So I have the Bold 9000, and I was looking at the status of signal in dB. To do this, you go:
Options--> Status.
In 3G, the highest value is -70dB regardless how good the signal is.
In 2G, the highest value seems to be -55dB.
How can you make the 3G status to be as accurate as the 2G status, as in, to display numbers above -70dB...
my new message indicator will not go away. i have no unopened items (even have used Search to try to find them). In the main menu, it always shows a (1) in front of my email address even if i delete all emails.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm purchasing a used Bold for $10. The owner says she did a master reset by pressing ctrl+alt+del. The phone went black and only the red indicator light comes on. Did the battery pull and charged it for hours but still nothing. Next steps? What may have happened?

At first it was just one sms and the number has gone up to 4 unread sms messages and i have looked and searched everywhere, deleted, did numerous battery pulls, even leaving the battery out for an extended amount of time, tried changing the theme etc etc. Is there any way to fix this?
View 11 Replies View RelatedThere is a golden pouch (maybe an envelope with a strap around the bottom) that appeared at the bottom of the email icon. Can't find it anywhere in the documentation and can't figure out what it is when I select the email envelope it does not indicate anything different.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI work out in the middle of nowhere quite often, where phone signal is either very weak, or non-existent. (I am with Orange BTW). The problem seems to be that when I have been out of signal range for a while, (shortest period so far about 30 mins), and I come back into range, my BB doesn't automatically pick the signal up. The only way that I know to re-gain the signal, is to turn the phone off (red button not battery re-boot!) and back on again. The phone then finds the signal and everything is normal again......that is until I go out of range again! Is there a shortcut to re capture the mobile signal rather than off/on?

Somewhat brighter blue for signal, Somehwat darker blue for no signal
it is impossible to tell if I have a zero bar signal or full bar signal (all in between are kind of visible)....
Ironically the indicator for not connected to Google services is very easy to read - but in most cases only lasts a few seconds...
Suggestion for the next patch: Turn up the level of blue for signal and go to grey for no signal to make the indicator visible.
Bought the phone on the day the phone was released. Everything was perfect until today. Endless reboot. The signal indicator is crossed out (red crossed out circle). Makes me think the radio is somehow fried. Tried factory reset.. Same thing. Endless reboot.

Plus they've got all the parts available already, just need a little engineering to fit the trackpad and everything else. C'mon RIM. We know you can do it. I'm sure you'd sell millions of them.

I need this for work and so I will be forking some dough out of my pocket to get one of the two following phones: Bold 9000 (I'll pay 100$ Canadian, not Us) Curve 8530 (pay 24.99$ Canadian). I am very used to the Iphone and HTC Touch Pro 2 (not trying to start a flaming/argument/anything else , its just what i'm used to). I am very used to browsing with the other phones and I have heard that BB phones are not up to par, so my expectations will be low. Out of the two phones however, does one perform better than the other (Curve 8530 vs Bold 9000)? Out of the two phones, which one do you recommend overall. I have read that the Bold 9000 even though it is older, it still outperforms the 8530...

The device still works, but two thirds of the LCD is now white and there's what looks like an inkblot on the left side of the screen. I'd like to try to fix it, but don't really want to shell out a lot of $ to do so --- I'm a month away from upgrading.Does anyone have any suggestions, or perhaps a dead BlackBerry with a working screen that you're willing to part with? A DIY repair -- this is out of warranty anyway -- looks straightforward, but I'm not sure I want to spend the $100 or so for a new OEM part to replace the LCD screen.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a bold 9000 and I can not connect to the internet. Carrier is AT&T and I live in the North East (NYC area). Worked fine up until yesterday (Jan 25). Now gmail, facebook, browser - none work. I've tried the battery pull, turning on/off the network, run a diagnostic test from mobile network options. In the mobile network test i get the volling anomolies "Blackberry PIN-PIN: No" and it says can't connect to my email (gmail).
View 5 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I pulled my phone out of the holster and It was really hot and when i looked at it i realized it was off, and wouldnt turn back on. just a red light comes on like normal upon a battery pull but after it turns off the red light comes back on again once more then stays off for good. unless i plug it in then it comes on and goes off all the time. I got it powered back up yesterday but then it did it again. Today I plugged it in and I saw a picture of a battery come up on the screen showing it as empty, i was hoping that meant it might charge up. but no such luck. My main objective is just to get the phone up long enough to back up the info on the phone.

View 1 Replies View Relatedquick question regarding the LED coverage indicator.I currently have 2 bb's a curve 8310 and of course a bold 9700. i have set both bb's to have the LED coverage indicator on. the curve 8310 LED constantly blinks green while the 9700 only blinks while im on a call or if i am using my bbm. the BOLD always has full bars of coverage so im not sure if they changed the way the led indicator works or if there is just a problem with my 9700.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a BlackBerry Bold 9700. I have an unread message indicator (little yellow envelope +3) on my screen, but I don't have any unread messages in my list.
So far, I've tried the following:
1. Typed "u" to search for unread messages and it tells me that I have no unread messages.
2. I went into my email and selected "mark prior unopened" and still nothing.
3. I've tried to restart the phone the phone. When I do, I end up with even more unread messages that I have to select -- over and over again! I can always get it back down to 3, but no fewer.
4. The date and time on my phone appears to be correct.
5. I have no "saved" messages on my phone.
6. I have no new or saved voicemail on my phone.
Normally I charge my battery on my bold 9780 every other day. To my supprise the battery indicator stayed on 100% for 3-4 days until it suddenly closed down while using it, saying battery was low...(not exact message). I charged it to 50% but after a day it is reading 50% still.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering. As it turns out that the 9700 and 9000 share the same type of battery, so how is it that the bold has a far superior battery life over the 9000? Some have reported that the 9700 can hold charge upto 2 days even after heavy usage. So i was wondering are the batteries really identical in every way as claimed? and if they arent is it possible to swap the battery of my 9000 and expect a longer battery life? coz the one im having right now only seem to hold charge for about 15hours with fair usage on a 5.0 OS Zain Kuwait.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI recently got my Blackberry Bold 9700 and I used to use crunchsms on my Blackberry Curve 8520 so I didn't mind the message indicator whenever I got an email because crunchsms had it's own message indicator. I now realize that whenever I receive a text and email it results to the same message indicator. I have done: Messages > Options > Inbox Settings and have unclicked my email account so that the message inbox remain separate. I don't understand how I have the latest OS version yet have to deal with this. Is there someone who can help? Or is there a theme that I can download that separates the sms/mms and email complete so that I may get two entire different message notifications?
