BB Bold 9650 :: Content Rights And Media Card Error?
Aug 19, 2010
I just got my 9650 yesterday. The saleswoman inserted my media card from my Tour (which had also been in my Curve 2). Everything seemed fine. This morning when I connected my Bold to the computer, I got a pop-up box on the BB which said, "Content rights do not match the device. Please insert the media card back to the right device."What's this all about? Nothing seems to be amiss with my media, although my pics do seem to be a bit slow to load when I try to view a whole folder.
Every time I reboot my 9650, I get an error message that there is a problem with my media card and do I want to fix it. I always say yes and it gets fixed.
I've got a blackberry curve 8530 (software version 5.0 Bundle 1675). My desktop software updated a few days ago (to 7.0.0.59).During synchronization of contacts, I get the error in the subject above.I have gone to the bb knowledge base here[URL] I have completely reset the device to factory defaults as described here - [URL].That much worked.I have restored from backup. Full backups. The restore completed successfully.Then I tried synchronization again. Failed again exactly as above. So I reset to factory defaults again and tried restoring from a different backup. Still failed in synchronization. I have also powered off and on. And removed the battery. Various combinations of all of the above. Before I throw this blackberry away and get something that works?My synch is attempting to synchronize only contact data. I have set it up only to try that. It's not trying to synchronize anything else. The contact data is being synchronized from my computer's contacts folder to the smartphone - one direction only. Computer contact list should always win. That's the configuration setting.I keep seeing this as well: "Content rights do not match the device. Please insert the media card back to the right device" (then an OK button below that). I have a media card all right, but I have not removed nor inserted it, nor changed it in any way.
When I take a pic with my 9650 camera, the pic does not immediately go to my memory card. I have to do a soft reset or a battery pull before the pix will show up on my card with all my other pics.
Is anyone else having this problem? I have already had TWO bolds and both of them did the same thing. I have looked at different settings i could change, but had no luck.
I seem to have this problem of not being able to stream videos on my Bold 9650. I always get this message on my screen, "error occurred attempting to play media"
A couple of weeks ago I created a Back-Up & updated the software on my BFs BB Bold 9780, as he was getting a message saying there was no space for new photos when using the Camera, after BF had taken a photo. The photo was not stored, but there seemed to still be quite a bit of space on the Media Card.Following the update BF now gets a message each time he tries to access the Media Gallery or use the Camera, saying the the Media Card has not been formatted & providing a prompt to do so. After you format the Media Card it is possible to then take a photo. Or a couple of photos. If you try to go back to the Camera again or to access the Media Gallery the message comes back saying that the Media Card has not been formatted & provides another prompt to do so. If you follow the prompt again, you have delete all the data on the card. If you do not follow the prompt the Camera or Media Gallery does not open, you just go back to the title screen.
Last night I tried to connect BFs BB 9780 to my Laptop & after what seemed ages it hadn't connected & then when I finally disconnected the USB Cable, I received an error message on my Laptop saying the Media Card had a fatal something & could not be read...
The BB 9780 has suffered no real trauma to speak of, aside from dropped once or twice. The media card looks okay, I have removed it & put it back, still no change.
Had my bold 9780 a few months now, it came with a storage card 4gb. Up until yesterday I was saving all photos etc to it then today it said I had a message on screen saying "media card has suffered fatal error" I took the card out tried it in my work phone and it worked fine.I tried the card from my work phone in my BB and nothing at all.Cuurently my phone is saying " A media card is not presently inserted in the device" when clearly it is!
I removed my media card, transferred some pics to my computer, then re-inserted my media card. Have done this dozens of times, but this time when I re-inserted the media card I got a message saying "Media card inserted contains errors please use a disk error-checking utility on a computer." I have no idea what this means.
My Blackberry Bold keeps sending me a message saying my media card has failed because it has a fatal error. I have lost my photos and music. What do I do to repair?
Alright, a friend of mine gave me a Blackberry Bold 9700 after unlocking it, which is awesome. What's not so awesome is that when I first turned it on, it informed me that the media card could not be accessed due to a fatal error. So I checked the card, made sure it was properly inserted, then went to the options menu and tried to format and repair the card, both of which failed. So I tried pulling the battery and that didn't work, either. Unfortunately, I don't have a card reader to actually check this out on my PC.I saw that there were other posts on here from people with similar issues, but I couldn't find a clear answer as to what works to resolve this.
after having experienced twice the problem about the Media Card error upon a reboot and after having read hundreds of posts only about how to fix the problem, I tryed to think about what are the causes of this upsetting behaviour.Giving that the SD Card should be error free proven, these are my considerations:
1) When the phone shutdowns unexpectedly (e.g. battery drain or battery pull upon a freeze) Media Card is not safely unmounted, so if there were media files open by applications, the reboot finds them corrupted. NOTE that it couldn't be the very first reboot after a battery drain; maybe the files get corrupted only afer having accessed once again;
2) If using a SD Card of a Class higher than 2 (as far as I remember, the speed of the reader on the phone), it could happen that some transaction between the phone and the card is not closed correctly because the card response is higher than the phone can manage.I'd like to end up with some ideas in order to reduce the probability of this issue, that is anyway an unquestionably bug from RIM.
just got a 16gb micro sdhc for my 9000, transfered all my stuff from my 8gb perfectly and can play all file off computer. but once i plugged it into my berry it said "A Media Card has been inserted that contains errors, would you like to repair it?" I select yes and it gives me the message "Media Card Repair Failed"
Ive recently bought a SanDisk 32gb MicroSDHC card class 4. When I inserted the card into my phone I get the above message? I've tried to format the card and get the following message 'media card format failed'. I've tried rebooting phone etc with no results is it worth exchanging the card or shall I just throw the phone in the bin and buy an IPhone?
I've had the phone for about a week and I absolutely love it except that at seemingly random moments my phone will block the viewing of any and all of my SMS messages saying "Content protection is enabled". It will show up at the beginning of newly received messages and even in the middle of real-time conversations between someone else and I and then I have to wait for the message to "go away" so I can read what the response was and continue the conversation. Is it something I'm doing? A default phone feature? Is anyone else experiencing this issue or at least know how to solve it?
When I upgraded my 9630 to my new bold 9650 I had a 16gb micro sd card in the 9630. I copied all of the files from my card to my computer, put the 16gb card in my 9650 and formatted the card. I then copied all of the files from my computer back to the sd card and put the card back in the 9650. All seems to be ok, I have my pictures etc. When I go to connect my BB 9650 to my computer I get a message on the BB that says: "Content rights do not match this device. Please insert the media card back to the right device." this only happens if I have the memory option set to "Auto enable mass storage mode storage set to NO" Any ideas? Thank You
I am using BB 8520 Curve with the default external memory (2 Gb). I have music files (*.mp3, *.wma) as well as picture files (captured through the device itself).What happens is, from time to time I am unable to access the media card content. If I go to music, I can see the entries if I go to any of the menu filters, All Songs/Artists/Albums/Genres .. etc. But when I click on the song itself, the music player opens with a message "This playlist contains no valid songs". Also, during this time, my device rings with the default tunes on a call, even if I have set custom profile ring tones.Similarly, if I go to Media->Pictures, I can see a thumbnail preview of the photos, however on trying to open a file it just presents me with a black screen. The contact picture or the desktop custom wallpaper, however is rendered as expected.If I reboot my device by taking off the battery, things get working again.I am experiencing this issue quite frequently, almost every day. I tried to find out a trend for the behaviour, however could not make any such consistent observations.Does anyone in the forum has faced similar issue? Any inputs would be highly appreciated. This is really being a disturbing trait with my otherwise so cool BB.
Hi, I'm new here and hope to validate my gloomy intuition.Got my new Bold 9700 yesterday, and several times a day since then, I get the annoying message "media card removed", followed immediately by another message telling me that a new media card has been installed, and my media files will be automatically updated. It seems to be a hardware issue, as I have replicated the problem by holding the phone with my index finger pressing lightly onto the area around the media card.It reminds me of the "death grip" issue that iPhone has, except this affects the media card instead of the antenna. Does anyone else have the same issue? Is it a media card problem, or a handset problem? Should I just exchange it for a new one (I just got it yesterday).
i woke up this morning and tried to watch a Internet video. my phone froze, i turned it off then back on and now no videos on Internet or my phone will play and music won't either, it just displays an error occured while trying to play media or something like that.
I am new here having jsut come from a BB Curve 8900 I love the speed of the new 9700 its a million times better. Anyway, I have a 2gb card installed but under the settings and memory section it says no card found. is there a way of getting it to reconise the card as my phone says its only got 90MB of internal memorey left which wont do me as I use it as a mp3 player as well.
i keep getting this message when i connect to DM."unable to open protected media session. exit the media player and try again." anyone have a fix for this? or what it means
My media card keeps asking me to repair it but then says its failed, everything has gone how do I get it back? And it says that there is no media card installed?
I got a new Curve 8520 today, after my last one (same model) gave me issues. Everything goes fine except for the media card which is unaccesible for fatal errors. I HAVE tried the following: Formatting the card, Repairing the card, formatting the card via PC (the pc reads it fine), connecting via desktop manager, restoring backups, removing and replacing card and battery. On my last phone the card gave me no errors at all.
And then I click yes. it says "If lost clusters are found during the repair, do you want to save them?" so I click yes.. then it says "Repairing card please wait".. then it says "Media Card Repair Failed". What do I do? I took out the card and the battery.
My BB 8900 is just about a week old. I had transferred a couple of videos and a few pics from my laptop on to the blackberry - and everything seemed fine for about a week. I was able to access both the videos & the pictures.
Now, for some strange reason, I'm getting the following error for my media card (and this is every time I plug out my BB from the USB connection to the laptop).
Following is the error -->
" ..A media card has been inserted that contains errors. To correct the errors please use a disk erro checking utility on a computer .. "
Now I can't access the videos and the pics on my phone. They dont seem to exist. The folders are all empty. But strangely, when I hook up my phone via USB to my laptop, I can still see the video & pic files in the Blackberry folder.
Q1 - What seems to be the problem? Is my media card corrupted ? If so, is this possible? since my unit is only about a week old.
Q2 - What is the appropriate way to plug/ unplug the USB from the Blackberry? I usually just plug it out . has this caused any problems, by any chance ?
So, I've searched, and I guess I'm not using the right terms, but my media card is having some problems. A couple weeks ago I added a good amount of music to my 4 GB card. Everything was working fine. Then one day, I had to reset my phone. Went into my Media link from my menu, "Scanning." Fine. It took forever, but when it was done, it wouldn't load my pictures after clicking the thumbnail. On top of that, the media player skips all my songs. I have to select each indvidual song or it will just repeat the song over and over with Repeat off. Looking at the playlist it just quickly highlights each one in the list and moves to the next. If I select each song it will play.If someone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome![EDIT]Also forgot to mention that I turned the phone off, took out the card, turned the phone on and used it for a while, turned it off again, and re-loaded the card. I'm thinking of just erasing the card and staring over.
