Just got a loan iphone 5 today while my Dad's phone has been sent for repair, it has sound on facetime but not on calls or skype. I have checked volume is on, cleaned the speakers and it isn't connected to anything. Is this a hardware fault or is there a way of fixing it?

Any way to fix the root glitch for the lack of sound on skype calls? Have been looking found a solution for a atrix and wondering if this would work on a flipout. I got the darn phone so that I could call home to the states cheaply.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen making or receiving voice calls via my network operator's service, no one can hear me, i.e my audio input. I can hear the person on the other end of the phone fine but they can't hear me whatsoever. However when I use the likes of viber, skype and facetime, my audio input is perfectly fine and the person on the other end of can hear me. Note both viber and skype calls work just fine and 2 way communication is audible regardless if I have a 3G or Wifi connection. Plus I have full signal bar strength when near a mobile tower so that eliminates antenna issues. Also have taken alternative turns to cover both the top mic and the bottom mic during a viber or skype call and my audio input can still be heard. I've done a reset, a hard reset of the phone and a reset of the network settings, still to no avail. Have updated iOS to the latest version 5.1.1.

For some reason when using a Bluetooth headset (Used a Sony MW1 Smart Wireless Headset Pro, set and a Fiat Blue&Me Car Bluetooth) the sound keeps breaking off both for me and the person I’m calling. I get long brake after witch the sound returns for a while.

When using a wired headset there is no issue like this. nor do I have the issue when i do regular phone calls using the sets

Furthermore sometimes the Bluetooth sound doesn’t turn on at all, so I get no sound neither on the loudspeaker nor on the Bluetooth set although the BT volume is set to max
How to stop the Skype calls? If I wanted them I'd have Skype installed!

Now I installed Skype on the 5630 and can do the "Skype testing call" w/o problems via WLAN, but I'm not sure how to activate the video function. Does it work? If so, how? Or do I have to use SIP for video telephony instead of Skype?

Every few calls, the speakerphone starts working midway through the call. On Skype video calls, the same thing. The audio comes only from the earpiece. I have removed and reinstalled Skype. No change. The ringer works as do all the notifications so the speaker is working. I have tried disabling bluethooth to make sure it was not interfering. No change.

I purchased an iPhone 4S in October and loved it. Unfortunately, I had a persistent issue. Whoever is on the other side often reported hearing a loud chirping or screeching sound during calls. It happened frequently, too -- on about half the calls I made. Apple replaced the phone for me Tuesday, but the replacement model is doing the same thing. Is this a known issue?

I have tried restoring all my settings, refreshing the phone, and turning it off as well as switching the side button to ringer on (I read this in a forum and did it despite it seeming ridiculous). None of this helps me when I make calls.

I was chatting with AT&T online support and he tried resetting and other various options to fix it but finally advised me to take it in to a store and get a new sim card. I just did that and still, I do not have sound. I havent damaged my phone in any way, I havent dropped it or wet it....I checked to see if its still under warranty but of course, it expired. iPhone 4S, iOS 7.1.1 with AT&T: When I place an outgoing call, there is no ringing tone on my end. I can hear the person when they answer, and they can hear me. This is happening with all numbers, not just specific ones (both cell and land lines). I've tried switching to speaker phone, which makes no difference. I've checked my bluetooth setting, and am not connected to another source. I'm not in airplane mode, or Do Not Disturb. My operating system is up to date.
