I have a new problem after 7.1.2, when I get a phone call, I cannot hear or be heard on the phone, but if I put it on speaker... it's fine. So what's up?
View 2 RepliesA few days ago, out of the blue, I lost the ability to be able to hear or be heard when on a call on my iPhone 4. On a call, no matter which output I use, earpiece, earphones or speaker, I cannot hear the person on the other end speaking, and they cannot hear me talking. My phone will ring if someone is calling, and if I call someone their phone will connect, but from there I am completely muted/in silence. I do not believe this is a hardware related issue as I have tested both the microphone and speaker/s by making a Skype call to a friend which worked absolutely fine. I can also play music from my phone successfully through all of the iPhone outputs mentioned above. This is a super frustrating issue as I haven't dropped the phone or damaged any of the hardware. The only one software related thing I notice that is out of the ordinary is that when I do make a call, the 'speaker' icon is selected by default. Obviously I have attempted to deselect it, but have had no success in this making any difference.

Several of my 9930 users are complaining of suddenly not being able to hear any thing and the person they are calling can't hear them. Only fix is to pull the battery and replace. Are there any 7.0 bugs known that could be causing this?

When I make a phone call I can hear the other line but they cannot hear me. At first I thought it was a blue tooth connection problem, so I used the head phones. I got the same result. I disconnected the head phones and used the phone directly and also using the speaker, but I still could not be heard.

When making or receiving a call, the caller or the person I am calling cannot hear me. If I turn on speaker, they can hear me. This is a new iPhone 4, I traded in my 1 year old iPhone 4, because it also was having this issue, & the apple store staff could not fix it.
I have tried turning on/off, plugging in ear buds and unplugging them, cause I heard that could help, & syncing the phone. Nothing has worked yet that I have tried.

My iPhone 4 which is appx 4 years old with latest iOS has developed this problem last week. After a hello on connecting a call with anyone, it just goes blank. Neither am I able to hear any voice from the other side nor the person on the other side is able to hear me. I have a problem with using my phone that started several weeks ago and has been steadily getting worse. When I make a call, the person on the other end answers and I can hear them but they can't hear me. This also happens occasionally when someone calls me. I can hear them but they can't hear me. I have good reception, 4 or 5 bars. I haven't accidentally hit the mute button with my cheek. I try turning the mute button on and off with no results. I have shut the phone off for a while and then started it up and there is no improvement.
Today I was probably able ot only talk to 60% of the people that I tried dialing. There is one person in particular that I have to call multiple times per day for business and this happens 95% of the time with her. I depend on being able to use the phone; I'm in the life safety business. As far as I can tell, everything else works, other apps work just fine. I can text and email, surf the net, etc. I have an iPhone 4 version 6.0.1 (software?). It doesn't seem to matter if I am on a 3G or E network. The problem persists. No, I don't want to update the iOS, the GUI is butt ugly (Steve would be turning over in his grave if he saw this iOS) and everyone that I know that has an iPhone 4 and has done the 'upgrade' has had problems with slow operation and battery suck.Â

When I am calling people, the phone call often drops out.
