Just updated to lollipop. Now i can't use the power button anymore to set the volume on silent. I only have the options shutdown, restart, take screenshot and screencapture. Is it possible to add functions to the power button?

1) Cannot seem to update/install Apps - It just sits there acting like it is updating, the status bar scrolls, but nothing gets updated (or installed). As an example, I tried updating Facebook through the Google Play Store - My Apps option, sat for 10 minutes, and it never updated (but it still says I need an update). This is true for a large number of Apps that I have. I tried to install Helium so I could back up before a factory reset, and the same thing happened. It never installed.
2) Network vs. Wifi - At home, I use my Wifi connection, and I noticed that both the Wifi signal indicator and the Network Signal indicator display. I know this did not occur on the S4 (with Android. 4.4.4). Is this normal behavior for Lollipop to display both Wifi and Network connectivity?
3) Can't find a microphone for Speech-to-Text messaging on either the LG or Google keyboards. I saw one article that shows it is in the predictive text field area, but it isn't appearing on mine. - Actually - I just resolved this - it is hidden under the settings icon on the LG keyboard. I had to long press the icon for it to display.
4) No Silent Mode from the Long Press of the Power Button.
On my Lumia 950, it will reset when I hold down the power button for 10 seconds but this should only happen when holding down both the volume down button and the power button at the same time. My Lumia 920, which is also running build 10.0.10586.29, can have just the power button held down and once I swipe away the power off prompt, it works normally and stays on just like I want.I would like to use my Qi enabled car mount but it needs to push down on the power button, causing it to constantly restart.

And I don't see any settings for that. Seems like the hardware buttons are broken... Need a repair?
Yesterday the volume down button and power button started not working. This has happened before and usually if I turn it off and on again the problem is fixed. That's not working this time. The power button works about 2/3rds of the time and the down volume button won't work at all, it sometimes even lowers the volume by itself. Because of this problem, whenever I turn the phone off and on again it brings me to the fastboot page and puts my phone on safemode, which I can't get out of. I've tried taking the battery out and putting it back in, doing a factory data reset, and using recovery mode.

My nexus 5 after some random reboots on latest cataclysm rom started to have a problem that power and volume button were not working at all. I have done everything and even flashed it all back to stock with no luck. The power and volume buttons work perfectly in bootloader mode but dont work in recovery or in the rom.

The best product to date i have used for tracking my gym session.I have noticed that everytime i press the power button, the volume increase and the music section starts ups. Very hard to track my gym work majority of the time as it stops the start button to work.I have updated to the latest version, no change in behaviour.Powering off is not an option as it automatically goes into bootloader mode, very hard to get it out of bootloader mode.

I also noticed that sometimes the ringer volume is fully silent even if I havent adjusted it. I did do a software repair & it rang for just a few times after that but Im back square one!

Without the charger i have tried but the phone wont switch on. I tried to do a phone call to the phone but it does not ring. Therefore the phone is off. I let the phone on before and now the phone is off and cant be swtched on.

I updated to 2.1 a while ago, but today I plugged it up to the computer and it said there was an update available. So I updated, and now my phone will not turn on. When I press the power button, the light just flashes red 3 times. I can do anything with it on the computer, becuase the computer won't recognize it while it's off.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had some problems with my X10 lately. Admittedly this was after a full-on day in the Scottish Highlands where the phone was exposed to cold and rain. Getting back into a warm car the phone started going mental, the led lights flashing like a Christmas party disco and the vibrate constantly on. After a session on the radiator I got some life out of the phone. It basically works except for the following:
- the top left power button to standby/turn the phone off does nothing (the phone switches itself on when you put the battery in)
- same for the bottom middle button to standby, although it will bring the main desktop up.
- the red led light is on permanently (this is so annoying)
I have re-flashed Gingerbread and had the phone on charge for hour upon hour to no avail. I have installed a free widget that puts the phone on standby but I can't power it down without taking the batter out.
getting the power button working and telling me if there's a way (hardware or software) to get the red LED light to go out (this means that any messages/missed calls reders the green light inoperative)

If I hold it down again, it will start playing again over the other ringtone and my only option is to use the rocker button to silence it but when I turn the volume back up it will still be playing so my only option to stop it is to restart. I did that a lot but nothing happens.So i decided to re installing the 2.1 update using PC companion. It helps,, everything was ok for one day.. My phone went out of battery and it turned off. So i plug the charger in and waited for it to restart. After restarting it, I realize there are several settings that ran away IE: My ringtone preferences and keyboard preferences. So far, I've already readjust it, But ever since the phone restarted like that, I can no longer lock my screen, not even if it times out itself after 15 seconds. and when i press and hold the power off button, instead of showing the menu for options like "Silent phone"/Flight mode"/"Shut down" it only shows power off. What can i do to get the original settings back ?
Just had a great update from Sony but when I phone my screen goes black and I had to use the power button to hang up.

I actually found it a very good idea, one of the best and most intuitive since I started to use it.ow I often do not end my calls properly and that cauese me a lot of trouble. Local SE customer support told me that it is a firmware matter and cannot be changed. Isn't there any HW buttons configurator or another way to configure the HW buttons on the phone?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy partner's Xperia Play decided not to boot this morning. (It was fine at 7.30 but by 8.30 it was dead). On pressing the power button, it vibrates for a few seconds but does not show any other sign of booting. He has tried removing the battery to boot it but to no avail. When he plugged it into his laptop, the machine failed to recognise the device. It just continuously made the device connect then device disconnect sounds. The laptop is only a couple of weeks old so I highly doubt that it's an issue with the USB ports. It does not detect the phone long enough to perform an update. Is it possible that the USB cable is faulty, or the USB port on the phone? Or could it be a compatibility issue with the laptop?
