Jun 17, 2010I am going on holiday next week and this will be the first time I'm taking the phone with me (except in Switzerland where it remained in flight mode throughout). I want to ensure I don't get hit with any charges on my return.
I will be using the WiFi functionality as the hotel is WiFi enabled and I will be receiving/sending texts and phone calls. However, I do not want, under any circumstances, my phone to connect to the internet using the network as the fees are astronomical. How can I ensure that the phone only ever connects via WiFi?

Apr 20, 2010I will be going on vacation and to avoid the ridiculous roaming data charges, was wondering how I can connect to BIS over wifi? I have a BB data plan with my carrier (Rogers). I just want to be able to receive e-mails and use BBM when I'm connected via wifi while I'm away. I'm guessing that if I set "Data Services" to On and "While Roaming" to Off, under Mobile Network Options, this would NOT work, correct? Or am I mistaken?

Jun 9, 2011Over the past few months my home wifi settings has been turning off , started off now and then now it will not turn on. It shows that it connected to my home network but no 'tick' just a white 'dash' showing that the handset is not active. I have taken out the battery and rebooted, deleted and re-installed my home network, in fact I have tried everything I could think of without any luck. I Googled 'Blackberry wifi problems' and to my surprise I was given lists of posts of the same problem as mine.From what I have read this is a KNOWN software problem which has been happening on nearly all BB handset for quite a few years yet nothing seems to have been done.

It is similar to what happened during the outage that happened.I have reinstalled the software (OS 5) O2 won't allow upgrade to OS6. I have deleted the WiFi connection and re installed, but still it won't go white and it is affecting my mobile data usage as my phone is using the network signal for internet rather than WiFi.

Oct 19, 2012My Blackberry Pearl 9100 sometimes encounters a problem when try to connect internet over WiFi. The Data services was switched on and APN settings were unchecked. It shows the complete signal strength of my WiFi signal but unable to browse. It hits an error message 'Unable to fconnect to the server'.
The google talk app works when BIS was connected. But, over WiFI it doesnt work.

Sep 16, 2012I have started using my wifes old Pearl 9105 for my work provided SIM. I can make and receive calls and texts ok. However when I try to connect to WIFI I get " Failed to associate with the network". The router is seen and the profile saved. The router does not have MAC filtering enabled. The router sees the device and shows the correct MAC. The WiFi connection shows as on but has a white dash next to it and not a green tick. I have tried powering down the router and removing the device battery with no success. The device also shows the 3G or EDGE symbol, but does not connect to the APP store or the internet.

So far everything has carried through alright but I'm [inevitably] having problems with the phone activating. When I manually search, it gives me 2 options; AT&T and T-Mobile. When I request either one of them it tells me that I don't have access. What am I doing wrong?
