So when I go to memory under the options menu, it says under Device memory that "Device memory cannot be read. Try to repair or format." Consequently I cannot see my pictures, etc because of this. Is the way to format it just to wipe my phone?

View 7 Replies View RelatedRunning Bold 9000 w/ OS 5.0.0.681 on AT&T. First reformat both device memory and media card. Then issue a soft reset. Instead of standard reset, it performs a "Fast Reset". Upon viewing Device Memory, it states:
"Device Memory cannot be read."
4 GB media card is fine, without errors. In order to restore, it requires a repair. Upon issuing repair, it returns as successful (able to read & write to the 859.2 MB of total space).Does not occur with 4.6.0.304, appears to be a bug in 5.0.0.681.
After installing 5.0.0.822 update, I did a reboot (alt+right shift+del).Usually, the Bold take about 3mins to reboot, however, it only took about 20 seconds. I saw the Blackberry status bar flash for only a second.I felt the phone did not really reboot. I was also noticing some funny errors when accessing pics or ringtones.I checked the memory and saw the Device Memory as "device memory cannot be read."
2 "fixes" I found:
1. reformat device memory
2. reboot again, either alt+shift+del or battery pull
Have you noticed this problem as well? I found another thread of this happening on .681 without much help either..

I have fully wiped the Bold and reinstalled 3 times. I can reproduce the error everytime.I guess I can avoid the problem by doing a battery pull every time instead of alt+shift+del...but that's a hassle.Suggestions? Maybe this is just an inherit flaw for OS 5.0 since .681 and .822 are both showing the same symptoms.

Any ideas on how to free up application memory? I have the usual google mobile suite, facebook, yelp, pandora, bolt applications. Can I move over some media card memory to application memory?
Last week my blackberry torch, whose battery life has been rather poor, cut out due to a dead battery. When I charged it and switched it on, my wallpaper had change and I thought weird but whatever. Anyway, I found the next day, when I tried to take a picture of my kids, that all my photos are gone and I can no longer take any pics coz it says that the memory is full, even though the media says 'o photos'. I am gutted, but have found the following message on my storage menu ' device memory cannot be read. try to repair or format'. I've tried to repair it but it fails, and I am holding on to the hope that my photos are still in there, so want to avoid formatting it until the last possible moment. I am desperate for the pictures, there are just too many of my kids there to have to lose.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 16gb Micro SD card that Ive been using in a Storm 2 9550 for a lil while. Well ive sold the storm 2 and since then the card has been sitting there in a box. When I insert the 16gb Micro SD card into the Bold, It says a memory card has been inserted would you like to format it? So It then asks me if I would like to format either the device memory (Internal Memory) or the Media Card (External Memory) So I obviously pick Media Card, Then It says "Formatting Card, Please Wait...." My phone freezes up and does nothing, Ive left my phone at this screen for 30 minutes, Everything quits working. I have to pull the battery in order to make the phone functional again. Ive already tried wiping the Bold (Security Wipe) and I have also tried formatting the device memory. When I go into work today Im going to try and format the card with a co-workers Storm 9530 Running 5.0 Hopefully this should solve any problems. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Oh and Ive called up AT&T they said they will send me a replacement device so im waiting on that to come.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a question on the "Memory" usage in BB Bold 9000 that i own.When I install APPS from BB App World, it shows me memory bar and now it has reached to 10 MB FREE (IN RED - which obviously means it is too low.)
Questions :
1) Does this mean that I wont be able to install more apps as those 10 MB will exhaust pretty soon?
2) Is there a way to install apps elsewhere if the above is true? I have a 8 GB MicroSD card installed. Would it work normally?
Desktop mgr 5.0.1.37.When I connect (via USB) the connection appears to be recognised - clock appears on BB and PC beeps. After a few minutes PC & BB icons appear on BB screen but no interconnecting arrows. When I try to sync there is no device and PIN number showing on Device Mgr so it doesn't sync. Then the Desktop Mgr greys out and appears to freeze - I then have to disconnect the BB to unfreeze.
Device manager shows two RIM virtual serial ports v2 Com 3 & Com 4. If I try to update the drivers it says most up to date are loaded although the drivers are dated 24 Nov 2008 and are version 2.2.0.3 and appear to be called RimSerial_AMD64.sys (I'm using Intel i7 processor).
Devices & Printers screen shows a RIM Composite Device icon.
Windows in Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

I have a Bold 9000 with ATT. I have constant low app memory problems. It is almost always under 10MB, and alot of times it is around 1-2MB. Here is a list of apps listed on the "Switch Application" menu: BB App World, Gmail Plugin, Home Screen, Visual VM, BB Messenger, Phone, Messages, Browser. I don't think any of these are the problem. A list of my downloaded Apps are: Atlanta Braves, CBS Sports, Weatherbug, ESPN, AP News, Google Maps, Bible App, Where, CBS Radio, Scoremobile, Stitcher Radio, Facebook, and Poynt. I assume I could get rid of those. Do you think there is too much downloaded? Is there a way to get rid of some of the defaults pre loaded apps such as: MobiTV, Mobile Banking, My Cast Weather, Wikimobile? Could someone point me in the right direction here.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my OS to an official version 5 around 3 months ago and ever since I did that, my application memory seems to be really crap. Initially I had around 26-30mbs of application memory right after a Quickpull but now I only have around 2-4mb of app memory. It's really frustrating as using my usual apps such as Viigo, Facebook, Msn, Google Maps etc have become a pain and almost impossible to load. And I haven't installed any new applications in case you were wondering.

was hoping I could live with this issue until 9700 hits the UK, but now seeing as its probably going to be 2011 before this happens, I need some help with my current 9000.It's on OS 5.0.0.592 and has 12452390 bytes (is that about 12MB?) file free. The main problem is, the phone is barely saving a week's worth of phone calls/emails/texts and I really need them all to be saved for at least a month. I'm a guitar teacher and I check what the craic is with my sutdents by going to their text number and reading back on the message history. But now, a week later and everyone's text logs are blank. I remember for the longest time, I could go back to the first message I ever sent, and I must have had about 10 apps installed. Now I only have GMaps, Viigo, Facebook, Google Sync and IM+, what I would consider essential to my daily workflow. I've tried MaxMem to clear memory, and that's after using that swiss army knife thing to brick the device first to make sure I really cleared the memory. All the tweaks I've read on this site were done as well.This is starting to get pretty frustrating, don't want to see that low memory screen every day, begging me to delete apps!
