my Curve is on the serve at work. so I take it all my in and out personal emails are also on that server? Is it a privacy issue as I assume if that is true my personal messages can be accessed then?
View 1 RepliesI have my own mailserver (hMailServer). I can connect over the internet from my laptop and I can connect from Desire, but after connection the phone displays "No Emails". The settings is IMAP with no extra security.I know that all settings are correct because I have traced the IMAP conversation with WireShark on my server. I'm not an IMAP expert, but it looks ok and I can see email headers being transferred. But still the phone doesn't show any emails.

After the security wipe I was able to reinstall all of my apps but my blackberry messenger is no longer working. I am not receiving invitations and my invitations are not being received. I am registered on the blackberry network under my service provider in the United States but I am currently visiting in a different country and using my apps using WiFi. I have a password set which I believe would be fairly secure if someone tried to gain access.
My question is what other steps should I take regarding the security of my handset and what steps do members of this forum take.
I'm also curious as to what happens if I enable my encryption setting under options?.
One concern I have with the password feature would be that I believe the handset can be reset if the password is typed in wrong the number of times set. If someone fooled around with my phone then they could wipe it intentionally, is that correct?
Every time I try to upgrade existing applications (such as BBM / Facebook) I get the following error message: "Your BlackBerry ID will be locked for 0 minutes for security reasons. You will not be able to login or request your password until that time has expired."I am not sure how did my BB ID get blocked and furthermore how to get in unblocked. Need urgent help on this issue.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy company had a planned upgrade of our system. I had to wipe my phone and reactivate as a result. Before I did I downloaded Blackberry desktop and backed up my phone. When I went to restore there were two options a complete restore that would put everything back to how it was and a custom restore. I think I can't choose the complete restore since that would remove the company's intended changes changes. If I choose custom restore the password file is grayed out. A note at the bottom tells me the grayed out items are read only data types and cannot be restored. Does anyone know how to restore my data.

I can wipe my Blackberry using JL Commander and get it to go away, but once plug it back into my Blackberry Internet Desktop Software, it locks it again. I have removed the blackberry desktop 3 times now and reinstalled it and still the same problem.I even went as far as doing a regedit and removed all blackberry information in that. I am stumped on this one. All I can figure is there is something in my desktop computer that is putting the security back on. Again, this is a personal blackberry being used on a personal computer.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust been given a Curve 8520 by my son, lucky me. When he gave it to me it had all of his settings for a different network and wifi settings. So i thought it would be easier to do a full wipe and start a fresh.However since doing this i have no email setup and no option to update software or wifi .I have tried downloading new software but it gets to the" Check for updates screen" and goes no further. I have to close it down and restart the computer. I have left this to run for over 3hours thinking it may work but to no avail. I have tried it with desktop software running and without, with and without a sim card.

About a month ago I enabled the password protection option on my phone and now it will freeze about 3-4 times a week when I try to unlock the phone.I haven't pinpointed it exactly, but it seems to happen more frequently when I lock the keyboard by pressing and holding the * key along with the elapsed time for a Security Timeout happening. My screen displays a dialogue box that says "Keypad is locked. Press the Mute button to unlock." I press the Mute button, and a black dialogue box appears behind the 'Keypad is locked." one, and everything freezes. No buttons do anything.The only thing I can do is take the battery out, replace it, and wait 5 minutes for the phone to reboot.The only thing I could think of was to disable the password protection, but now there is a little lock next to the selected 'enable' password option. I am a private user and do not use a company BES. Could it be that synching with Gmail has the same effect as a security policy through a BES? And what could be causing my phone to freeze up so frequently?

I did that but I still can't get my emails. Tried tweeting blackberry but very unhelpful. After asking if my email address was a google or hotmail one (its not, its an Australian telco called optusnet) they said I needed to contact my provider. Issue is that my email is through one telco - optusnet while my mobile account is with another - Vodafone. Which provider am I supposed to contact?

I rang them up, had the config texts come through to my phone and it was all going great for 3 days. I then put my old SIM card back in the phone to see if i had any texts on my old number. After that i put the Orange SIM back in and now all my email accounts have vanished. When i go to the email wizard it lists my email accounts and says i need to re-enter my passwords to access them. I do and it just says "Sorry unable to continue your session. Please log in again".
