BB Bold 9700 :: "Media Card Removed" Error - Hardware?

Sep 6, 2010

Hi, I'm new here and hope to validate my gloomy intuition.Got my new Bold 9700 yesterday, and several times a day since then, I get the annoying message "media card removed", followed immediately by another message telling me that a new media card has been installed, and my media files will be automatically updated. It seems to be a hardware issue, as I have replicated the problem by holding the phone with my index finger pressing lightly onto the area around the media card.It reminds me of the "death grip" issue that iPhone has, except this affects the media card instead of the antenna. Does anyone else have the same issue? Is it a media card problem, or a handset problem? Should I just exchange it for a new one (I just got it yesterday).

BB (RIM) :: 9700 Keeps Saying The Media Card Is Removed

Apr 26, 2010

My 9700 is only about a month old and it keeps saying that the media has been removed. Or ill go to look at my pictures and I only have access to the ones saved on device memory. So I've been popping it in and out to have access to it, but now when I put it in again (and its pretty annoying having to do this constantly) it's like it doesn't even recognize that its there. I want to try and fix it myself before taking it to robbers, any idea whats going on here?

BB Bold 9700 :: 5.0.0.442 Soft Reset Bring Message On Screen "Media Card Installed All Media Will Be Copied Onto Device"

Feb 5, 2010

I recently installed OS 5.0.0.442 which was posted on the very first thread of the forum. I haven't had any issues with it until recently.

When I try a soft reset, I get the red indicator light as usual, but instead of resetting, I get a message on my screen that says something along the lines of "Media card installed. All media will be copied onto the device." After this dialog box goes away, the device does NOT reset. Any ideas on why the soft reset no longer works?

BB Bold 9700 :: Media Card Became Unformatted

Jul 26, 2010

I have a BlackBerry Bold 9700. I have taken many pictures that are on my media card. I was on Facebook and looking at a friend's pictures. It was taking too long to download the picture, so I hit the return key to exit out of Facebook. When I went into my pictures to view the ones I had taken, there were no pictures there and I got the message "A Media Card has been inserted that is not formatted. Do you wish to format the Media Card now?"

Of course nothing happens if I hit "No".

If I select "Yes" it says "Warning: Formatting the Media Card will destroy any data stored on it. Do you wish to continue?" Of course I don't want to continue. I just want my pictures and videos back!!!!I have tried turning the phone off and taking the battery out.I have inserted a different media card and it can find the pictures on that card. I have inserted my media card into a friends similar BBerry and I get the same message about the card not being formatted.

Questions:

1) Is there ANY way to get my pictures back?I believe I downloaded most of them through the Desktop Manager, but I am not sure..

2) Any idea why this happened so I know how to avoid it happening again in the future???

BB Bold :: Media Card Not Formatted Error

Nov 7, 2011

A couple of weeks ago I created a Back-Up & updated the software on my BFs BB Bold 9780, as he was getting a message saying there was no space for new photos when using the Camera, after BF had taken a photo. The photo was not stored, but there seemed to still be quite a bit of space on the Media Card.Following the update BF now gets a message each time he tries to access the Media Gallery or use the Camera, saying the the Media Card has not been formatted & providing a prompt to do so. After you format the Media Card it is possible to then take a photo. Or a couple of photos. If you try to go back to the Camera again or to access the Media Gallery the message comes back saying that the Media Card has not been formatted & provides another prompt to do so. If you follow the prompt again, you have delete all the data on the card. If you do not follow the prompt the Camera or Media Gallery does not open, you just go back to the title screen.

Last night I tried to connect BFs BB 9780 to my Laptop & after what seemed ages it hadn't connected & then when I finally disconnected the USB Cable, I received an error message on my Laptop saying the Media Card had a fatal something & could not be read...

The BB 9780 has suffered no real trauma to speak of, aside from dropped once or twice. The media card looks okay, I have removed it & put it back, still no change.

BB Bold 9700 :: Media Card Won't Let Me Delete Pictures

Jan 16, 2010

Just like it says, I'm not able to delete pics off my 16 gb card. Actually its more then that. When I press the menu key for options, in the section where " delete" and other options would be, all I show is properties. I've tested another card on my phone, no problems. I've tested this card on another 9700, same problem. Its definitely the card that is messed up. I've tried reformatting (won't let me reformat in my computer, I have to hook my bb up with it inside) and I still have the problem.

When I push the bugger back in, they work fine again. Will appreciate any advice other than returning the phone. I'd rather not send back the card either but will consider. Would rather just know how to make the card stick better if possible.

BB Bold 9700 :: Pre-load Media Onto Sd Card Before Inserting?

Jun 23, 2010

My friend just purchased a Bold 9700. I am going to install a 16GB micro SD card for him. The transfer rate is SO slow and I basically want to fill up the card with music and videos. To put on 10Gb seems like it's gonna take over an hour!! Maybe even two!! Ridiculous!!Would it be possible for me to load up all the music/videos onto the card at my house, then just pop the SD card into his phone with all the media pre-loaded? Or would it not work?

Also, just a side question, but if I fill up the majority of the card (let's say I leave about 1 or 2GB free), would it affect overall general speed of the phone, or is that not affected by the SD capacity?

I unlocked my phone the other day and it said that i needed to format my sd card.. AGAIN. so i lost over 200 pictures that i wont get back and now i have no source to listen to music on the go. If anyone has any idea on how to fix this please tell me. ive tride taking the battery out and back in to reboot it but it does the same thing, and ive tried taking out the card and putting it back in... nothing. If im paying upwards of $600 on a smartphone that says it can do these things, i expect it to work.

BB Bold :: Media Card Cannot Be Accessed Due To Fatal Error?

Sep 28, 2010

Alright, a friend of mine gave me a Blackberry Bold 9700 after unlocking it, which is awesome. What's not so awesome is that when I first turned it on, it informed me that the media card could not be accessed due to a fatal error. So I checked the card, made sure it was properly inserted, then went to the options menu and tried to format and repair the card, both of which failed. So I tried pulling the battery and that didn't work, either. Unfortunately, I don't have a card reader to actually check this out on my PC.I saw that there were other posts on here from people with similar issues, but I couldn't find a clear answer as to what works to resolve this.

BB Bold :: Media Card Error / Failure Upon Reboot?

Aug 3, 2011

after having experienced twice the problem about the Media Card error upon a reboot and after having read hundreds of posts only about how to fix the problem´╗┐, I tryed to think about what are the causes of this upsetting behaviour.Giving that the SD Card should be error free proven, these are my considerations:

1) When the phone shutdowns unexpectedly (e.g. battery drain or battery pull upon a freeze) Media Card is not safely unmounted, so if there were media files open by applications, the reboot finds them corrupted. NOTE that it couldn't be the very first reboot after a battery drain; maybe the files get corrupted only afer having accessed once again;

2) If using a SD Card of a Class higher than 2 (as far as I remember, the speed of the reader on the phone), it could happen that some transaction between the phone and the card is not closed correctly because the card response is higher than the phone can manage.I'd like to end up with some ideas in order to reduce the probability of this issue, that is anyway an unquestionably bug from RIM.
