Xseries :: Nokia X6 Keyguard Broken Off - Now Screen Permanently Locked
Sep 24, 2010I have had an X6 for about a month now, and the slider keyguard on the phone had broken off. The phone is now in a permanent state of saying 'use keyguard to unlock keys and screen'. Obviously I cant because it doesn't work!!
I have tried leaving it switched off for 15 mins, and restating it. This lets me restart the time and date but then locks once the phone opens up. I have tried a drawing pin and paper clip to slide the keyguard without the keyguard but to no avail.

Sep 12, 2011I bought my X7 just today and I was playing a game on it at work, when all of a sudden my screen went black. I thought it had locked itself so I pressed the button and touched where it says unlock but all it did was vibrate. I tried turning it off but as far as I can tell it won't turn off, keeps vibrating when I touch the same spot. I tried plugging it in for 5-10 min to see if it was cause it was going flat but still nothing...

Jun 14, 2011I went to turn my nokia x6 on this morning and it vibrated but the screen stayed black and no buttons lit up. I tried taking the battery out and putting it back in, i tried connecting it to a usb but nothing. All i can do is turn it on and off.

Sep 8, 2010Just got a problem with my X6. When I switch it on the phone vibrates and the three lights at the bottom of the phone come on. ( the call, menu and end keys). But the screen stays black. I try pressing the power button but nothing. Take out the battery and leave it out for a while then but it back in. Press the power button, phone vibrates, the three lights come on but the screen stays black. I have not yet tried the four finger reset method although I guess I might have to.Anyone got any ideas what the problem might be.

Nov 28, 2011I thought that the X7 is supposed to use the proximity sensor to send the screen black during a call because it is next to your face. My phone automatically puts the screen black when I make a call, even if the phone is on the desk or held out in space. Either way, it is very rare for me to be able to convince the phone to bring the screen display back up, ( to do things like enter little things like pin codes ). I flip it around, hold it up to the lights, put it against something, take it away, press every part of the screen. Is there any way of setting the phone not to go black during a call?

Mar 4, 2010I am helping out a friend who has a Nokia 6280. She claimed that it's infected by a virus because her problems started after using a Bluetooth headset. I don't quite believe this as I've heard it's more likely to be struck by lightning than to have this phone infected with a virus. Anyhow, the problem is the following: When you power on the phone, you get the Nokia handshake, then the phone loads. However, as soon as the phone loads, a bunch of black lines appear to streak across the screen rendering it black. That's not a huge issue because it goes away after a few seconds. Now I've read this could be an issue related to the ribbon that connects to the screen, but the screen turning black does not occur in any other instance other than right after when the main screen appears. I can play with the slider all day and nothing will happen, but like clockwork the problem appears after the phone loads.What gives? The phone works fine otherwise, so what could the problem be? If you need any more information I will be happy to provide. I've uploaded a video of this issue here (using my 5800 XpressMusic at night - the quality isn't that great sorry, but it does show the problem). Pardon the audio - my kids were watching Spongebob Squarepants so you might want to turn the audio all the way down! I guess my question is two-fold:
1) can this in fact be the result of a virus?
2) if this isn't due to a virus, what is it due to?

Jul 14, 2014I just upgraded from the HTC DNA to the M8, one thing I don't like and can't figure out if there is a workaround, on the DNA the lock screen would display all of my notifications (text, email, calendar) right on the lock screen so I could screen on and immediately see.
On the M8, with them turned on, it displays one line with all notifications hidden, and you need to swipe down to be able to see all of the notifications... which to me doesn't seem to make it any more useful than the notification bar that's already there.
Is there a way to make this notification area on the lock screen permanently expanded? The space below seems completely unused so I don't understand why you need to swipe down to expand in the first place.

Aug 17, 2010I know this has probably been asked before but for the life of me I have never seen a satisfactory answer. The company has recently presented us with Nokia E71 phones.How do you display your own number on your phone.Not how do you find it but display it on the screen so that it is always there.I have seen ideas like create a new profile and call it your number...or place it in contacts either as first number or own number.It would be nice to have it permanently displayed on the home screen or a one touch key that popped it onto the screen when required.God knows the number of time I've been asked my mobile (and there is a couple of them) and can't remember it.
So you need to fish the phone out unlock and trawl around looking for it.Ideal solution would be pop phone out press one key and number is present.Even if there is a piece of software which will allow this or creation of a screensaver with the number on it would be preferable to fishing around looking for the number.I mean with all the technology available to us in mobile phones today you think there would be a simple option to display own number.

Mar 23, 2012I've recently acquired an Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i) with Android 2.3.4 but the screen is permanently in landscape mode. And before anyone says check display settings. Yes it is in auto rotate with full animations on. Tried repair from SE companion, hard and soft reset but to no avail.
When i check services using the *#*#7378423#*#* request, accelerometer appears to work just fine as does the Slide flip Keyboard count. I originally thought it might of been hardware fault. But these tell me otherwise.
Although, admittedly it did switch to portrait view once for a split second whilst sliding the keyboard in half way. I haven't been able to replicate it since.

Aug 29, 2011Normally the tray stays on my home screen permanently with one row of icons, and when I open the tray the rest appear. I liked this setting and found it easy to manage. However, while playing about with whether to show 1 icon etc, when the tray is closed it completely collapses now? I've changed it back to default tray setting, but it still hasn't fixed? How do I fix this, without putting it back to factory settings? (as I have a number of txt messages that I need to keep saved).

Aug 29, 2014This one will be hard to describe so I'll do my best: Somehow, I have 2 Toolbox Icons on my screen. One is movable and fully functional (works normally) and the other is stuck in the bottom right corner of my screen and is grayed out (but visible) and is not movable or functional.
I have done the following:
1) Reset phone;
2) Turned the Toolbox "on" and "off" in Settings (when doing this, the functional Toolbox Icon turns on and off as it should);
3) Battery pull. Still, no luck as the non-functioning Toolbox Icon simply will not go away...

Jan 3, 2012I have a Blackberry Curve 8530. Several months ago, during daily use, the screen would all of a sudden go black. A battery pull would solve this problem for a while. Eventually this became more frequent. Symptoms progressed (it seemed that if I set the phone down too quickly it would reset) Finally, the phone would turn on, then go immediately to a white screen where it was undetectable by my computer. I contacted my service provider and they said the phone was toast and (amazingly enough) gave me a free loaner to use for the duration of my contract (all info transfered via an old backup, so nothing was lost) After my new phone was working I left my Curve plugged in at my office. Yesterday as I was leaving I looked at the phone again, and the screen was white and telling me to reload software 507.
I plugged it into my computer to begin the process and to my surprise the computer all of a sudden detected the phone and successfully upgraded the software. All looked great, I got past the password stage, and was just going to begin reloading my information when the screen faded to blank again. I still have the free loaner phone, so it's not a big deal, but it's bugging me as to what the problem could be. As of right now the computer can no longer detect the phone again

May 20, 2011So I recently have been having problems with my phone and its screen not turning on. Its the original droid and I guess alot have people have had this problem. But I am at a fork in the road:(this is the thrid time the screen has done this)Last night I went to check my phone and it appeared to be off, my power button does not work so I have to plug it in to turn it on. But the charger light was on so that meant the phone was already on. the buttons lit up still as well. Being this is not the first time I took the battery out for about an hour and put it back in, plugged it in, and still nothing. The M sign that comes up when you first turn it on doesen't appear and neither does anything else on the screen. But when i recieved a call I could answer the call like the screen was working but still was not on. I left the battery out all night from 8pm-6am and still nothing but i can still answer the calls. Left it out until 2 this afternoon and still nothing. I have no idea what to do.

Jan 23, 2010I love the bedside mode of the Storm 2, especially with the dock I recently purchased. The only problem is, I like the room dark as possible and even with the phone in bedside mode when charging, and the setting check to dim the clock, it's still far to bright.
Is there a way of having clock on, but have the screen go off with the usual setting to black the screen after say 30 seconds or whatever I choose for the backlighting time out, then have the screen come on if I reach over and touch the screen to display the clock, then letting the backlighting go off again after the preset time?
This would make the setup perfect for me, allowing me to use the Storm 2 as a bedside clock without having to have the display on all the time, but being able to turn it on for a short period of time as needed. If this is possible, can somebody post the settings needed
