When I initially set up my 5S I plugged into my dad's Mac.. Now everytime I take a picture it goes right to his computer. how can I unsnyc it without losing any of my stuff on my phone?

I have always synced my iPhone 4 with my CPU at work, but I am trying to start over with my personal laptop. I have my music library loaded into this laptop just as I did at work. I am now trying to unsync my phone and just select certain genres from my library to sync. When I plug my phone in, iTunes recognizes it, I click on it on the left side, then I uncheck "Sync Music". Once I uncheck "Sync Music" it appears at the bottom that it will remove the music. It takes away all the blue from the capacity graph. I then click Apply, the sync begins and right before the end, the blue reappears on the capacity graph and all my music is still on my phone. I can't get it off to choose a new group of songs and resync it.

I updated my husband's iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.1 just now, and a huge chunk of his photos are missing. I believe the last time this phone was synced with any library, it was his library on his old computer. So, of our two computers, neither would have been a good choice for updating, since neither could be considered the original one it was synced with. My question is this: when iTunes updates software, it backs up and restores first, so why were all of his photos not backed up and restored during this process? He had about 500-600 photos and now he only has 241. Also his playlists are gone, music was gone, a bunch of stuff is now gone. I had to put some of it back manually. Needless to say I am in a bunch of trouble for this - I have been bugging him for months to update his phone so we could iMessage each other.

I want to sell my iPhone 4 and need to do a factory restore to remove all my stuff. When I connect it to iTunes and click on the 'restore' button it insists on updating the software to 7.1.2 first, which the phone already has. At the end of the update I get a message saying that the update was unsuccessful as it was corrupted. But I don't need the software anyway!! I just received a new phone and I backed up my iphone this morning on my phone not my computer. I just updated to iOS 5.1.1 on my iPhone 4. Tried to put in ringtones or "tones" as I guess its now listed, and was given the message: "Are you sure you want to sync tones? All existing songs, movies and TV shows on the iPhone "HP_Owner's iPhone" will be removed."
I couldn't see any other way to get ringtones, so I tried it anyway. The message wasn't lying. I immediately gained a lot of capacity back on the capacity bar from songs, etc. I somehow got out of it and the capacity returned. Do I need to go through it all again and figure out how to install an older iOS?

Last night around 12:00 I had fallen asleep watching TV. Got up around 1:30 am to go to bed. Looked at phone and it was downloading something but can't remember what it was. All I remember was it seemed like it may have been some kind of system type of download. Automatic download is turned off and whatever it downloaded did not install, it just downloaded and disappeared. It's not in download folder. So is there a way to find out what it was?
