BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: Battery Time Is Not Good - How To Fix
Feb 7, 2010
I finally updated my alltel account to verizon, and went with the Storm 2. So far I like it, anything I need to know about this phone?
One thing I have to ask is I noticed my battery isnt as good as my old phone, I was searching around and noticed some people switch from Global to 1XEV, what exactly is the diffrence, I switched mine but havent had a chance to see what the diffrence is. I did notice that sometimes under my signal bars that it said 1X, then went to 3G, then i caught it earlier saying searching for CDMA(i think thats what it said"not sure").
im having a replacement storm shipped my 3rd from distorted speaker well my questions are what OS is verizon shipping is it still .320 or a better more stable build and second if it still has .320 what OS is the best now im running .428 and dont have any issues besides the sms glitch witch is getting annoying and still not so good battery life so there whats the best out now?
I've been thinking of getting a Blackberry for quite some time now and decided to get the storm2 due to it's larger screen.I m located in Canada and using Fido (or Rogers). So I could get either one right? But why do I hear some rumors that 9550 is not so good on GSM as the 9520? Should I get 9550 or 9520? I wont be using the CDMA at all, but it seems that I could get 9550 a lot easier than 9520 in Canada.
I am totally brand new towards BB.Recently i had spent about 2 to 3 weeks reading from the forum about 9700 and storm 9520.I myself prefered getting the storm as i want to use the phone more on internet browsing. After reading tonnes of threads, i got to be even more confuse. It seems there are alot of ppl hating this device and alot of ppl loving this device.I guess it has alot to do with the firmware tat each storm is running on. I dun intend to complicates the device and only wish to serve net, bbm, msn, fb with ease. So mostly i might not be getting any 3rd party apps as i am afraid of causing the device to cease normal operations. My frens had been asking me to get the iphone but i do not wan to be seen carrying the charger all around juz to charge the phone twice a day.My gf is currently using a 9700, but i feel the screen is too small for internet browsing.I had another 1.5 mths more to go for making the decision of getting storm 2. I really hope those verteran user of storm 2 could give me some advice on shd i get storm 2?Or is there a better option for other phone which might serve for my purposes better?Another thing is tat i had seen ppl asking about is the clicking sound could it be disable even with the latest firmware upgrade?
So now I am on my 3rd Storm2.. Gettign very frustrated....
i have been back and forth pretty much DAILY with VZW... My phone seems to drop signal left and right... it will show full then none then full... it goes up and down all the time no matter where i am... VZW has given me 3 phones, a new phone # hoping that will solve the issue... NOTHING IS WORKING!! they have had 3 different troblue tickets opened and said there was a tower issue by my house! what a crock of **** that was... 3 BB in the house 2 Storm2's 1 tour and a VZW Mobile broadband card and my phone is the only one with this issue...
now i have my 4th phone on the way since November... i never had a problem with my curve like this.. this issue is causing my battery to drain form 4%-25% hour... (depends on the day)
I have done full wipes and restores, full wipes and manual Restores, Upgrading OS's, *228, new phone #, New phones.... i am getting frustrated because i am missing alot of calls and some days i cant even use my phone...
they also have yet another trouble ticket opened... lets see how this goes...
BUT will my S2 automatically change time at 2am? I need to know for sure because I have to get up for work at 6. I dont remember last year with my S1 if it automatically did.
I don't know if this is a result of OS .607, but every time I get a notification, either an SMS, MMS, FB notification, etc, and I remove the device from my magnetic holster, the thing stays frozen for about 30 seconds before it allows me to put in my code and unlock the phone (btw, I use pattern lock). As I said, I don't know if its because of OS .607, but it has been happening a lot lately. It also does not flip around which also tells me that the device is frozen for a short time before I am able to put in my swipe code... or see the screen flip
Didn't know where else to put this, since Idk if it's a 9550 only thing or all BB's, but when I receive a text message I like to know when I received it, or how long ago. But whenever I tap the received message it always says received one minute ago, unless it was on an earlier date. But, if I get a text at 8am and check it at noon, then tap on it, it says received one minute ago. Any way to fix this?
So I live in california and traveled to hawaii. Time adjusted fine but when I hooked up my storm2 to my laptop thru usb to use tether it reverted back to California time. Now my laptop is still set to cali time but why would it change my phone? I tried a reset and *228 but its still on california time.
My Storm II about a week ago started doing this Updating Time Zone. When it does it, it does it about every three minutes, switching to another time zone and then coming back to the one it belongs in. This is getting frustrating as it messes up my calendar and I keep getting these meeting notices. I have removed the battery and that has not helped. At first I thought it was when I was in areas with bad coverage but today it was doing it while in Minneapolis Minnesota. Anyone else having this trouble and what did you do? I have updated the Roaming and it still does it.
So I have notice that my battery does not charge to the fullest.when I charge my phone is says that its done charging, but after I get a couple of msgs and stuff it drops to 75%.I dont even make calls and it drops that much.Any one with the same problem? could it be the new OS? im running .607.I dont remember doing it when I had .320
Ok well friday i got a storm 2 and i let if go dead then i fully charged it. well i have only been getting around 12 hours of use out of it. today i only text and talked on the phone for less than 5 min. and i got 15 hours out of it. should i go to Verizon and complain and see if they will give me a new battery?
It seems like the bettery life is a pretty big issue for most storm users. I use my pone pretty heavily, but another potential cause seems like leaving the phone in "global" or "world" mode... I live in germany, is this going to make a difference on which mode i use? Also, isthis the biggest battery you can fit without getting those big ugly doors?
I was scared today. So I wanted to charge up my phone in my charge station and found out that there was no charge going into the phone. I then tried to plug it into my computer and still no charge to the phone...So Now im scared!!!!
I then turn my phone off and power it back on to find out it say invalid sim card, and it still does not take any charge....Then I pull out the battery and restart the phone and the sim card is properly found, and it is now charging just fine. In the end everything turned out fine! What leads me to the question WHAT CANT A BATTERY PULL DO???When in doubt pull it out!( Not to be misinterpreted)
Went to "MY WORLD" and tries to log in to retrieve my purchased apps as I've done tons of times before. It 1st says please wait retrieving then. Unable to authenticate user at this time. please try again later. It's said this all day. The user and password are def. correct.
My battery life really sucks, I have it on only 1EV, no gps, no wifi, and min apps and I still only get like a day of full battery with moderate use. My battery also charges from basically dead to full in like an hour or 2. I'm running .428 on my 9550, should I try to see what verizon can do? or can I do something on my end you think?
I have a storm 2 on the verizon network and for the past month my phone goes from full charge to completely dead over night while im sleeping. At first i thought maybe the phone or battery were defective but thats not the case. I noticed that when im at home my phone is constantly trying to connect to the net, and that my BBM and browser or any internet service on my phone completely shuts down. This causes my phone to constantly try to reconnect to these apps which in turn drains my battery. Outside of my home, the phone and internet work fine. The strange thing is that for the past 6 months the phone and internet worked great, but in the past month this began to occur. According to verizon there isnt an outage and all i keep hearing is to do a damn battery pull! Does anyone know what might be causing this problem; oh and even when im home the phone still displays a 3G signal, but still does not connect.
Symptom: Calendar takes ~5 seconds to load. Upon loading, another ~5 seconds till it will respond to any activity. I have it default to Agenda view, as I always have. Prior to v5.0.0.607 this was NEVER an issue. Work-around: If I turn "show free time" to ON, then it works perfect. Loads instantly, scrolls instantly, etc. However, turned OFF, it reverts to issue above.Problem is that I really don't want to show the free time on my view. Whom else has this issue, anyone? Does anyone know how to resolve this?
I've had the S2 for a couple of months now. This week am in Vegas at a trade show and since arriving, the battery life is maybe 75% less. I checked to the limit of my ability to see if there is anything running that is not normally running, but find nothing.
I understand that there is a way to check what apps are running other than going to each app to check, but I don't know how to do that.
So last night i charged my battery and it was full before i went to bed....in the morning however i woke up and the battery had somehow drained a good quarter of the way...i dont understand how this happend as it has never happend before but i know its not normal for the battery to drain that much with no useage at all.....has this happend to anyone else? What may be the reason for this.
