View 7 RepliesWhen I'm typing with the stock Samsung Keyboard occasionally it deletes the first letter of the word I'm typing automatically. This is really annoying because then it predicts a completely different word to the one I initially meant to type. Also, the issue is only with Samsung Keyboard, swiftkey works fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to assign a specific ringtone to 25 out of 100 of my contacts without doing it manually one by one? Is there a quick way to assign them to a group and just assign that group the ringtone?
Is there a way to do it on Outlook so I can do it easier than on my little BB? I assigned about 100 pictures to contacts on Outlook and since the 2 sync, all the pictures showed up with the right contacts. This saved me soooooo much time...I was wondering if there was a way to do similar with ringtones
I have a BB Bold 9700, with OS6 on it. Today it has started typing "w" by itself when I was doing a search on the internet browser. I've rebooted it removing the battery and it happened the same when trying to write the unlock password, I've rebooted it again and it seems to be working fine now, however I'm worried because I'm afraid it could be a virus or something. Is that possible? I've read that BB has virus, is it true? It's my work device and you know.. Could be something important on it sometimes.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSomehow my memory usage is so high the dang "processing" clock shows up every few seconds, literally. This happens after a few hours of browsing, and I should point that the whole time what I did was merely browsing, I didn't do anything else.
These are the applications running while I'm browsing:
1. Browser (well, duh)
2. Messages
3. Phone
4. Home screen
5. BBM
6. SMS Filter
According to MemoryUp Personal, the memory usage goes as high as 50%, that's around 100 MB memory consumed, for reading humor articles. I can only imagine what editing documents will do, maybe a new high score at 200 MB? No, seriously, does browsing actually use that much memory? Maybe I should also say that the memory consumption is gradual, from 39%, and then 40, then 41, 42, 43 all the way up to 52%, the current high score, when I decided 52% for a native browser is a true memory spending spree and pulled the battery. Before any humor reading, though, the usage is only around 10%, so 30% is already high enough, let alone 50.Just what is happening to my blackberry? EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED. Turns out I was the dumb newb ranting about unnecessary things. As the Browser is used, it accumulates stuff in RAM, which can only be cleared by shutting it down, which is impossible due to it's nature except with battery pull. Thus the only way to go is to use another browser or use the native one sparingly, or pull the battery every few hours.
SO, for some reason when I text someone on my Bold 9700 once in a while it will just erase the entire SMS while I am typing and I will have to start all over again. I dont know what combination of keys I am pressing but its really annoying. Is this problem happening to anyone else ?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHaving only recently discovered the shortcut key for the period-full stop (double clicking the space bar) I want to know if there is a similar shortcut key for the comma. I currently use the Alt key and the comma key, but if there was a shortcut I'd love to know.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am currently using the BB Bold 9700. Unfortunately I have got a problem with the device concerning writing SMS (and sometimes also e-mails):When I get started writing a SMS everythings fine. But abruptly the cursor disappears and when I continue writing the text, it just does not appear on the screen. But "in the background" the text goes on, because after writing "blindly" I can send the whole message, even the first part I can see and even the second part which is written but not displayed.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am working with a user who recently switched from a 9550 to a 9700 (verizon to at&t) for coverage reasons.Whenever he unlocks his keyboard (using the lock button on the top left of the device), he must enter his password to access his phone. The security timeout settings on his phone are set to 1 hour, but even if he locks the keyboard for 5 seconds, he still has to enter his password when unlocking it.The only time that the keyboard will lock and unlock without requiring a password is when it is entered/removed from the holster. We are using BES.I cannot replicate this issue with the 9650 or 9550. Unfortunately I don't have a 9700 at my disposal to play with.Is this a normal feature for the 9700?I've checked his encryption settings (disabled). We cannot disable the password function (mandated by BES policy). The issue is not that he has to enter his password, it's that he would prefer that a password not be needed unless the security timeout has expired.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen the last word in a sentence has a bubble around it (meaning I can make that word an emoji), my phone will put it there twice. Only if the word can be an emoji and it has a period after. For example, I just typed a sentence and the last word was "soon." I typed out "soon." And my phone sort of auto corrected it to "soon soon." NO matter how many times I tried deleting the second word, every time I put a period, if would add the word again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have vibrate set for when using the keyboard so that it vibrates when typing, and I have it on maximum strength...but every so often, the vibrate seems to change and it seems to be less strong even though I haven't changed the vibration settings.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen you type and if u have vibration on, that it'll be unable to keep up and that the vibration is too week or misses every couple of letters when I type? And it lags as well if u type too fast. It's so annoying, any way to fix it? It happened with the latest update as well, worked fine before.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI found it out! You have to dismantle the phone, though. Walkthrough:
1) Remove the bottom plate with the branding (use guitar pick, small flat screwdriver, etc)
2) Remove and save warranty sticker in case the phone actually breaks.
3) Remove the two small screws on either side of the phone.
4) Using a guitar pick, small screwdriver, or case-opener tool, start on the sides of the phones slightly below the convenience keys and move down towards the bottom. On the bottom, there are three small clips that WILL NOT BREAK NO MATTER WHAT. Disconnect them. Then remove the keypad top first.
5) Slowly slide the pick/driver/tool from the bottom edges of the phone up until the volume rocker. One tab on each side should pop, but they are difficult. Take your time.
6) Grip the sides of the bezel and slide upwards. The top cover should come off along with the back chrome bezel (the one above the camera).
7) The phone will now appear very basic with only the trackpad and screen recognizable. On the white lower portion, several small, rectangular LEDs can be seen.
8) Use a preferred color of sharpie to color a large clear piece of packing or scotch tape, and cut it into 2mmx2mm squares.
9) Place one color square over each LED. Reassembly
10) Insert the keypad into the bezel bottom first, making sure that the screw tabs for the keypad are underneath the screw tabs in the bezel.
11) Holding this configuration, slide the bezel on top first.
12) Make sure the hole for the trackpad and the trackpad itself line up, this will assure you that the keypad is in right. Also look at the "frets" in the keypad.
13) Push on the bottom of the bezel until you hear at most three clicks (the three tabs locking back into place)
14) Run your fingers along the side with pressure to make sure that you snap in the single tab on both sides of the phone.
15) Insert and screw in the two small screws you took out before.
16 OPTIONAL) Put back the warranty sticker on the ORIGINAL side that it was on before.
17) Snap the carrier plate back into place.
18) You're done PICS TO FOLLOW

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had my 9700. I just noticed today that the sliver pieces that separate each row of keys are fragile. I have one piece that is totally broken on both sides under the Talk and End button, another broken one under the Q and the lower left one below the Z key. On all of them but bottom one, they were originally hard to see. Not sure how I found them but upon closer inspection, more and more were broken. The bottom one actually sticks up some.
My only concern is that they are going to get worse and totally break off and then free for all on dust and dirt in actual keyboard. These silver strips look real cheap. Anyone else have broken ones in their keyboard? How have you solved the issue? Can they easliy replace just the keyboard at the tech center? I have seen OEM keyboards for sale too but not sure I want to try that myself. I am going to call At&t but not sure if they will do a warranty swap for this. My wife has the same phone and hers are all fine and intact. I think parts of this phone were made on a budget. Bad design with the keyboard.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAnybody figure out how to use 3G/Edge to mimic wifi for UMA use? Essentially, using 3G for free UMA minutes? Would be easier than using GV but same thing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else having problems with dropped calls when switching from UMA to 3G? Where I work I do not have a signal in the building, so I keep my WIFI on so I can both make and receive phone calls while inside.
The problem occurs when I'm on the phone and step outside. I lose my connection with the router, and instead of switching from UMA to 3G, my call is dropped, and it takes my phone about 10 seconds to find the 3G signal.I was hopping that upgrading the .442 would solve the problem, but it has not
Always maintained a very strong 3g signal, 5 bars always no matter where I was. The last 3 or 4 days my signal started dropping like crazy to EDGE - edge - to gps or whatever to no signal. Did everything to try and fix it. Called T-Mobile about the problem and they said no problem we are sending you a new 9700. I will have it Wednesday afternoon. I asked if it will be a new one or refurbished, she said a new one. You can't beat that with a stick. They have the best customer service out of all the carriers. Just wanted to tell my recent experience with my carrier.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI recently moved to a brand new AT&T BB9700, it is just awesome, the best change from an old Curve. The thing is I'm having serious problems with the Battery. I'm having annoying and unexpected "blackouts" or "shutdowns", wheterver you may want to call them, with an apparently perfect battery level. Please take notice that the first charge of my BB9700 device was for a full charge as indicated by some of you for 16 hours.
Ever since, I'm having a perfect 3G and EDGE connection, been very careful not leaving open applications, but there are times, when having let's say 30% to even 60% apparently battery level, that the BB9700 completely shuts down, unoperative, without any kind of alert! No low battery led, or indication on the screen whatsoever. This is freaking me out, because this is not supposed to work like that.
I've been reading that there are some of you that have a perfect full day or even more of a regular "BB usage" meaning email, conversations, web browsing, etc. I'm 90% sure the Battery is damaged or faulty, so I need you help to guide me if there is something I'm doing wrong (I think not , and besides need your orientation on how to ask RIM/BB for a replacement battery if effectively my battery is not working as it should, and as I paid to be working!
How to change from chinese keyboard to another keyboard while typing message?Very simple but i could not find it..
View 4 Replies View RelatedOn the iPad you can hide the keyboard anytime while typing. I cannot see a way to hide the keyboard when typing a mail message. I saw a post saying you close, save, go to your saved messaes and open the message again - too time consuming. There is a fix on the jailbroken site, but I dont want to jailbreak the phone. There must be a way to hide the keyboard in a mail messge. In a text message you can.

when I am using the qwerty keyboard (not touch screen) it is either not responding when I press a letter, or after several presses, when it does eventually respond, it displays a letter or character different from what I am pressing. Its basically to the point where my keyboard is useless. I have to hit the same key at least 5 times before it shows anything. It will sometimes skip letters that I'm typing and just display the next character. for example, I can be typing SLOWLY, hitting one at a time, spelling t-e-x-t and it will show up e-t, or something along those lines. Ill backspace to go back to the beginning to add in the missing letter and Ill hit T over and over and over till it eventually shows up, or some random character will show up.
