I have no data plan but I use to could go to star bucks and use wifi. But recently for some reason it says I am connected to the hot spot but I can't use the the internet at all and it's really bugging

I've had my 'curve 8900', 4 over a yr now & never had any major probs until now. I updated my phone about 3 mths ago, but as I had bn using my (dare I say) iTouch, I hadn't used my web browser. anyhow, whilst out one day, I had 2 use my BB as my itouch doesn't have 3G & my phone froze after clicking on the browser button & a strange msge came up which said "Uncaught exception: java.lang.illegalArgumentException" . I then had 2 do a battery pull 4 my phone 2 work again. I tried again at home, but same problem occurred. I backed up & updated my phone less than a wk ago, hoping this would fix it, but the same problem keeps re-occurring. I've searched the forums 4 about 90 mins, but haven't come across this same msge with any other user.

However cannot browse internet at all.When Data Services is on browser works fine. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have scoured the forums here and practically everywhere possible on the net with out any luck at finding an answer for almost a month. I am currently on Prepaid cards through Fido. I bought a BB Curve about a month ago because I was told it had built in WiFi.I have no problems connecting it to my home wireless network. Weather I have it secured or unsecured. I have no problems connecting to any open or secured wireless network. Where I do have a problem is when I go to places like Starbucks where it has a log-in Screen.Then I am unable to connect at all.I scan for networks, it finds the network. I select the network. It then says it's connected. Then I go to try and go onto the internet and it just gives me a blank white screen. As of right now I am finding that my BlackBerry is just a useless paperweight since mainly I got it to use at Starbucks since that is where I am a lot of the time.
I have tried going to bell.ca and seeing if I could access it that way (as I read somewhere to try this), still no luck. My question is, why would I be told that it has built in wifi if it only works on certain networks? Is it able to be used on networks that have a login screen or is it not able to? And is there something I am doing wrong? It is showing the bell hotspot name when it says connected. And I made sure I have it set as wifi mode. I have had other devices (Palm Pilot) that have had no problems connecting. What is the point of built in wifi if it won't work on ALL wifi networks?Ultimately what I want to know, is how to get my BlackBerry to bring up the login pages of these "hot spots"? Weather at Starbucks, Libraries, other coffee shops etc.?
I have a blackberry curve 8520 and I have a problem the phone is suppose to be able to run all internet except bbm through wifi even when I have no credit or active bbm. I can't log into msn or even access any other website from it all I can get on is fb's home page.

So I have an iphone 4 with the 5.0.1 update. I board at a school for most of my time and there's wifi on campus that my phone used to connect to, but up until Monday is hasn't been connecting for some reason. My phone sees the connection, but it won't connect. The gray spinning wheel just keeps going and going. I've tried turning off my phone and turning it back on. and I've tried resetting the network, but that hasn't worked. I can't turn off the router and turn it back on and whatnot cuz the wifi belongs to the school. I'm not sure if it's just the school's wifi to or all wifi connections cuz I can't leave campus for a few weeks so I'm noy sure if my phone will be able to connect to my home wifi. There's actually more that one wifi signal that the school gives off but my phone doesn't connect to any of them anymore. My laptop connects to the wifi and my friends phones can. I don't get why mine won't though. It's been working all this time and suddenly won't connect anymore.

we have 3 mini pros, mine, wife and workmate.we are all having the same issue which is our phone will no longer connect to wifi we have tried the following-
-updated firmware 2.1
-made sure signal strength is excellant
-reset settings
-reset modem and made sure password and security details are correct
-used different modems and wifis to test the phone
-downloaded and used wifi apps ie wifi fixer etc
- read the hundreds of suggestions in different forums regarding this issue with this phone... noone has had any real success. maybe one or two people like i said, we have 3 of these phones with 3 different wifi modems. and have tried connecting to other wifi... it just refuses to connect its a shame becuase i can speak for the others in saying , if i knew the wifi didnt work on this phone we would never of bought it.

The iTunes playlists are no longer displayed in the BlackBerry Media Player and my BlackBerry can not longer connect to WiFi Desktop Manager. It is only through the USB connection. But after the USB connection is missing, as I said, the playlists. If I delete the WiFi application on my BlackBerry, I see now the playlists. Since May, this is no longer an option and it's extremely annoying and frustrating! I don't want to MMS pictures and have my contacts get a message saying my sprint account has sent them a picture - that's RIDICULOUS! Have I altered the setting somehow? When I go to "view pictures", click on a photo, click the blackberry button, select "send/share" - I get the following options: send as email, send to facebook, send as mms, send to blackberry messenger contact. SMS used to be an option!
