BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: Phone's Left Side Screen Makes Sound And Is Sticky?
Mar 9, 2010I got my refurb in the mail today and the left side of the screen sounds like someone spilled soda under the screen and it dried. So when I type, especially with typing in landscape it clicks and makes this weird sound like there is something sticky under the screen. Anyone else had this issue? I called Verizon and they are sending me another phone overnight...but still...

Aug 6, 2012I've been having some issues recently with a buggy ALT key on my keyboard, keeps on self-activating. Think this has something to do with my cellphone pouch having been such a snug fit. I have taken out the key completely, but somehow it STILL keeps on activating the ALT function while busy typing. I have noticed I can get along just fine without it, so is there a way to completely disable the ALT function on the phone short from blowing out the circuit board?

Aug 15, 2011I realize this topic is being discussed elsewhere on this forum, but that thread is now several pages long. Any chance the moderators here can set up a sticky on the forum with an official FAQ on the problem, possible fixes (tried, proven or otherwise) and, most importantly, any feedback on when Motorola and its new Google masters will, as some say, send out a software fix OTA?
Would also love to see any official Motorola or Sprint comments on this issue posted on the sticky as well, so we can separate the official company line from rumor.
I really like this phone, but this calling audio bug is unacceptable and I will return it and spurn any Motorola devices from here out unless the companies provide some concrete feedback on what they're doing to correct this issue and a timetable for when they will take action to do so.

Aug 27, 2010I've this issues on previous Storm 2 devices. Surprisingly, due to some irresponsibility issues, my 3rd Storm 2 is an insurance replacement and of course the first thing I did was upgrade to a hybrid OS.So on a previous OS I had the alarm settings set perfectly like previous working alarms on my older Storm 2's, but the tone won't go off. However, the Alarm shows the pop-up saying dismiss/snooze. So I upgraded to a newer hybrid, and of course the same issue. I'm thinking this issue is only due to my device since the alarm has yet to work. But it is definitely a necessity.
And I can't return my device to Verizon and get it replaced anymore due to the insurance replacement....well at least that's what the rep said when I took it there due to activation issues.
BB Bold 9000 :: Wrong Alerts Sounding On OS 5.0
Jan 19, 2010I have been experiencing an interesting issue since I upgraded to the official 5.0 OS for my 9000. I have my profiles set to play tone A for emails and tone B for SMS messages. (Tone A and Tone B are just generic tones preloaded on the BB for the sake of the explanation - I doubt the particular tone I have set is causing an issue). this worked fine with my older OS, but since the upgrade I have been experiencing random times when the tones will actually revert to tone C (which sounds like BBPro_Sanguine for the record). This occurs without any predictable pattern as a replacement for either tone A or tone B. Sometimes I can go a day without this issue, but the next day I may notice this Tone C alerting me for hours until it reverts back to the proper tone (either A or B depending on if the alert is for an email or SMS), and I have absolutely nothing to do with it reverting to the proper tone. I have tried a battery pull, but the problem persisted.

Jan 19, 2010I noticed that there are times I do not get an audible when the phone is charging. Whether it's with the home charger the phone came with or a car charger (from Verizon), the majority of the time, I do not hear the alert when a message comes in. This has happened to me with all of my Tours (on my 3rd replacement). I do not have any custom ring tones/alerts. All the alerts I use are the ones that come with the phone. I don't have any 3rd party apps which would affect the tones. Does anyone else experience or hear of this? If so is there a fix to this?

BB Storm 9500 :: Green Light And Black Screen Don't Work On Storm
Jul 31, 2010I'm having problem with my storm phone ever since it was dropped in water. I left it to dry for a week. Since then I replaced my battery and the phone came on with the clock and then the screen showed up. and could not do anything. Then the screen went black. Now when I try to recharge it only a green light appears and nothing else. Did I kill my battery and is the phone no longer good or it's just my screen and i can replace it.

Feb 26, 2010I have had my Storm since it came out. I take great care of it, only update with official revs of the BB OS. I only have a few applications. I turned it on a few days ago and got a white screen that had a JVM error 102. Called VZ tech support and they told me I had a corrupt file in the OS and asked me to unistall and reinstall. I have done this 5 times and still I have a white screen that has reset on it. Even doing a cold boot, nothing changes.

Apr 8, 2011I have a Blackberry Storm 9530 that I bought on eBay. I accidently dropped my metal water bottle on the bottom half of the screen. Immediately there was a tiny crack that appears in the graphics of the screen, but nothing on the surface. Now anytime I try to get the screen to respond all that appears is that little crack. The LED is working, and I'm assuming that the phone is still functioning. I've tried pulling the battery two times now, but the screen isnt responding.

Oct 2, 2010My phone a Storm has developed a problem where the screen is blank though everything is working fine and I can receive calls and emails. Shortly before this happened, the phone would not sow the words im typing and they would only show up after pressing the space button after which the phone would freeze and require a battery pull. The phone has been giving me problems for a bit so I thought this was one of the many problems but now the phone cant show anything although the backlight will be on. I thought it was a software issue (I started using the phone brand in November when it was brand new so I didnt expect this to be a hardware problem) and tried upgrading and downgrading with the same results.Looking at this forum this looks like a very common problem amongst Storm phones. Since I bought this phone off an online auction (in South Africa which means I cant 'return it to my carrier') and the Warranty type was listed as carried by the manufacturer is there a way I can return this phone to RIM for repairs sonce the phone is only 3months old and I still have some warranty?

Sep 12, 2010I wish there was an easy way for me to portray the amount of disdain I have for my Storm at this time, however, that won't do me any good!I'm just looking to get some insight to my problem and whether or not it can be resolved! It would be really unfortunate if I had to replace my lump of a phone as I am a college student that just moved away from home and am in the middle of my two-year contract.My phone is still in operating order minus the faulty touchscreen, it still receives messages, emails, and even phone calls. All the side buttons work, in short, the screen is just dead.I did not drop it nor spill any liquids on it and I've performed a plethora of battery pulls. I'm at a loss!Let me describe the events that occurred before (seemingly) death of my touchscreen. I was at a friends house preparing for a 9/11 5k race when I noticed my battery was running low so I left it in a safe place to quietly run out of steam because I had no need to carry a phone during a race. At this point it was still fully functional. After the race, I check my phone to see if it was out of power yet which it was. I get home later that night and charge it only to rudely surprised by an inoperable screen. I cleaned the screen and did a few battery pulls afterwards in hopes it was only a minor problem to no avail.

I was also in a moderate car crash the day prior so perhaps that may have caused some problems? Externally, my phone is in mint condition. I suppose this just hasn't been my week!

Aug 3, 2012My storm 2 is broken...The touch screen has suddenly stopped working and everythime I boot the phone I get a white screen with various different errors and codes. Each time errors are different...Im sure the phone is unrepairabl so I need to recover my BBM contacts... I've recovered my phonebook, music, pics, files etc from previous backups but I need my BBM contacts... If I can remote access the phone from my laptop I can do it but I don't know how...

May 4, 2010My Storm 1 crashed Sunday night with message on screen stating 'Reload Softwares 552'. I called Verizon Tech Support and they just ended up giving me a brand new Storm 2 for free! All I had to do was re-sign my contract for another two years. Gonna miss my Storm 1 but the Storm 2 is sweet! Just got it today. Anyone wanting to upgrade, try using that excuse.

Mar 21, 2010When my screen shows two lines of icons at the bottom, and a few assorted smaller icons at the top (not when all the screen is filled with four rows of icons), the icons at the top aren't in any of the documentation I have read. They are:
1. a small, black circle, with an arrow pointed at about 7:30, and a tiny red circle. I got this, it shows an SMS pending to be read.
2. a gold-colored globe (with latitude and longitude lines, that's how I think it's a globe), with a number "1" next to it
3. A blue square with a little white squiggle, and a red circle.What are they? Other than No. 1, I haven't found them in the doc.
