View 1 RepliesI have a blackberry Curve 9300 running v5.0.0.846. The Wi-fi is always greyed out for open Wifi connections at airports, hotels, etc. I did manage to get it to turn white once but that was for a WEP-protected connection where I connected manually. Are there some settings that are incorrect? (e.g. the APN username and password is blank in TCP/IP menu).

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I configure my BlackBerry to use the Wi-Fi (when possible) but don't use the mobile network because I don't have a contract for internet. So if I just walked out on the street, I would have no wi-fi because I wouldn't be connected to my house, it would usually automatically connect to mobile network (2G/3G) but I don't want it to do that, I don't want it to use data when I'm not using Wi-Fi at home. However I wan't it to connect to Wi-Fi when I'm at home. Is there some kind of settings?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a blackberry curve 3g yesterday and set everything to work as normal. All the email, phone, internet and browsers, and bb I'm all work perfectly. And bb app world works WITH wi fi. But when I try to access bb app world without wifi the following message comes up " you are currently on a service plan that requires wifi connection to use this application. If you want to use this application outside of wifi please contact your service provider to upgrade your data plan" . A similar message about data plan appears when trying to access the facebook app at any pointI phoned vodafone and they said everything was fine at their end and I have all the correct data plan and bb services and keep directing me here.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy BB is not connecting to WiFi Following directions, I ran the loader.exe file. Once the reinstallation of the OS, I was able to access WiFi. However, as I turned off the battery to insert the SIM and connected agian I no more accessed WiFi. If I run the loader.exe again comes the error message: BB Desktop SW does not have BB Desktop SW for the device. Contact your provider, etc
View 2 Replies View RelatedI dont get particularly good network coverage in my room at home (which I've come to terms with now), but I do get wifi. BBM and FB have always worked due to the wifi, but recently, neither has worked unless i've managed to get network coverage. I've tried battery pulls, and i've tried deleting and re-installing software.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi bought the 9380 and it was form Rogers but now its unlocked since I bought it overtime I turn off the radio and leave only the wi-fi the bbm doesn't work. i don't know why is that and with other blackberrys that a had it worked perfectly.
View 4 Replies View Relatedso my next post. i reported some problems previously about my phone about BB app world not working unless its on wi fi as well as facebook and it specifies as something to do with service provider and data plans as problems, which they say everything is alright. as its too late for phone vodafone i thought i would try here first.
everything on my phone is working fine (BB messenger, emails, browsers, texts etc etc) but like i said app world and fb arent. App worlds works perfects whilst using wifi, but as soon as theres no wifi it stops working.
i found out that when i turn the wi fi off on the manage connections part and check the service status, under Blackberry Internet Service it says no connection. and im unsure how to change this. When the wi fi is on it says 'connection: wi fi'. and i was told when i turn this off it should turn to my service provider (vodafone) but it doesnt. so im guessing the main problem is something to do with this.any way to get it working
BIS not connecting via wifi BUT!!!! at school with their wifi it works why and what can I do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my phone got wiped, lost everything. When i started to set everything up again (wifi etc) i noticed BIS does not connect through wifi anymore. It did before my phone got wiped. Is this temporary or do I need to do some fiddling around?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use the Appworld on my Curve 8530, but I want it to only use the WiFi (I just have the Blackberry Social plan with Koodo with no data plan).
Right now, I've connected my phone to my router (a Netgear WNR1000 v2) using WPA2-PSK [AES] encryption and the PSK. Both the Router and the Phone say that they are connected, the router assigned it an IP addy (192.168.X.X), the phone says its connected but on the manage connections screen, there is no green check next to WiFi (only a square with a white line through it).
When I try turning off the mobile connection and only use WiFi I get the following:
"You do not have sufficient wireless coverage or your connection to the wireless network is turned off" I don't want to run the risk of getting overage charges with my provider
Seriously, why can't they just have the Appworld run in the desktop software, and when you sync the phone, it updates the software you download.
Even after setting up my wifi connection and changing all the settings accordingly, still m not able to access internet on wifi,

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a Blackberry 9300 on contract with 750mb of data a month, I've switched data services and roaming off as I don't want to use this at home whilst I have wi-fi to use.But when I connected to wi-fi and tried to use the internet it wouldn't let me. . it said something like turn data services on. And then I noticed that my data usage started to go up. So basically my questions are 1) Why wouldn't it let me use just my wi-fi to browse internet and 2) Does using wi-fi take my monthly data usage up.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a very hard time connecting to the internet via wifi on my BB curve.Wifi is turned on and it says I am connected when I do a wifi network search. However, the wifi logo at the top right of the homwscreen is grey. When I go to manage connections it it has a check mark next to wifi and then my network name but the button on the right is yellow with a "-" (line) through it rather than a check mark?Does this mean it is connected or isn't? I am so confused.Sometimes I am able to browse but most of the time I simply get this message:Unable to connect to the internet, pleae try agian later.

View 1 Replies View Relatedsince I switched to BlackBerry version 6, I can't the page which enables me to turn switch between wi-fi and wap, before I made the switch there was an option called something like "hotspot" or something and also the option of switching to my actual operators wap access, I've spent many frustrating hours searching for this page but still no luck.
I've paid my operator for the internet but it feels like I'm wasting my money if I can only use it via wi-fi at the moment.
