BB Bold :: Newbie And Device Memory Exceeding Limit?
Oct 21, 2011
just had my BB9780 3 days already.. suddenly .. I experienced something glitch..which is:"Your device memory is exceeding the given limit. You can move data to SD card to get optimal performance"i have 16GB of SD card.. i set my media stuff on 16GB
My Bold 9780 keep poping up this message (my device memory is exceeding given limit, move data to SD card for optimal performance) but I've tried severally to do that to no avail
My bold 9780 always apper pop up your device memory is Exceeding the given limit. Here's detail application mem 193.1 Mb Memory card 8Gb (7,2 Mb) free OS vers 6.0.0.448<br>Please any one help me with these problem regards
Recently got an 9700 Bold and i would like to transfer my contacts from an old 8310 via bluetooth.I've tried connecting the 2 devices and although they can 'find' each other and pair up, when i click connect it instantly pops up "connection to xxxxx failed" - both are discoverable, passcode is correct, trusted is set to yes. would appreciate any help you guys can give!
how do i find a list of everything taking up space on my blackberry. im talking about the on-board device memory and not the flash memory, i need more memory to update my OS, and also a list that i'll be able to delete stuff that i dont want
Need help.. What is application memory and device memory? How much application memory and device memory does the 9780 and 9790 has? Can't decide which one is better.
mine has around 120mb free wheb purchased new. is this about right. i thought it had twice that? i assume the system takes a bit of it? but then i saw a Internet video and the guys bb is loaded with apps and still got 130mb free. search in Internet "blackberry 9700(onyx) over review". why is that? makes me wonder. is it cuz his is a tester model?
Do I really need to reserve before it becomes an issue. I have a fair amount of free and paid apps, probably between 15-20. Right now, I am at 86 MB remaining. How low have some of you gotten before you notice any kind of problems? I have an 8GB SD card for pics, music, etc., so plenty of room there.
I'm a little surprised for as advanced as this device is that you only get 256MB of space (much less than that, really) for applications. Kinda reminds me of the problem the Nintendo Wii had, where they had an SD card slot, but you couldn't save and programs on it until they did a firmware update later on.
So when I go to memory under the options menu, it says under Device memory that "Device memory cannot be read. Try to repair or format." Consequently I cannot see my pictures, etc because of this. Is the way to format it just to wipe my phone?
all of a sudden i noticed after reviewing a pic i had just taken that my other pics were gone. I went to my options/ memory/ says "memory card not currently inserted in device". I can read the card find in an sd card reader attached to my computer but phone suddenly doesn't recognize. any ideas?
tried battery pull, nothing I have saved my files on the computer and reformatted then put back nothing.I have blackberry bold 9700
I have a corporate Bold 9700 that I want to swap out its existing 2GB card with a new 8GB card. I have files and pictures and whatnot on my 2GB card that I would like to carry over to the 8GB. Turning encryption off is not an option as the security policy is managed by the corporate office. And, of course, copying the files to my desktop, then putting them onto the 8GB card doesn't work either. Is there a backup option for the media card or something in DTM? I looked all over for it and came up with nothing. I have not wiped out my 2GB card and it is perfectly fine in the phone now; all files intact. I just want to upgrade to an 8GB card. How do I do that?
9550 arrives today. I found 2 pics that I need that were somehow saved to the device memory. Before I take my 9630 out of service . . . How can I move those two pics back to the card?
If I click on show all pics I see them but I can't get them to the card no matter what I try. Move says "up" and that's it. I see memory card but can't reach it.
Running Bold 9000 w/ OS 5.0.0.681 on AT&T. First reformat both device memory and media card. Then issue a soft reset. Instead of standard reset, it performs a "Fast Reset". Upon viewing Device Memory, it states:
"Device Memory cannot be read."
4 GB media card is fine, without errors. In order to restore, it requires a repair. Upon issuing repair, it returns as successful (able to read & write to the 859.2 MB of total space).Does not occur with 4.6.0.304, appears to be a bug in 5.0.0.681.
After installing 5.0.0.822 update, I did a reboot (alt+right shift+del).Usually, the Bold take about 3mins to reboot, however, it only took about 20 seconds. I saw the Blackberry status bar flash for only a second.I felt the phone did not really reboot. I was also noticing some funny errors when accessing pics or ringtones.I checked the memory and saw the Device Memory as "device memory cannot be read."
2 "fixes" I found: 1. reformat device memory 2. reboot again, either alt+shift+del or battery pull
Have you noticed this problem as well? I found another thread of this happening on .681 without much help either.. Device Memory cannot be read
I have fully wiped the Bold and reinstalled 3 times. I can reproduce the error everytime.I guess I can avoid the problem by doing a battery pull every time instead of alt+shift+del...but that's a hassle.Suggestions? Maybe this is just an inherit flaw for OS 5.0 since .681 and .822 are both showing the same symptoms.
Device Memory Total Space: 859.2 MB Free Space: 858.8 MB

Any ideas on how to free up application memory? I have the usual google mobile suite, facebook, yelp, pandora, bolt applications. Can I move over some media card memory to application memory?
Being aged 39 I wasn't too happy to have a hearing test this week to be told that I am 'borderline' need for the hearing aids! I've been given very strict instructions to 'protect' my hearing (ear defenders whenever using a powertool, turning down the volume on any personal music player, no standing infront of the speakers for 2 hour at a rave!)
Wihtout wanting to get into a debate about EU regulation or what safe volumes are, how I can cap the volume on my iPhone (iPhone 4, latest OS) to a relatively agreed safe limit? I remember that my older iPod Classic had a handy line that you could set the limit to (related, I think, to the FR/EU regulation).
I have found the slider in Settings>Music on the iPhone, how much I need to dial this down for it to be 'safe'. I intend using my noise cancelling headhone more (so I can hear more of the lower volume music)

I've got a few questions about my AT&T Curve 8310...I was looking through "Options > Applications" and saw that the app that took the most memory was "Content Store." Anyone know what this is, if I can delete it, & what would happen if I did? Is there any way to shrink this down some?
My address book takes up quite a bit of memory; so does my calendar -- both of which were synced from Outlook. Is there any way to have the addresses/calendar data stored onto my microSD instead of the device memory?
Lastly, I noticed that when I call people using my Curve, it shows up on their caller ID as "private name, private number." Where can I change this setting? Is it in my provider's settings (which I can access online) or on the BlackBerry's settings somewhere? Also, is it possible to at least NOT have it show private when calling those on my address book, such as friends & relatives?
Is there a limit to the number of email addresses I can have on my Blackberry Bold 9650? I have 10 and would like to add another but it will not allow me. Is 10 the maximum or am I doing something wrong.I am going to Set Up / Email Account / Set up or manage an existing email account / Set Up another email account / Creat New Address / User Name / Password and it gives me an error on the user name.I have tried numerous times and checked on the web that my user name and password are O.K. to no avail.
I'm getting a message memory "Message Memory is full! Please delete some SMS"! I cannot believe this.. I have over 13k sms messages on my 9800 and I have never gotten this warning. I just restored a 9800 IPD to my 9810.. And my sms msg aren't on my SIM CARD but on blackberry memory!
I updated my bb to 7.0.0.540 but I'm getting the same msg.
Before I remember finding a graph that showed the memory usage and what was on the media card, but either I forget where it is or its not on the new .442 OS.Can someone please help me out, I did a search and came up dry.
I have a question on the "Memory" usage in BB Bold 9000 that i own. When I install APPS from BB App World, it shows me memory bar and now it has reached to 10 MB FREE (IN RED - which obviously means it is too low.) Questions : 1) Does this mean that I wont be able to install more apps as those 10 MB will exhaust pretty soon? 2) Is there a way to install apps elsewhere if the above is true? I have a 8 GB MicroSD card installed. Would it work normally?
would this not make sense for rim to add in a software update, for us to be able to use a memory card as virtual memory? or use a small portion of memory?
The phone internal memory is only 7.2 MB memory. Even Nokia site shows it has 10MB memory.out of this 7.2 MB the phone packed with 4.7 MB of default apps in "Apps and games", and Gallery contains some defaults pictures and default Nokia Ringtones and message tones of 2.0 MB data. Also messaging App showing 417 KB of memory used. Now my phone has only 400-600 KB memory left. And when i run the apps like. Nokia Maps, OVI Store. etc... then apps doesn't start and show message like: "Not enough device memory availabe."I have factory restored my phone and checked the memory still full. I can't delete the games which are totally waste for me. Also there is no option to move any default apps to memory card.Even i can't download any single software from third party sites which is large in size more than 300KB..This phone is working like hell and i am very furstrared with it's poorely implemeted software.have no any single Text/MMS stored in my phone memory. but it is still showing 417KB data used in messaging. Also when i try to apply any theme then it always shows "Please free some memory."
