't then they will decide what to do.
Has anyone else ever had this problem with vzw not replacing their storm 2 because of dust and is there any case that would have prevented dust from infiltrating my screen.
I never knew how people got dust under there screen, I finally have seen some speckles under the upper right side. I do not know how they got there as this screen is supposed to be sealed.. I see that is not completely true.
I just got the bb storm 2 from verizon and I don't want all 8 of these apps on my home screen.all i want is messages, email, bbm and media.how do i get rid of the other icons on my home screen?
Since my Storm2 took a sip of my coffee several weeks ago, the screen lock button no longer does anything. Is there any way to re-route the screen-lock function to another button or perhaps a screen icon?
I know there are other threads on this topic, especially regarding the Storm series of phones, but not anything from this year. So what's the update with this issue? It used to only rear its ugly head in landscape mode on my phone; now it auto dims (yes, with auto dimming turned off in my options) regardless of screen position or time of day outside. It's so bad now that it will auto dim and then brighten again like twice a minute. Really annoying when I'm web browsing or watching a video.
I did not like the .320 screen calibration because the clicking was a bit on the hard side and the bottom buttons were hard to press sometimes. After switching to .428, the screen seems to be too soft. I get the double click effect on the bottom buttons although they are much easier to click now. While typing it just feels too soft. Yes, its easier to click but sort of makes the phone feel a bit cheap. So .320 was a bit too hard and .428 is a bit too soft. I really hope the next leak will put it right in the middle or at least give us an option to change it ourselves.
