BB Bold :: 9780 - Home Screen Tray Closed Permanently
Aug 29, 2011
Normally the tray stays on my home screen permanently with one row of icons, and when I open the tray the rest appear. I liked this setting and found it easy to manage. However, while playing about with whether to show 1 icon etc, when the tray is closed it completely collapses now? I've changed it back to default tray setting, but it still hasn't fixed? How do I fix this, without putting it back to factory settings? (as I have a number of txt messages that I need to keep saved).
Got a new Bold today. On the BB I replaced, when I opened the homescreen, six icons appeared along the bottom. If I wanted to see all my icons I clicked the bear claw and they all showed up (so, one click). On my Bold, six icons appear along the bottom when I open it, as well, but in order to see all my icons, I now have to click the bear claw, then click "open tray," so twice the number of clicks - a small but really annoying difference. Can you tell me how I can avoid that first step and automatically open the "tray" when I click the bear claw when I am on on the homepage?
I'm disappointed with the home screen tray options, specifically the option of being able to switch between "Home," "Favorites," "Media," etc. I much prefer the way the Curve is set up, with 5 or 6 icons on the home screen and the rest of the icons in only ONE tray. Is there any way to change those options or get rid of the extra trays altogether?
On the home screen of my blackberry torch the search box at the top is there all the time and the menu tray is kind of faded, even when you open it. i can still select the notification tab thing but it's under the search box and when it drops down, again, it's faded. How do i get this back to normal?
Just got my nexus 5 yesterday and was playing with it. I decided to remove the favorites tray, thinking i wouldn't need it. It is the icon labeled Google on the left lower corner that contained the stock Google apps like Gmail, Google drive, etc.
So now i want to restore the tray to my home screen, but i cant find it in my app drawer.
I know this has probably been asked before but for the life of me I have never seen a satisfactory answer. The company has recently presented us with Nokia E71 phones. How do you display your own number on your phone. Not how do you find it but display it on the screen so that it is always there.I have seen ideas like create a new profile and call it your number...or place it in contacts either as first number or own number. It would be nice to have it permanently displayed on the home screen or a one touch key that popped it onto the screen when required.God knows the number of time I've been asked my mobile (and there is a couple of them) and can't remember it.
So you need to fish the phone out unlock and trawl around looking for it.Ideal solution would be pop phone out press one key and number is present.Even if there is a piece of software which will allow this or creation of a screensaver with the number on it would be preferable to fishing around looking for the number.I mean with all the technology available to us in mobile phones today you think there would be a simple option to display own number.
My phone icon disapeared from the icon tray on home screen into the application folder. I can not figure out how to put it back on the bottom icon tray on home screen. I also just updated my phone today. Not sure if that has something to do with it.
Am about to trade in my M7 for the M8 and have heard that some find the vanishing row of buttons, annoying/frustrating to use as you have to "call it up" every time you need it, which is essentially an extra step.
I recently went to press the unlock button on my blackberry and noticed that the screen had gone all white, it has no hourglass or error number on it, just a white screen which fades to and from black as i unlock/lock my phone.
I have a blackberry bold 9780, on o2.Last night i took it out of pouch to go and make a phone call and the screen went white, i locked the phone and then unlocked it a few times and it went and worked perfectly fine after that. After making my phone call i then put my phone back in the pouch and left it for an hour i went to use it again and it did the same white screen but it didnt go back to normal.. After looking on the internet i see it could be a software problem, so i plugged my phone into my computer and tried to update it... After a slight difficulty i did this and it did work for about 2 minutes...It then went white again after wiping the hand held and re loading the OS its still not working.
months ago my new BB 9780 showed a white screen up when i ended a phone call. my device working properly right now without any problem even it goes to lock mode and when i press the lock button it's goes on again. the main problem is that sceen is just white white and white. i have tried to disassemble the device for 2 times and screen works great for minustes each time i assembled it back, but the problem begins in a while and screen goes white again.
enclosed that there is no one who knows about fixing BB in my country! and as you see from my bad english i'm not living in a blackberry-supported country
So this problem started about 2 weeks ago. If I press in the bottom right corner of my screen and the end button, it will turn the whole thing white. But once I press the lock/unlock key, it locks and then I unlock it and its fine again. Its not a year old yet but I bought if off ebay so I'm not sure if its covered under warranty(though the listing said it said it was).
my bold 9780 keeps showing a white screen. i kept trying to reboot it but whenever the blackberry reboot screen came up it changed to a blank white screen and wouldnt move from there. i took it into a o2 shop & they said to update the software so i did that but still the white screen shows. although it doesnt show now when i am trying to reboot my phone it still shows it while im using my phone and i have to do a battery pull before it will leave the white screen. i can still recieve messages while the white screen is there but i cant see the screen to read them.
I received a call yesterday in the evening and the screen turned white. I tried removing the battery + pressed alt, right caps and del but still did not work. Also tried reloading the OS although it has the latest version of 6.0.0.264 using application loader yesterday. It did not work either. But today morning I went to carphone warehouse, they tried to tweak it but in vain. They suggested it was a hardware problem and had to be sent to bb support (which takes 28 days!!) It was still showing a blank screen. When i reached home, surprisingl y the cell phone was fine (dun ask how). I restored the data which i had saved on the laptop. After a few min tried calling up a friend, and the cell went blank again. I just pressed alt, right caps and del n it seemed to be fine again. Tried calling up and problem still persists.
Device info:Blackberry Bold 9780 on Orange UK - Software below.I just tried updating my BB to the latest OS, and after the update, I waited until it said "safe to remove", and then unplugged it. I waited 15 mins and it still didnt do anything, so I pulled the battery out but it didnt work. The screen is working, as I can still see the dead pixel that was there beforehand, however it just black, with the one dead pixel.I tried downgrading it after the the firmware below (I'm not sure what it was originally on) but that didnt work either.
Last week, I was just playing games on my blackberry, then that white screen appeared.I've changed the screen. But still there is a white screen. Just blank. My phone just appeared normally on Blackberry Desktop as usual. Then, I did the reset to factory, and wiped it. But now, my bb doesn't appear on Blackberry Desktop.
I have a BlackBerry Bold 9780. Whenever I try swtiching it on it just stays on white screen and at times few vertical lines but usually it's on white screen. All I can do is lock and unlock the device. I tried wiping off data and install new OS and updating the OS but no use. When I reinstall a new OS I hear some music. When ever I press the voice command button on left side I hear it telling 'say a command'.What is the problem and how to get my BlackBerry up and running ?
I have this huge black spot to the top right of my screen. I m sure I did not drop it or damage it anyway. I got a similar problem couple a months ago when a small spot appeared at the bottom left corner of the screen. But it went away on its own in 10-15 days.
I plugged by phone in to charge it and when I woke up the screen was white and had stripes on it. The phone can accept calls, but nothing else works. This phone is 14 months old and of course out of warranty now. Bell is telling me that it's going to cast $150.00 to have the phone repaired.
I have never dropped the phone, got it wet, or anything, this just occurred all by itself. A friend of mine also has a Bold and the same thing happened to her today. Could this be some sort of programming issues with RIM, or just extremely lousy phones they make?
A couple of days ago my phone started showing a blank white screen at non-specific intervals. The problem has become worse and I can't seem to view my screen properly. The phone itself is working fine (I am still receiving calls, texts and emails) but the screen won't show anything.I have repeatedly tried to reboot it by removing the battery but that hasn't fixed the issue.
Today, a white screen started appearing on my Blackberry. I've almost never dropped it (maybe twice in my life, with the cover on it), but it have been through rough cold temperature (-15 while snowboarding or skating), if this information can help. The screen first black out (it's kinda grey-ish with lots of vertical lines, mainly black, some whites and a few colored) then turns white with ONE pink vertical line. Really weird. I try to make it disappear by clicking on the lock buttons multiple times and on the shortcuts key, sometimes on the track pad, and the screen becomes perfectly normal sometimes. Except when I press the shortcuts key, there's a big rectangle (not full screen but almost) where the text is blurred... Sometimes it disappears, or black out again. I tried to restore a previous back up file: didn't work, tried to reboot it by removing the battery: failed.
I have a BB Bold 9780 which I have purchased in Oct 2011. The display screen has been turning white for some strange reasons all by itself and some times it is ok. I have not purchased it from the service providers
I keypad lock my bold 9780 phone and the screen goes dark, as it should, and the keys are locked. Then after about 30 seconds the phone unlocks itself and the screen turns on.
My Bold 9780 has a white screen with two thin red lines down it, I have tried doing the update as per blackberry solutions on pc, however it says 'no updates found' and the problem remains. I must admit that I tapped the phone in frustration and the screen was back to normal. For a while obviously there is a connection problem somewhere.
