I have had this problem with my old iPhone 5 and have the exact problem with the fact same songs on my iPhone 6plus. I will drag songs over and they "appear" on the phone but the are only gray instead of black and therefore they are unplayable. I happens with songs that I purchased on iTunes and with ones loaded on from CDs. Is it iTunes Match? Is it something else?

My music collection on the iphone is full of unplayable music (grayed out) it just skips to the itunes songs. i have tried everything to delete it all using the usages and delete all music option. It almost looks like a music database needs to be rebuilt!! Yes they are CD's of mine i have added to the list and they worked once. Just started playing up after i ran a restore when my phone got updated from a 4sÂ

After syncing music from iTunes (v10.6) to my iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1) I can see all the albums, artists and songs I selected but in grey font and it's impossible to reproduce them. I know the songs are there because I can see the memory they are using, but they are not available. I tried turning off, deleting and starting from zero, selecting one song, selecting a reproduction list, always the same. My music is stored in a Time-Capsule, but this should not be the problem because I can reproduce it from iTunes...

My MOTOACTV has been acting funky lately. It's done a couple of weird things (including appearing to "brick" last night before dying), but the most frustrating is that audio files that used to be playable on it are now listed by the device as unplayable.I specifically converted protected audio files in iTunes to unprotected MPEG files (using TuneClone) and made sure to use just these files when creating the playlists for my MOTOACTV. For several weeks (I've had the product for a little over 2 months), all was well. The songs played just fine, the playlists worked as expected, etc... Lately, though, not so much.
The songs in question are still listed in my "Songs" list as well as under their respective playlists, but rather than being black text, they are a medium gray. When tapping on these songs (and it appears to be about 30% of the songs), I get the following message:Unplayable FileThis file appears to be an unsupported type and cannot be played.I was wondering whether the file(s) might have been corrupted somehow, so I completely unsynced all of my playlists, (theorhetically) deleting all music from the device. MotoCast USB reported all files being removed from the device. Then, I resynced all files, but the problem remains.Then, I thought that perhaps the ORIGINAL files were corrupted, so I tested the files on the device through Finder, and found that they played just fine in iTunes.
Another issue that is perplexing me is the fact that I have FAR more songs listed in my "Songs" list than should be present on the device. Currently, I've synced just 2 playlists, with a total of 46 songs, though there is a good bit of crossover, so I should have something like 30 songs on my device. I have many, many more than this liste
Whenever I try to sync my playlists onto my MotoACTV from Itunes only half of the songs make it. I received a message stating that "662 files are protected" so they did copy over. How do I unprotect those songs? I have looked in Itunes and cannot find out how.

Ok look, it is not a hardware issue, why? Because five minutes before updating i was surfing youtube, I decided to go from ios 7 to ios 8.1.1, and then suddenly my wifi is like NOPE and is grayed out and useless. I hear its cause newer ios's over heat the older wifi components, but i can not prove or even look into that. All i know is that freezing it works for about an hour, then its kaput and grayed out again. Funny how my ipod 4 still works after years and years but my iphone doesn't. I have done the whole reset network settings song and dance, all that's left is to dig through the files and force it to work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy iPhone 4s 7.1.1 no longer allows me to turn on my WiFi or Bluetooth. The wifi is grayed out and doesn't respond to touch, the bluetooth has the constantly spinning loading icon instead of the activation switch.Â

I recently lost my computer to a harddisk failure. Now when I plug my iPhone to my new computer, all the songs are greyed out in iTunes and i'm not allowed to play them. As all my music was on my now broken computer I no longer have the music, so I can't just add it again. View 5 Replies View RelatedI just finished updating my Iphone 4's firmware to iOS 5.1. I have all of my text messages, notes, contacts, and mail restored, but none of my music, videos, or any of my downloaded apps have been restored. I tried to manually restore them but the last backup didn't save music, videos, or apps only the texts, notes, and contacts. After checking and unchecking the sync apps, etc. box in itunes under my phone, itunes will update the amount of memory used on my iphone, but it doesn't actually sync anything. I have tried to manually manage my music and vice versa but still nothing.
Also, I cannot sync through wi-fi because even though the box is checked for it on iTunes, my phone is not recognizing. My main problem is that the apply button for my changed options on iTunes is NOT working aka greyed out. I don't want to call Apple support and pay a ridiculous amount for a problem that's probably easily fixed or restore my phone again. Also, I have tried restarting my phone, itunes, and my computer various times. I am running the latest version of iTunes, ios firmware, and I have a pc.
