My 9000 Bold suddenly changed the function key 'on/call' to 'jk', end/power to 'nm', track ball push to 'hl' and 'a' to 'uo'.No direct reason (never wet, crash, drop...) to find.Others have had this exact problem before but no solution so far?
View 1 RepliesNormal settings changed to something or other - guessing Default? Nothing done here on my end other than a couple app installs and then uninstalls. All the alert tones and default ringtone went to something other than what they were.

This morning, out of no where my blackberry started to act strange. if i push on the end button (the red one) it calls some one or if i push on the letter m, it starts typing m like a million times and now it has locked it self and i can't put in my password because the keys don't work.. what can i do? i took the battery out and left it resting for a few but if i can't put in my password how can i get to the phone and try to fix it?

I press the green/ answerr button it gives letter ‘k” I press the hang-up/red button it gives me the letter M, the track ball is not commanding, it rotates fine but once u click on it, it gives me a letter. Yesterday, I noticed that suddenly the Send (Green), End (Red), and "A"/* keys and the trackball click all stopped functioning. All other keys operate normally (and the trackball scrolls fine), but this is an exceptionally annoying problem. I can't believe it's hardware related, unless these keys all are somehow linked. That being said, I've tried numerous battery pulls, upgraded & downgraded the OS ( between the AT&T-approved .297 & .304, I believe) - and so far nothing on the software end.
The moisture indicators are white, and it hasn't been any closer to moisture then in my pocket during a rainstorm. This problem came on suddenly; I did, one other time, have issue with only the trackball click about a year ago, but that mischievously disappeared by itself after my brain melted in search of a solution.
I've searched around & seen many others with similar problems - but there are no causes given or solutions told of. I don't really want to take this damn thing apart, but it's running up on that real quick. My AT&T contract is up in a month, and I'm unwilling to spend $100+ dollars on a refurb replacement model via my protection plan so close to renewal.

Any help to this matter?I really hate setting my phone to password enable.
View 7 Replies View Relatedso I updated my OS and tinkered with my speaker (see seperate thread) and after putting my phone back together, the send function in e-mail is gone for replies. I can forward e-mails fine but if I hit reply, I get every option except "send". I actually had the same issue when I first got my phone but it has been so long ago that I cant remember how I fixed it. Can anyone assist?

View 9 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago the click function of my trackball stopped working. I think it was because I had moisture and dirt on my hand when I picked it up to use it. I have been reluctant to take it apart since I don't have a backup BB and it is still 90% functional without this feature working. Today, I did 3 things. First, I took rubbing alcohol and a q-tip and soaked the trackball. Then I used a piece of a straw, threaded it down between the black piece around the trackball and the chrome bezel, gently pulled up on it and used as much compressed air as possible to blow out the area under the trackball. Then, while the battery was out I pushed on the trackball assembly from behind pretty hard. I repeated this procedure a few times, and it suddenly started working. It was intermittent at first, but is working normally now. For how long I don't know but thought I would share this for others that have the same issue.

When powered up via usb and PC or direct from mains, all i het is the red message light showing all the time and nothing else ..but sometimes it goes out and on screen is a picture of a battery with a blue zig zag flash running through it. This is a bit random, but seems to alternate between either redlight or battery outline.
Plugging Bold into PC and running blackberry desktop manager does not do anything - the desktop manager does not recognise that a device has been plugged in (hence does not show PIN).Has the battery suddenly and completely died? (There were no signs of this happening before - no performance issues etc) ... or is it something far more serious?
I have a Bold 9000 that started out with the original Rogers operating system some time in 2008. I've upgraded it through various 4.6 (or is it 4.7?) OS versions and I'm now on 5.0.0.662 (I haven't gone to .681 yet mostly because I keep forgetting). On every single version of 5.0 I've tried (Wind, Azercell, etc) I have run into two problems.
1. The camera takes pictures that are way too bright when using the flash. It's like it doesn't reduce the exposure time when the flash is on - almost every flash picture is totally white. This happens in auto flash and when you force the flash on. Pictures without the flash work the way you'd expect them to.
2. I can't snooze the alarm using a side key while it's in the holster any more. The alarm ringtone starts playing, I press the volume up or down key while the phone is still in the holster. On OS 4.6, this would cause the alarm to snooze for ten minutes. On OS 5.0 it just restarts the alarm sound! Totally pointless. This is especially annoying for me as I need to take pills on a 12 hour basis and so I have alarms going off at least twice a day, every day.
I had my red 920 since 11/9 and it has been great until this Tuesday. Previously the battery was great and after full charge it usually showed battery life 1day or even longer. This Tuesday I used camera a lot. The handset did get warmer because of flash and focus assist lamp. After that night the battery darin rate became really fast. After one overnight charge 100% battery only shows 9hours and drain rate was like 10% per hour. why this occured suddently? Do I need to reset the phone to factory?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have had my BB Torch 9800 for about 6 months now and I really like it. It seemed to be working fine and all of a sudden about a month ago the keys would stop working. I have taken the battery out for a reset and that works for a little while, but they stop working again. The phone has not water or physical damage to it so I have no idea why it has started doing this. I called AT&T several different times and all they could tell me was to troubleshoot the software. I have done that and did all of the necessary updates.

It changed from the normal "qwerty" keyboard to the old style keyboard, with the abc on button "a", def on button "b", ghi on button "c" if that makes sense, like on old phones?It was like that all night. Switched my phone off at night as normal, switched it back on again in the morning and it was back to the "qwerty" keyboard again. Does anyone know what caused this to happen, it was really strange!!And I quite liked that old style keyboard, I dont know what the technical term for it is, but it was much quicker and less mistakes typing a message than the qwerty keyboard?

Someone brought me over a BB bold from morracco. Everything in the phone works fine excpet for the fact the moraccan keyboard has the "Q" and "A" keys switched and the "W" and "Z" switched. The keyboard itself can physically be switched to an american one BUT is it possible to reconfigure the phone to work as if it were american phone For example, the keys are in place as if the phone was american but if i push Q it types A and vise versa.

Why can't RIM develop a Bold 9xxx with the body of the Bold 9000 with larger memory, Trackpad, better camera? They've done it with the Tour and Curve. Plus they've got all the parts available already, just need a little engineering to fit the trackpad and everything else. C'mon RIM. We know you can do it. I'm sure you'd sell millions of them.

I need this for work and so I will be forking some dough out of my pocket to get one of the two following phones: Bold 9000 (I'll pay 100$ Canadian, not Us) Curve 8530 (pay 24.99$ Canadian). I am very used to the Iphone and HTC Touch Pro 2 (not trying to start a flaming/argument/anything else , its just what i'm used to). I am very used to browsing with the other phones and I have heard that BB phones are not up to par, so my expectations will be low. Out of the two phones however, does one perform better than the other (Curve 8530 vs Bold 9000)? Out of the two phones, which one do you recommend overall. I have read that the Bold 9000 even though it is older, it still outperforms the 8530...

The device still works, but two thirds of the LCD is now white and there's what looks like an inkblot on the left side of the screen. I'd like to try to fix it, but don't really want to shell out a lot of $ to do so --- I'm a month away from upgrading.Does anyone have any suggestions, or perhaps a dead BlackBerry with a working screen that you're willing to part with? A DIY repair -- this is out of warranty anyway -- looks straightforward, but I'm not sure I want to spend the $100 or so for a new OEM part to replace the LCD screen.

Now gmail, facebook, browser - none work. I've tried the battery pull, turning on/off the network, run a diagnostic test from mobile network options. In the mobile network test i get the volling anomolies "Blackberry PIN-PIN: No" and it says can't connect to my email (gmail).
View 5 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I pulled my phone out of the holster and It was really hot and when i looked at it i realized it was off, and wouldnt turn back on. just a red light comes on like normal upon a battery pull but after it turns off the red light comes back on again once more then stays off for good. unless i plug it in then it comes on and goes off all the time. I got it powered back up yesterday but then it did it again. Today I plugged it in and I saw a picture of a battery come up on the screen showing it as empty, i was hoping that meant it might charge up. but no such luck. My main objective is just to get the phone up long enough to back up the info on the phone.

I have had my 9700. I just noticed today that the sliver pieces that separate each row of keys are fragile. I have one piece that is totally broken on both sides under the Talk and End button, another broken one under the Q and the lower left one below the Z key. On all of them but bottom one, they were originally hard to see. Not sure how I found them but upon closer inspection, more and more were broken. The bottom one actually sticks up some.
My only concern is that they are going to get worse and totally break off and then free for all on dust and dirt in actual keyboard. These silver strips look real cheap. Anyone else have broken ones in their keyboard? How have you solved the issue? Can they easliy replace just the keyboard at the tech center? I have seen OEM keyboards for sale too but not sure I want to try that myself. I am going to call At&t but not sure if they will do a warranty swap for this. My wife has the same phone and hers are all fine and intact. I think parts of this phone were made on a budget. Bad design with the keyboard.
My Call Log used to show up on my main screen. I changed my theme, and now I cannot find it at all. Does anyone know how to find it and place it on the Menu screen?

Being prompted to login using BB ID to verify this change, I tried to log in but it was with no success. Now, my 9780 isnt connected to BIS regardless of having 3G coverage.I also had BB Protect on with my previous sim, when I changed card it gave me a message to confirm this change and asked to login with my BB ID, but tried over wifi and BIS but cant connect.
Having so much diffculties, I made a backup on my pc and run the security wipe. But, still unsuccessful.I tried rebooting, called my telco but still no success. Also, my telco told me that BB Protect had nothing to do with any of this and I'm from Malaysia.
