is it possible to disable the light sensor on the Mini ? even though I have the display brightness set to maximum it still dims when the light level is low, this makes the screen flicker, it's really annoying
I am having this Xperia Mini Pro in my family since May 2012. When I purchased, it came with GB, and very soon there after, the update/upgrade to ICS was released. The upgrade was duly installed through the PC Companion.
I had initially noticed that there is no "Automatic" option under Menu → Settings → Display → Brightness. But then, the handset was in use mainly by my wife and I didn't think much about it since she always keeps the brightness at maximum or near there. Recently we swapped handsets and since I'm a heavy user, I looked for the setting to reduce battery usage, but couldn't find it!
I thought there must be some miss/bug in the software. I downloaded "Andro Sensor" from the market and there is no "Ambient Light Sensor" shown by that app! In fact, it says Light sensor not supported - see screen shot below:
Where as in the "White Paper on SK17" found on Sony's website [URL], at page 5, it says "Yes" against "Ambient Light Sensor".
My question is whether the sensor is there in the production version or not? It is there, then it appears the sensor in my handset is not working and needs repair/replacement under warranty?
After the recent update to 4.1.B.0.587, I observe that my display brightness fluctuates randomly, and this happens very often.
I want to know if there is a way to disable the automatic ambient light detection which adjusts the screen brightness according to the environment you are in.I use the Nokia 700 with Symbian Belle, and I cannot see an option to disable it. Most devices with the sensor can disable it. Android of course, but even Apple device can! This is blasphemy! Apple having greater customisability than Nokia?
I've just bought a 5230 and I'm really annoyed that I don't have the functionality my E51 had where if it was really dark the screen would dim down. This is an important thing to me since I tend to read at night and I dislike having to go all the way to settings and so on.
Do you know any piece of software that could change screen brightness based on the light sensor readings?I'm just amazed the phone software doesn't do that on its own but hey s60v5 is worse than s60v3...
I having the problem after update my X10 to android 2.1. I found that my screen light sensor (which actually works b4 under different environment lighting) and the LED notification light (it works b4 while I got the missed call or sms) do not work after update to android 2.1... One more is, the screen color gradation seem worst that b4...is it normal?
So I cracked my phone a while ago, had the screen replaced at a local place and the screen looks fine, the phone functions almost 100% perfectly.  The thing that bugs me is that the phone seems to have the proximity sensor always on. When I answer a call, the screen turns black, and I am unable to turn the screen on until the call ends. I would rather just have the proximity sensor completely off. I just want my screen to be on when I'm on calls, or at least able to turn on with the power button.Â
today i notice that in the upper right corner of my atrix 2 , in that part where the proximity or light sensor is located , there is a faint red light dot, and no... it is not the notification led.
My problem is that when starting calls I put the phone to my ear and it is muted. The other end hears me, but I dont hear them. This happens most of the time, but not always.I have tested the proximity sensor and the test is OK most of the time and across most of the screen. But since this is creating such frustration, with customers loosing me on the phone, I just want the phone to work as it does on my old HTC Touch Pro:When starting a call the screen automatically goes blank and I cannot accidentally touch the mute button or anything else. Can I do this on my X10 Mini Pro?Alternatively, can I move the mute button to somewhere else on the screen or remove it entirely?
1) I want to change the proximity sensor settings i.e. turn off or on. apart from the secret menu is there is a way to do in x10 mini. I am using droid 2.1
2) When one receives an sms an envelope icon appears in the notification bar. how do we disable that feature.
My problem is the screen goes blank when making a call and does not wake up. I cannot therefore use the keypad or terminate a call.I replaced the screen a while back and everything worked fine for 5 months until now.I am looking to disable the proximity sensor as it does not work so the screen is then on all the time when making a call.I have not been able to do it through settings so is there an app that would do the trick.Model is D855
Just picked up a m8 off a buddy. I noticed when I hover over the sensor next to the ffc the screen goes off. Not sure if this should be happening or If there Is a way to disable this from happening.
Is there a way I can disable some services like Gtalk. I never use gtalk then why should I spend memory on this. Already Xperia Mini Pro runs on low memory after you install few apps. I am using task killer but still only 10-15% memory (RAM) is free which makes things go slow.
I don't want other people to read my SMS when they holding my Xperia X10 Mini Pro in their hand.Is there any way I can disable SMS notification on the Status bar?
I had a bit of an accident with my iPhone about 8 weeks ago, some tool spilt their drink down my leg, which got liquid into the docking port of the phone (sensor has been tripped) The backlight died and the phone wouldn't play sound out loud, although if it was rang it was fine (??) I left it switched off and the next day it started to function normally again.couple of weeks later and the backlight has died again, this time for good. i've tried resets etc, and it looks as if it needs a hardware repair, an LCD screen one would assume. The phone has been opened by a 3rd party, and they quoted a £110 repair, so i've decided i'm going to buy the part and fix it myself. Will replacing the LCD solve the problem, as i have read of occasions where this has not fixed a backlight problem?Any ideas on where I can get the cheapest deal on a replacement 3GS LCD screen?Could this be a problem thats related to something other than LCD?
I've been having issues with my BB9900 for the past few months. It seems whenever I come under direct sunlight the sensor automatically drops the backlight. I can still barely make out the screen however I have to cover the sensor to get the backlight to come back on. It has become quite an annoyance as I find I can't use my phone outside during the day anymore.I have my backlight set at 10 currently with automatic on. I have tried to turn it to 100 and turn off automatic however that didn't resolve my issue.
after i installed gingerbread for my phone, the light sensor seems to be acting funny. it will light up the soft keys and my keyboard in low light conditions, but once it is pitch black the keys will not light up at all.
Is there a way to disable APN without disabling data traffic? I have seen some different apps doing it, but how can I do it manually? I ask because I only use wifi and not 3G.
I just upgraded my Xperia Mini from Gingerbread (Gb) to Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). Recently, i'm facing some difficulties where my Data Traffic suddenly disable after i close my browser or any app.Fyi, i used packet data and i leave my phone connected to the internet without restriction in case ther is any update / email / notification pop up. So now, when this things occurs, i have to enable back my data traffic everytime it disable.
I bought the X10 mini pro a week back. Whenever I try to unlock my mobile, I am asked to press and sweep to unlock my phone followed by the draw pattern (which i have enabled in the location and security section) to unlock the mobile completely. Now I don't want the Press and Sweep option to unlock my mobile. I just want the draw pattern to unlock the mobile. Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to disable that Press and Sweep to unlock option in the mini pro or any app to disable it?? I tried the No Lock App but that is disabling the draw pattern to unlock as well.
way to remove/disable or update Games by Popcap (com.scoreloop.magicbox), which came preinstalled with my Xperia mini pro? It's awfully annoying, because whenever I connect my phone to my computer (for my android app development, or just to charge the phone), the Games by Popcap service starts to eat 100% of the phones CPU power and continues to do so until forced to close. Unfortuntely the phone's preconfiguration restarts the application, although it won't misbehave until next connection.
SE/Google wants to make the slide to unlock available, but the way as it is currently implemented is very annoying. The on/off button already locks the screen nicely and I really don't need another obstacle to pass.On the other hand if you use slide to unlock the screen should not be black ever. I know the X10 mini battery is just not good enough for that...
