A couple of weeks ago, the screen started fading out to white and wouldn't go back to normal operating screenThe only way to get it back was to connect it to my Mac and restart via BlackBerry desktop. All fine, but it has continued to do this on a daily basis. If I am on a call, the tell tale sign is a loud crackle, then bang - have lost all connection and the white screen of death is back. Taking out the battery and restarting doesn't fix it.I backed up my files last month and when I'd restart it, everything was restored. Until this week, that is. I can't restore my memos from the backup file and three games have also disappeared (not that they matter ... much!).
When I go into the back file, the memos is in grey (where you should be able to tick the box), with a note at the bottom that says: "Dimmed entries are read-only data bases and cannot be restored."I know there must be a way to get then back, but I'm at my wit's end. I've got some important notes on them and want them back before I replace my Curve.
I have to hand them in my Blackberry Bold 9000. Getting a Blackberry Curve 8520 tomorrow. Can I restore my contacts etc. on the Curve 8520? I've backed them up to my laptop with Blackberry Desktop Manager.

I backed it up before it was stolen and I was just wondering, before I make a new purchase, will I have to buy the curve 8520 in order to restore the data I backed up? I'm on my THIRD 8520 now, all previous handsets bombed out and froze with that godawful 'Restore Software: Error 552 ' No amount of visits or calls to Blackberry Support helped and the phone OS couldn't be reset. What a pain in the *bleep* not to mention data and software loss. The ONLY common factor was Opera Mini 5 , which sometimes froze, unable to exit. So a soft or hard reset (battery out) Then wait and wait and wait Then blank screen then Restore Software: Error 552. Still not sure if it's an Opera Mini issue or general out of memory issue. And there's no easy goddam way to kill a running process without a battery reset.

When I hit the download button it takes me to the sign in for BlackBerry ID, then to terms and conditions and then to my ID settings! The only way I can get off this screen is to press Discard, which takes me back to where I started! I just keep going round in circles.

When the Application Loader launches, it only provides me with the option of maintaining my OS and downgrading my OS to the older 4.6.1 version. I have previously used the exact same steps on another Curve 8520 and I had successfully upgraded the OS. The third party applications were transferred to the new device but I had to manually restore the Address Book.However, I'm unable to restore the Memo Pad and Password Keeper as both the files are greyed out on the Desktop side of the Desktop Manager Window.I need help in getting both the Applications as I have lots of data stored in them.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am aware that there have been issues raised previously and particularly one thread regarding the time delay between deleting emails on the server which remain on the BB.
My problem is an inability to delete emails on the BB. This problem only affects the Gmail email linked to my BB, not the other email accounts. Prior to linking the Gmail account to the BB, I spent time archiving messages from the Gmail account. This was 10 days ago.
So today I ring my carrier (Orange) for advice. They tell me that there are over 3500 messages in the inbox on the Gmail server and that is what is causing my problem. Whilst speaking to them, I was able to look at the server and confirm that there are only a couple of hundred opened messages on the server as far as I am concerned exactly as I expected.
I do have messages in other folders but the sum total is not per Orange's advice. Its worth noting that there are many many more messages on the respective servers for the other accounts for which no problem exists.
