BB Curve 8900 :: BB Maps Icon Missing / Not Possible To Reinstall Application
Jan 25, 2010I have a small problem that a lot of users seem to have with BB 8900. A Blackberry Maps application has been installed on my device (version 4.6.1), but the icon to start it up is missing. I have seen some posts regarding that problem but none of the proposed solutions seem to work, including reinstallation of the application (upon trying I get a message that Blackberry Maps is not compatible with the software I have installed). I have recently updated OS to 4.6.1.231 (platform 4.2.0.108) so my soft is definitely up-to date. I am clueless as to what to do now.

BB Curve :: Cannot Find BBM Icon
Jun 16, 2011i cant find my bbm icon anywhere, not even in the switch applications bar! i was updating it from blackberry app world, then the updating progress failed. the bbm icon was there until later that day i deleted something and the phone needed a reboot so i rebooted it and since then i can't find the icon anywhere. i tried to download it again from appworld, it always says that it already exists but i still can't find it. and i'm also trying to update it nd it always says error updating!

I just now realized that its BB AppWorld that has disappeared and I cannot seem to find it for the life of me. I assume I drunkenly hit some random keys and it vanished but I can't possibly imagine how I have checked all my hidden folders and every thing. My contacts are still there, I can find them by searching but don't have an icon on my home page (or anywhere else) to click on to add new contacts or find old ones. Can anyone advise what I've done? I've tried synching with my laptop but that hasn't brought the icon back, and I've powered off. I backed up to the cloud earlier but am a bit bothered about trying a full restore! Besides, the contacts icon was missing when I last backed up, so it probably wouldn't come back anyway!

Last night, I went to charge my BB after the battery had drained to find on the screen a drained battery icon with a red cross/line through it. I had reloaded the set up on my phone and it still does not work and it seems that the white loading bar under the icon still loads after it has appeared and stops at around 75%.Will a new battery fix this?As I have said, I have reloaded and wiped everything on my phone and I have also tried the 'take out the battery while it's charged, put it back in method', nothing happened.

I can't open text message center even though my text icon shows I have texts. Can't open message center although icon shows messages. Oct 4, 2011My partner has a BB Curve 8520 and tried to install an app from bbworld yesterday, the phone restarted and now gets 3/4 of the way across the bar and fails to load anymore, Ive done some research and realised i need to reinstall the os, The problem being we only have one usb lead and i use that to tether internet through my bb torch, Iv downloaded the installation files but whenever i start it 'checks for updates', which i believe means online, it will not go past this step, Is there a way to manually reinstall the os without having to connect to the internet? If i try connecting to the desktop software it recognises my device and pin but says it cant connect so needs to update, and leaves me with the same problem.
