BB Bold 9700 :: Using Messenger 4.7 - Want To Upgrade
Jan 7, 2010
So im using my new 9700 i just upgrade the OS to 5.0.405 but i have not upgraded the Blavkberry Mesnger. I am currently using ver. 4.7 but i do want to see what the new version 5.0 is like. when i click on the messenger i con i get the 'Updat Available:Get Link/Copy Link/cancel options. What im wondering is if i upgrade this way will it install a fresh install or will it simply add on to the existing version, i guess the concern here is if it will delete my contacts as well or will it preserve all my contacts. Ihave already created a back up but want to know other peoples experiences in upgrading.
I've had my fantastic new 9700 for about a week now and I love it! But This morning i find that everytime i go into BB Messenger I get a box that says 'Upgrade available' I click on the 'get link' box and go to the page it takes me to on explorer. There is a big grey button on the screen that say 'Download' but I can't click on it....... I hold the arow over it and click and nothing happens, I've tried zooming in and i've tried pressing enter.
I'm new to BlackBerry and I'm trying to add contacts into BB Messenger but its still on pending authorization and my friends were telling me that they didn't receive any of my request. i found my PIN in option under status but it looks like its not working.
I have a 9700 eith the latest version of the software installed.
I read an article on the net that said to free-up device memory I should install items to my memory card.
In Application World, I highlighted Yahoo Messenger 2.5.32, clicked archive & it came up archiving complete. I tried to use the app but couldn't so I restored it, restarted, typed in my username/password & my contacts no longer received any of my messages.
I read on the net to remove the batter & try again, which worked until I logged out of Yahoo & since then Yahoo hasn't worked since. I have removed/re-installed it a number of times, removed the battery & nothing
Before I clicked archive & if logged on to the computer then logged on Yahoo with my 9700 it said on the computer I have logged in from a different location. If I was logged in on my phone then logged in via the computer I used to get an error 100 (unable to connect to the server) meaning I was logged in from a different location. Now, I can be on the computer, login on the phone which doesn't log me out of the computer & I can send messages from the phone yet no contact receives them. Go to the computer & send them with computer & phone logged it & automatically the contacts get my messages.
Also, if I remove the application, auto-restart when the phone comes back up I see a 'Y' on the Yahoo e-mail folder, but not always.
When I try to send a message, it just stays in the message box, and then sometimes just sends randomly, this just started to happen like 20mns ago....I tried a battery pull, phone restart, and a restore file from yesterday, but nothing......
I just got a BlackBerry Bold 9700 from AT&T and I updated the BB Messenger to version 5.0.0.57. While I'm trying to add my friends PIN who lives in the same area as I am it's working. However, I have some friends in Thailand when I added their PIN they received my request and they did accepted it but the contact still on pending. I already try it many times it still on pending.
Moreover, during group chat my friends in Thailand can see my messages but I can't see their messages. Is there any possible explaination to this problem?
I recently bought a blackberry bold 9700 from my friend and it is unlocked to any network sim but is originally from Vodafone, I have also just went onto a new contract deal with virgin which includes unlimited internet access but my problem is that the blackberry messenger will not work, I've contacted my service provider and they said they cant do anything because the phone is not originally from them. I have also went to various shops and they also do not know what is wrong. My internet browser works fine but Blackberry messenger will not allow me to add people or see any requests from people when they add me and i dont know what to do next, is there anyway i can manually make this work?
Just updated my blackberry. Everything was working fine before, just did the update for the hell of it. Now, I can't see any of my contacts pictures on bbm. All I see is the blue guy. I can see their status and name however. Let me know what to do! Thanks! I can comunicate with them fine as well.
The problem I am facing is that I added my dad at BBM (he is in malaysia i'm in the UK), we can see each other's contact at bbm, but we can't communicate. I can receive his voice notes and everything. I can send him a message too, BUT with a tick next to my messages but without R or D, he claims that he didnt receive any of them.
I tried battery pull, deleting and adding contact (took a while as it takes time for the friend request to be accepted/ add to friend list) and ... googling and i ran out of ideas.
Is it a problem with my blackberry 9700 white or my dad's? or his carrier?
This morning i got a message that my BB messenger should be updated. After the update and installation it gave a few errors (forget to make screenshots) but since then my contact list is gone.
Lateron when i logged in again it asked me to look for my ' old '' contacts. I waited a few minutes and nothing happened so i decided to reboot my BB. After that my contact list was still empty and now i dont have my friends pins saved somewhere.Anybody got an idea of how to get the old list back?
I had a BB Pearl with Tmobile that allowed for several different instant messenging providers but on my new Bold 9700, it only appears as if BB messenger is allowed. If this is not the case, can someone tell me how to get the others?
I'm using bold 9700 Orange. I've been clicking on the bbm icon for the past three days now it doesn't open. I even tried the reboot solution for like 10 times it didn't work. I removed the battery for 1 hour the problem still persist. It shows on my home screen when I have pings but I can't read. Other applications are working well.
Was able to log in google talk, yahoo messenger, etc. I tried to log into msn messenger and double check my username and password and it is correct. Check to see if I have the service book for msn messenger and I do. The error for messenger is: "connection error 65: problem receiving data from the server." Any1 have this problem also on t-mo and know how to fix it?
please help i have a bold 9700 and have the latest blackberry messenger on the phone. one day i turned it on and the icon at the top of the screen showed i had a new message. after looking everywhere there is no message to be found. after numerous battery pulls and resets the icon is still there. i even brought to ATT today and there reps couldn't help me.
My phone is indicating I have 2 instant messages but I cant for the life of me find where they are on my phone. Im not sure if its a fault on my phone (Blod 9700)
How can I find out what these 2 items are and get rid of them somehow. do I need to reset or something?
I have my new blackberry 9700 and i updated to 5.0.0.714 Os at the moment i stars using, i restore my contacts using the wireless restore, it seen to be ok, i have all my contacts that i have on the old 9000 but when i go to sleep and i wake up some contacts are erase, when i talk to a contact the screen tell me to invite againt or erase them, but i never erase the contact from my list and the other persont neither erase me (its my best friend) always i need to re invite, it works al the day but at 2:30 AM to 3:00 AM the contact say to be erase. i erase the bbm reinstall, deactive the wireless backup, reinstall the bbm and just add this 1 contact, erase the phone, reinstall the OS. i dont know what to do now pls help me, i thing that the problem is on the blackberry servers that can not acept the contact and erase me over the air.
My BBM history, depending on length of course, is deleting after 4-6 days of history. I have it set to save to my device, but have also tried media card and it does the same. I also have my SMS and MMS chat histories to save forever, and I went into the messages icon on the home screen where I read most of my BBMs and did the same; but I must be doing something wrong because my history is still disappearing! Can anybody help?
BB OS version: 5.0.0.442.I`m pretty sure I have the latest BBM.I`ve only installed AppWorld and Facebook.
My BBM icon disappeared when I upgraded the version to 5.0.1.38. When I checked Options>Applications> Add on> Blackberry Messenger 5.0.1.38 appears. My mobile is BB 9700 v5.0.0.351
Question 1.) Is that the reason why the icon disappeared (compatibility issue)? I have read issues on forums similiar to mine but it is not successful. I downloaded the BBM again and again; reboot the phone; but still it is not showing. I read something about BB device software version 6.0 (only one showi on the website). I am downloading it now,
(Question 2.) Will that help? (Question 3.) if YES, How will i do it? Procedures pls.. (Question 4.) Are (BBM version, BB9700 version, BB Device Software) compatible?
i just bought my new bold 9700 and i faced 3 main problems.
1- whenever i tried to download any application through blackberry.com i face this messag "Sorry , your session has been expired. Please close all your browser windows and then return to the welcome page to start again." it was the only one page running at that time . i tried to restart the bb many times but i keep facing the same message.
2- Live messenger is not working . this message appears "Service not enabled for this handheld"
3- facebook application also not working ( i gess it is the same problem as live messenger)
I've never used blackberry messenger. overnight i had a messenger contact request from some unknown person so declined the request. now whenever i press menu when viewing a txt, i get the 'forward to messenger contact' showing as the 3rd option. How do i get rid of either this showing or blackberry messenger completely?
I received my upgrade on Monday - a shiney new Blackberry Bold 9700. After setting it all up and getting the phone how i liked it, I started to notice problems........
My Blackberry messenger either didn't work or sent & received messages hours after they were actually sent. The internet was painfully slow if it loaded at all.
If I tried to make calls it would rarely work either taking forever to connect or when it did try to connect, I would hear a triple beep repeatedly as though there was a problem. When people tried to call me, they would go straight to my voicemail even though I was not on a call and had full signal.
My network provider immediately agreed to replace the handset and get me a new one out the next day and today I received the new handset. I've come home, tried to make a few calls on the handset before setting it up and all I am getting is an SOS symbol where the signal symbol should be and I am not able to make calls or do anything else.
I tried to restore the backed up file from my last handset and although it restored my numbers & text messages as well as my background image & alarms, it has not restored my programmes that I had installed and it has not restored my email and facebook settings. Am I doing something wrong or do I have another faulty handset?
ive got the blue " new blackberry messenger" symol on the top of my phone but i have no pending messages to read - i have deleted all messages, chats etc - the only thing i have done is deleted a contact and ignored them - i tried unignoring all and its still there! have taken the battery out etc but im about to throw it across the room now!
1: when i send some images or files, i always have to wait that the receiver accept the file... how can we change this option... and go back with the old style? I understood that this is a "problem" of the new version of BB messenger.
If i send an image to a contact who still have an old model (es BB 8300) with the old software, on my phone is displayed "file sent" straight, without any wait. Instead if i send an image to someone who has a new software, i have to choose the size of the image, and wait for his acceptance. And i also saw that if a contact doesn't accept the file immediately, after some time (really i cannot say how many time), there is a kind of time out of the sending (displayed on his phone)...how is it possible (on my phone was always displayed "waiting for acceptance")? How can i cancel this option?
2: with the old software if someone didn't read a message, a clock appeared on the face of the contact, and then i usually set the advice, to know when he read the message thanks to the sound. With the new software instead, i saw you can just set the advice only if the contact is Unavailable.
When trying to Upgrade to Os 6 on my Bold 9700. @ the last part it gives me a messages "No actions are required." and does not upgrade my phone. My original carrier was At&t now I'm living in Colombia so I unlocked my phone and I currently have it with Movistar.. HELP!!! Please.. I tried re doing this upgrade 4 times already and same result.
I just got a BB Bold 9700 with OS5 and I was wondering if I upgraded to OS6. Can I do it on this phone?Does it run well?I just want to be sure to do it and that everything will work as well as it is doing now on OS5!
every couple of days, my year-and-a-half old phone fails to connect to the internet. Twitter, Facebook, and the Browser do not work, saying that I am unconnected to wifi, when I do have a connection. To solve this problem, I have been turning off the phone, and then pulling out the battery. This seems to work, it just seems tedious to keep doing so.Then I thought maybe I should upgrade the operating system. I can't seem to find this on the BB desktop manager.
