BB Curve 8520/8530 :: Trackpad Stopped Working - Update OS To Fix?
Feb 11, 2010After doing a few battery pulls its still not working.I've done some searching now for about an hour and comming up empty handed. I have a friend with an 8520 Curve from I-Wireless. After a couple days of using it his trackpad stopped. Now to me from reading it seem that most problems lie with the 8520 series and also seems that its a software issue as a batt pull will fix it for abit. Will updating to os 5.0 beta fix this problem or does the problem lie elsewhere?

Sep 20, 2012So about a week ago, my trackpad stopped working, to get it to scroll I had to hold a piece of clothing such as my shirt between the trackpad and my thumb. It would go between working and not working without the article of clothing for a few days but now it only works if I have something between my thumb and the trackpad. Not sure what to do, I got it 9 months ago and its in really good condition.

Jan 27, 2012The trackpad on my BB Curve 9300 has stopped working. At first there were some glitches wherein the trackpad was unresponsive. After a few tries or after restarting the device, it began to work properly again. Just recently the trackpad stop to work altogether. I don't know if this is hardware related or if there's just a problem with software since I saw error messages regarding "java" or something. Also, I don't know if this is related but the problems started just after I added lock protection to my phone.

Feb 9, 2012I went to go on my phone and the scrollpad wouldn't work, so I took it to the shop and they said update the OS to the latest, so I did, and now it only works if I REALLY lightly touch it and only then it works a tiny bit for abit a second, but it's clicking fine!

May 30, 2012I have a Curve 8520, I've had it almost a year ago. Yesterday an APP ERROR 523 appeared on my screen and I found out that an application crashed. So I tried to upgrade my OS from 4 to 5. It was successful but I wasn't able to scroll down to press the OK button. After a couple of hours trying to scroll down, I pressed the OK button. But my trackpad and keyboard is not functioning well because when I pressed the home button my BB is not showing the home screen, instead it shows me my phonebook.

Feb 18, 2010I've had the Curve 8530 for a few weeks now. Up until yesterday the trackpad was working correctly. The problem I am now having is that when I press the trackpad to open a link online nothing happens. I have to open the menu and click on Open Link. The trackpad works correctly in all other places except opening a link online. Is there a trackpad setting that I may have turned off by mistake?

Jul 3, 2011My trackpad can still move right, left, up and down. However, the press function is no longer working as well as the entire keypad. The phone is working normally, I can receive text, calls, bbms, etc. However, I cannot just view and answer. I tried to update my OS, put a paper over the battery to tighten, I have removed the battery pack and replace a million times, tried to re-charge, removed sim and memory card and re-place but none of these tricks seem to work. I am hesitant to open it up because it will void the warranty.

Jul 27, 2011My Curve 8520 's e button just stopped working, doesnt work no matter how hard you press. Sometimes will get assign speed dial to e or if i'm texting a capital E but it is completely random. Also at the same time when the screen times out it is unresponsive, the screen wont come up until you press any button many many times, found out that holding any button down will also make the screen reappear after a few seconds, also if you turn it off, the power button wont turn it back on, you have to take the battery out to get it on again, otherwise it works fine.

Mar 9, 2011I bought a 2nd hand BB Curve 8520 about 6 months ago, and had it unlocked to use on Orange. My problems started on Sunday - I was unable to connect to the internet using WiFi or my unlimited access. Since Monday I have discovered that I cannot receive phone calls - it goes straight to voicemail, and any texts / emails / FB notifications I receive are massively delayed.Orange don't seem to know what the problem is. I have performed a factory reset, and the problem has not resolved. I am currently waiting to hear back from Orange, as my call was "escalated" to another department. So far I haven't heard anything, but they did say 24 hours... it's been about 23!

Jun 22, 2012I've had my BB Curve 8520 for about a year and until recently it's worked perfectly. For about the last month or two, it has stopped synchronising my Outlook Contacts and Calendar. It goes through the process when I plug the handset in but the data does not transfer. It's probably not synchronising other data too but I only use it for calendar/contacts. I've moved from Virgin to Sky as my broadband provider during this period. There was a recent BB upgrade but the problem was there before this took place? I seem to only have an option to sychronise giving priority to either the mobile or the PC or to create duplications if differences are found, none of this is satisfactory as I enter data on both and need true two way synchronisation. I've also noticed that birthdays from Facebook are now appearing on my mobile (not something I want) and appointments are appearing in various different colours.

Jul 8, 2012So a few weeks ago my blackberry stopped working. I was on it one day on bbm and it died so when I got home I charged it up then went to turn it on but after 2 seconds of the rebooting screen a battery with a red cross appeared giving me the indication my battery was low I let the rebooting process continue but at about three quarters of the way through it froze, so I pulled the battery out after leaving it too freeze for over an hour and carried on doing that. It didn't work a few weeks later I tried it again it worked but then today it ran out of charge and when I tried to turn it on it does the same thing even know I have 100% charge as my other blackberry (which can only use facebook for some reason) said I had 100% in the status option screen.
