BB Curve 8900 :: Message Icon But No Message?
Feb 4, 2010This afternoon, i looked at my blackberry and i saw my LED flashing, and on the screen the little message symbol is at the top. This obvioulsy means i have a message. The strange thing is, i dont have a message, or at least i cant get to it.Any help? LED keeps flashing, and the little envelope icon is there, but i dont have any SMS messges or Email.

Aug 26, 2011i'vehad the "new email" icon at the top of my screen for a good few weeks now, deleted all my emails from both accounts, checked on my laptop not even any "junk" mail, deleted all my bbms, whatsapps and text messages. Its not a messag from app world or anything, its the icon for a new email. its doing my head in!

May 18, 2012At some point today my text message icon has disappeared. Thinking that I somehow moved it to another folder I started opening everything with no luck. I've reset the phone and pulled up my BB Protect. It's gone! and now because of my messing around my Help file won't open.

May 5, 2012about a week ago, an additional nes message icon appeared at the top of the screen. It looks like a new message icon, gold and slanted slightly to the right. the number 1 next to it. Right now it is to the left of my regular message icon although I have seen it on the right too. I cleared both of my message lists and the icon is still there. I don't have any messages in facebook or twitter.I don't know how to find out what this icon represents or how to get to its list.

Jan 1, 2010I've had two Blackberry, but I'm new to the community. I traded my Pearl for the Curve 8330 a couple of days ago. The new message icon is constantly showing up. It started with three, then four, and now six. I have read several forums and have tried pulling my battery several times. I have even deleted my e-mail account and set it up again. I have gone into all my folders to see if there is a message hiding somewhere. I can't find anything. Has anyone else had this problem? Aside from doing a factory restore and/or calling Verizon does anyone have any suggestions on how I can reset the counter? By the way, my carrier is Verizon!

Aug 7, 2010I'll try to explain best I can. Lately (last week or 2) I get the new message icon displayed, but when I open my messages folder the red asterick goes away but the envolpe icon still is there and the count goes up. Currently it says 4 but I do not have any unread emails, nor any unread facebook messages. The only way to 'reset' this is a battrr pull. But then it starts generating again. I just updated 4.6.1.319 hoping this would help but sstill the same problems. If any other info is needed please let me know.

Jan 28, 2010I used to be able to see a combined list of my emails, SMS texts, missed phone calls, voicemails and just about anything else when I opened the Message folder icon on my Blackberry Curve 8330 desktop, but now when I open it, all I get is a blank white screen. When I hit the menu button, the menu pops up without a problem and if I click the track ball, it will open a message, but I can't see the list itself.Also, when I go to view folder I can access any of the individual folders and they come up just fine. The only problem is the combined message list you're supposed to get when you open up the icon on the desktop (or application menu).

Aug 10, 2010I have a Curve 8520, and suddenly tonight, I have a read message icon on the home screen that won't go away. I have no emails or messages at all on my phone anymore, and I cleared the messages from the advanced tab thingy on the desktop manager. I've done a battery pull, turned it off and waited a few minutes before turning it back on, and nothing has worked. I even tried sending a text message to my phone from my husband's, and it showed up as 2 messages on the icon, but when I deleted that new text msg, it went back down to 1 read message and is still there.

Jan 7, 2010I currently upgraded to the new BlackBerry Curve 8530 after having the Curve 8330 for 2 years. For the past week I have had nothing but problems. I pulled the battery out 4 times over the past week, and now I am having some problems with the SMS and MMS Text icon. When my phone receives an SMS or MMS message I click on the icon and read the message, and either respond or do not respond. Then when I back out and go back to my home screen, the SMS and MMS icon still indicates that I have an unread message. There is NO SMS or MMS indicator icon at the top of my screen to alert me of how many messages there are, because there are no new/old unread messages. I tried pulling the battery out twice, and it corrects the problem for a little bit (maybe an hour) and then reverts right back to it's annoying ways.
Please help me out. I attached a photo to this discussion so hopefully it will make it easy for whomever is responding to fully understand what is going on.

Apr 3, 2011My message icon on the main screen "menu" vanished. I can no longer receive messages, and all the messages that I had stored vanished, since the message icon disappeared. I seem however, able to send messages by going to the email, but instead of composing email, i compose sms. However, I never get any replies. The message icon disappeared approximately two weeks ago. I went to the 02 store and the technical assistant took my phone for about 30 minutes, and then gave it back to me, saying he had no idea what had happened. He initially thought it had been "hiden" but it appears to be no where!

Mar 23, 2011I have two Gmail accounts on my phone.
The problem I have is that the emails I recieve keep going to my "message" icon and not the actual gmail icon that appears once you create the account.
The one email (my private Gmail) works fine. The emails that come through go straight to the Gmail icon. The other one (my informal Gmail) doesnt.
I have tried numerous things to try and make it work:
1) Deleted all the service books for this, hard reboot and then registering again.
2) Under the messages, under options, and under the inbox settings I have un-ticked that email account, the messages still come throught, but when I un-tick it, the message is no where to be found. I have to tick this box again (the email address) so I can see the email in my "messages" icon again.
3) I have tried to delete and readd the Gmail accout, but still the same issue.
Im not sure what to do. I dont think its the phone itself, as the Gmail account (private) on works perferctly.
