BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: Battery Charging Way Too Fast
Jan 25, 2010
My battery life really sucks, I have it on only 1EV, no gps, no wifi, and min apps and I still only get like a day of full battery with moderate use. My battery also charges from basically dead to full in like an hour or 2. I'm running .428 on my 9550, should I try to see what verizon can do? or can I do something on my end you think?
So last night i charged my battery and it was full before i went to bed....in the morning however i woke up and the battery had somehow drained a good quarter of the way...i dont understand how this happend as it has never happend before but i know its not normal for the battery to drain that much with no useage at all.....has this happend to anyone else? What may be the reason for this.
Any time I get more than an hour from home my battery drains at 8-10% per hour even with no use. This is compared to 2-3% an hour with moderate use while not roaming. Anyone know why this is... or more importantly, how to stop it?
So I have notice that my battery does not charge to the fullest.when I charge my phone is says that its done charging, but after I get a couple of msgs and stuff it drops to 75%.I dont even make calls and it drops that much.Any one with the same problem? could it be the new OS? im running .607.I dont remember doing it when I had .320
Only two months old. Battery drained almost all the way down today but caught it before it powered off. Plugged in the wall charger and verified it was charging on the screen but later it somehow shutdown all the way on its own. Unplugged battery and tried charging again and it starts off with the red LED being lit for about 30 seconds, the LED goes out and after about another 30 seconds I usually get a solid white screen with the empty battery icon that has a lightning bolt in blue going accross it. What exactly is this screen supposed to indicate to me? Left it charging for 30 plus minutes and still get no response from any of the buttons on the phone nor will it power on with anything I try.
If I unplug the charger get the red LED again, then a small timer icon spinning, then the Blackberry screen where it appears to be starting up but about 1/4 the way the phone shuts off. Sometimes instead of the white battery charging screen mentioned above I only get a small stripe of white background and the rest of the screen is black. I get essentially the same results using a car charger. Weird, confused, any ideas? Battery fried somehow?
Everytime charging the storm 2, the screen can't be used it, it is not sensitive when I try to touch it, it is happen even the phone is finished charging, I need to take battery off and on to reset everytime to have phone to become normal. How can I fix it?
I m starting to use my S2 more and more and Im trying to find a browser thats fast and user/eye friendly. The native browser is slow and annoying.I installed Opera but I have this annoying floating bar in the middle of the page that I can't get rid of but it doesn't let me view the page.I installed Bolt but its not accurate on the clicks but I will say its very fast.
Is anyone having difficulty charging the Storm2 with the USB cord? I've had this thing plugged in for about 45 minutes and I don't think i've gotten any more battery.
Just the other day, I had to use my phone while it was charging (wall charger). The phone kept kicking into speaker mode everytime it went from portrait to landscape mode and back to normal when in portrait mode Is this a bug or by design and why the eff would this be by design?
Ok well friday i got a storm 2 and i let if go dead then i fully charged it. well i have only been getting around 12 hours of use out of it. today i only text and talked on the phone for less than 5 min. and i got 15 hours out of it. should i go to Verizon and complain and see if they will give me a new battery?
It seems like the bettery life is a pretty big issue for most storm users. I use my pone pretty heavily, but another potential cause seems like leaving the phone in "global" or "world" mode... I live in germany, is this going to make a difference on which mode i use? Also, isthis the biggest battery you can fit without getting those big ugly doors?
I was scared today. So I wanted to charge up my phone in my charge station and found out that there was no charge going into the phone. I then tried to plug it into my computer and still no charge to the phone...So Now im scared!!!!
I then turn my phone off and power it back on to find out it say invalid sim card, and it still does not take any charge....Then I pull out the battery and restart the phone and the sim card is properly found, and it is now charging just fine. In the end everything turned out fine! What leads me to the question WHAT CANT A BATTERY PULL DO???When in doubt pull it out!( Not to be misinterpreted)
I have a storm 2 on the verizon network and for the past month my phone goes from full charge to completely dead over night while im sleeping. At first i thought maybe the phone or battery were defective but thats not the case. I noticed that when im at home my phone is constantly trying to connect to the net, and that my BBM and browser or any internet service on my phone completely shuts down. This causes my phone to constantly try to reconnect to these apps which in turn drains my battery. Outside of my home, the phone and internet work fine. The strange thing is that for the past 6 months the phone and internet worked great, but in the past month this began to occur. According to verizon there isnt an outage and all i keep hearing is to do a damn battery pull! Does anyone know what might be causing this problem; oh and even when im home the phone still displays a 3G signal, but still does not connect.
I finally updated my alltel account to verizon, and went with the Storm 2. So far I like it, anything I need to know about this phone?
One thing I have to ask is I noticed my battery isnt as good as my old phone, I was searching around and noticed some people switch from Global to 1XEV, what exactly is the diffrence, I switched mine but havent had a chance to see what the diffrence is. I did notice that sometimes under my signal bars that it said 1X, then went to 3G, then i caught it earlier saying searching for CDMA(i think thats what it said"not sure").
I've had the S2 for a couple of months now. This week am in Vegas at a trade show and since arriving, the battery life is maybe 75% less. I checked to the limit of my ability to see if there is anything running that is not normally running, but find nothing.
I understand that there is a way to check what apps are running other than going to each app to check, but I don't know how to do that.
Just got my S2 replacement and upgraded to .428 before I even did the swap devices with the DM, and now this phone is set up just like my last one with all the same apps and it is absolutely killing the battery. I dont know what it could be, I have went through and checked the obvious to make sure it was all good( brightness, 1XEV only, no apps running in the background or updating, wifi off etc). I've lost 10% in less than 20 mins after a full charge. Maybe delete all the apps and reload them one by one again?
My Storm 2 started doing something strange last couple of days.I have had it since the day Verizon made the Storm 2 available. When going to bed, the battery is almost fully charged. About 8 hours later it beeps and when checked the battery is dead.Phone is in standby, i.e. display off, and no apps running.I took it into Verizon and they had no clue.
battery life for the Storm 2 , in my opinion is OK running .320 and not to sound arrogant or jerky, cause Im a humble guy, but battery life on my Tank's Hybrid ACT 2 (.497) 95X0 hass been really great.
is battery life between the Storm 1 (newest build) and Storm 2 really that much different? Think about it.Well, I dont think that much.I think the same if not better especially with ACT 2.This certainly isnt an advertisement for my Hybrid so I apologize in advace -- please read on.
What we dont think about is this. The Storm 1 's click needed no energy, just the enrgy from our fingers , right? Well the Storm 2's click was revamped using piezo technology (genius!) to give us this hassle free click which is 10 times better to say the least. What WE dont think about is that this NEW technology in the Storm 2 is electronic and requires a Power source which is the battery. of course point being is that:
1.) we dont realize how many times we click the screen a day and
2.) how much battery energy is actually used to power the screen click. The Storm 2 is ALMOST the same phone -- its the same CPU.we do have more built in memory and a newer screen (way better color saturation, the Storm 1 was a very cold color scheme, very blueish tint)So in turn, we must recognize the fact that we have the same if not better battery life with the same battery and MORE energy being used to power the phone (screen clicks)
Now I believe this supports my claim.I BELIEVE the "CLICK" is partly controlled by the OS's power scheme.I believe the OS talks to the battery and the phone to manage the power used to "click" this is why we ALL see an inconsistent screen click softer but yet more responsive or "smart" after a fresh charge and the later in the day, maybe a more lazy click still a "satisfactory" click, but yet and not to be ignored, a different click.Of course I will agree that different builds and/or .cods will control the click, but I believe it only controls the "default" click set forth buy that build number.ie. .320 vs .428 or .428 vs .464 or .464 vs .497
Just my 2 cents to throw in so when we all, including myself, complain about a slightly different screen click throughout the day and battery life that isnt where we want it to be.I always keep in mind "Hey RIM, not to shabby of a job keeping battery life similar to the Storm 1 considering we run more apps (due to more memory) and ALL of the thousands of screen clicks we make everyday"
I just got a replacement Storm2 and it says that I have to charge the battery for 12 hours before even turning it on? Is this one of those old battery myths or should I actually pay attention to this?
im having a replacement storm shipped my 3rd from distorted speaker well my questions are what OS is verizon shipping is it still .320 or a better more stable build and second if it still has .320 what OS is the best now im running .428 and dont have any issues besides the sms glitch witch is getting annoying and still not so good battery life so there whats the best out now?
I had to take my phone up to verizon store to check it out and I watched the tech go to the Options menu, bring up the keyboard, type somthing in, and the phone reset like it does with Quickpull or a battery pull....
I just moved to a different carrier so I got now 3g I was in EDGE so i am not sure if battery last less.
With EDGE i should have almost 2 days of battery. But with 3g I am having a lot of troubles usually 6 hours, I have been reading that if your phone changes a lot from 3g to 1EX it drains your battery quick has this been confirmed? this can be the cause? I am not sure what to do now
Well long story short my blackberry storm died today and verizon is sending me a replacement, and was nice enough to send me a storm 2 as a replacement only bad news is, the storm 2 replacement does NOT come with a battery door.so my question is, does the blackberry storm battery door fit the storm 2? if not,
does anyone know any reliable websites where I can get a blackberry storm 2 battery door?
So once again I am posting becasue I've been having this issue with my storm all day long. It started this morning when I noticed my phone was using data nonstop and it began to drain my battery. My battery died already once and now I am charging the phone with the radio turned off. It keep showing the arrows sending and recieving from the moment I turn the radio on. I realize that .419 had many issues but I went as far as deleting all my apps and one theme and still I get this problem. I also deleted BBM but no matter what I try it continues. Can anyone shed some light on how I can fix this little lemon. I pulled battery about 10 times what can I do?
I received a "like-new" replacement today, hopefully with the new silicone actuators. The box had the green dot on the flap, but the "test date" on the opposite side of the box is Jan 21, 2010. Where do I locate the 3 digit date code inside the battery cavity?
I have scrolled through the forums reading about both these phones and i have a few questions
1.What i am still unsure of is which phone is better suited to Canadian phone companies neither will get 3g coverage but will one work better than the other like will they both get 2.5g coverage?
2. Also i have read that possibly the 9520 will be comin to rogers but i havnt heard anything recent on it does anyone have news on a release date or anything?
3. Right now i am thinkin of buyin the storm 9550 from telus and either goin with fido or terminate my contract with them and stay with telus or move to rogers. Is there a company that is better suited to the storm 2 or will either giv me 2.5g?
