Jun 9, 2014Just got my M8 Friday and I absolutely love it so far. However, both me and my husband have tried tirelessly to find how to search Google, or the Play Store, or other places in the phone with a search bar. We came from the Droid Razr (talk about an upgrade!) and that had a "GO" button to tell Google to search more than just the drop-down, suggested searches results. Is there anything on the M8 that is equivalent - to make Google actually search what you typed in, rather than having to choose from suggestions (which usually aren't what you want)?

May 9, 2014I activated a Nexus 5 on Sprint back in March.
however is that the phone does not appear in my device listing in the Play Store when I access it on a computer, or on Android Device Manager when I access it from a computer or from the phone itself! I can access the Play Store just fine from the phone, but cannot install apps from a computer. From the Play Store or ADM I can see my Nexus 7 and my old phone, but not the Nexus 5. The phone is set up with the same Google account as the other devices.

May 2, 2015I cannot download anything on my Nexus 5 from the play store at the moment. When I press download it gets stuck at 'installing...' forever. It started with the facebook app updating, forcing me to have to download the messenger app (I had used a workaround to avoid having to install it before), but when that wasn't installing I decided there had to be something wrong with facebook. I UN-installed Facebook, but now Facebook app gets stuck as well. Then I tried to find a replacement app, Fast for Facebook, but the story is the same.

Jul 25, 2015I just starting experiencing this yesterday when I tried downloading line messenger but google download bar keeps loading but actually doesnt download it and give an error 194.
I tried downloading other apps and the same happened so I tried troubleshooting by researching over the internet and got a very few solutions like:
-clearing google play store cache and data
-clearing google services cache and data
-then rebooting
I also tried re-syncing my google accounts
I have two of them one is personal and the other is my office
I also tried using just one account but no luck
so eventually I came to a conclusion of hard reset which usually fixes everything
But guess what no luck with a bit of different outcome
the download status keeps downloading but does not actually download only this time it doesn't give any error messages like "194"
I am using wifi i don't use mobile data also my mobile is LG G3 D855 on android lollipop 5.0 which came with the mobile.
So is it my account or my wifi that has a problem or is my phone malfunctioning. Cause I can still download apks and install them just that I cant from google play store...

Then, a couple days ago I went to open chrome and a pop up came up saying I had a virus. I backed out of it, downloaded AVANT and it didn't find any issues. Now when I go to chrome, the phone randomly redirects to the play store trying to get get me to download all kinds of different apps. Feb 11, 2015When I first registered my account I was in Malaysia, hence the store is set to Malaysian one. But, currently I'm no longer living there but It still detects Malaysia as my country. However, the store is still set to Malaysian Playstore. I do not wish to change this because my country playstore is really boring and dull. So, I was wondering if change my phone number and credit card info from account setting to my current one, would it change my playstore too?

Apr 11, 2014I have a Nexus 5, completely stock 4.4.2, never tampered
Whenever there are multiple updates in the Play Store and I press "Update", the first app updates, then the second one starts downloading, but the download hangs at some point, then after a few seconds the entire Play Store app closes without any message.
After that I can open the Play Store again and try to update the apps, but they only update one at a time, because on the second update it always crashes.
All the Google apps are at the latest versions, Play Store has version 4.6.17. This is happening for a while now, but I can't pinpoint it to a certain version of the Play Store app, but in the past I did not have this problem.
I've tried restarting the device, clearing data and cache for the Play Store app, clearing the cached data for the entire system, even switching the runtime (btw the problem is happening on both Dalvik and ART), but nothing worked.
I also have enough Available space: 4 GB as reported in Settings/Storage.
On my wife's Nexus 4, also completely stock and with updated Google apps, the problem it's not happening, so it's not something in my environment.

Aug 1, 2015The latest update keeps giving me error 504 from the play store which I've googled and done the things suggested for the error. Wipe cache and data of play store. Remove Google account and log it back in. But still nothing so i manually downloaded from apk mirror and even that way says not installed when trying to update.

May 8, 2015It seems to be specific to my Moto X and does not occur on my Nexus 5 or Nexus 7. If I have an app updating/installing and turn the screen off, no further action occurs until I turn the screen back on. I actually first noticed this immediately after a factory reset. When trying to update the ~28 apps that were out of date I selected Update and then turned my screen off... After about an hour I turned it back on, and none of the apps had updated. They started updating as soon as I turned the screen on.I have tested this on WiFi and mobile data, and I do have background data enabled and WiFi set to always stay on.

Jun 24, 2014I have noticed an issue with the Galaxy S5 that apparently only occurs with the Verizon variant. I work for a place called Wireless Advocates, we are the cell phone kiosk inside of Costco. I'm asking about this because I've had three customers come in to ask about this background data issue.
I'm not sure what triggers this issue but when I try opening up google play I get the "Background Data Disabled : Google Play Store Needs background data to be Enabled" error. It then gives you the ability to either quit or enable the data. If you press enable it takes you to the account screen in settings.
When I go to Data usage the option to "restrict background data" is greyed out. You can't even select it and it isn't checkmarked either. Just to clarify, accessing the internet and other things on the phone work perfectly fine. It's just the use of Google Play that is having issues. I called Samsung customer care and they aren't aware of this issue at all. Also note that force stopping google play, play services, removing the google accounts and adding them back and rebooting the phone haven't solved it. After the reboot the phone will appear fine and then a box that says "Restricting background data".

Also the mobile radio active figure is always going up and up!
I do have a android wear device synced but I always have and never noticed this is lollipop.
What could be causing this? I don't have Google now or location services on ...
