Dec 22, 2010I'm trying to move a few files around on my memory card whilst the phone is plugged into my pc. There is over a gb of free space on the memory card. I get error: "The selected files could not be copied there is not enough free space on the device".
- I'm moving files, not copying so it shouldn't need any free space.
- Even if it did need free space there is more than enough available on the card.
How can I move files around?

Sep 25, 2010Since last 4-5 days, I am seeing that whenever I connect my phone to my laptop (using usb), the phone restart and during this time I will have access to memory card for few seconds (30 sec), after that the card gets unmounted (from PC) and I will see a warning symbol (yellow triangle) on phone's notification bar. So I am unable to copy data to and from my phone. All this trouble started since I upgraded to 2.1 Note: I have checked the memory card by putting it to another phone and it works fine.

Aug 30, 2011I have trouble with the phone recognizing my memory card - the card is SanDisk 16GB, class 10. I've lost the card I got with the phone, so I got this one. At first, it would say "Insert card", like it wasn't there, but the phone knew when I would remove it. A few times I'd get "Card damaged" message, the other times "Card is empty or not supported filesystem". 2 times I managed to get to work, but trying to take a picture crashed the camera app. I've tried formatting it several times. Right now, it's not reading the card at all. I can't check the card with my PC, since I don't have a card reader. It's getting really annoying, since I can't use the phone for almost anything. I've updated my phone to the latest software, but still nothing.

Jul 3, 2010Bought my phone recently. Still trying to sort some issues. I too have the same symbol and if you drag the top nootification browser, it keeps on about inserting an sd card. Great! didn't get one with the phone but......there is a 2gb SD adapter that you should have had with the phone. Says it's standard but...ok...how do you use it? You may have one in the box too. I haven't a clue though used to using flash drives on my computer. This has me flummoxed. I put the adapter in the USB on home computer, recognises it, but it appears nowhere on the PC. I believe you still have to get a separate micro SD card to utilise the adapter!!! So.......why says its a 2gb when itt's clearly not??
Probably not helpful but you should have an adapter but you will still need a proper SD card as there is not one supplied. Stupid really as you can't get updates on it unless you have an SD Card and its greater capacity. Unfortunately, it's the policy of these companies to give you something...and then force you to buy essential extra's to utilise the potential of the phone! Cynical or what!

Sep 2, 2012I have bought a new mobile Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini pro Sk17i and using a 4GB Micro SD Transcend card in it. All goes fine. But sometimes when I open the camera it shows an error "Memory card is write protected. Cannot edit files". The same error I get when I try to open the galler or media player. But I use a third party File manager App which shows and allow me to open the contents in the Micro SD card except image and music, video files. Other files such as .pdf, .html open in Adobe reader, HTML viewer or browser without any issue. Also this error does not appear after I restart the mobile. For some 5 - 6 usage of camera this error again appears. And the card is not damaged since I checked with connecting to the Laptop thorugh USB mode (both Mass storage and Media transfer mode) also through a card reader, everything works fine.

May 26, 2011I copied from my old phone to the PC, and then to my X8, some pictures from my contacts. They are under the DCIM folder in the SD card.When I edit a contact and choose to add a picture, I can't add those pictures. The following things happen:
If I choose to use the internal Album application to browse and select the pictures, it shows all the photos I took with the phone's camera, plus several others that I don't know where they came from. It doesn't show the pictures I just copied from the PC to the SD card. But the ones that are visible can be selected and used.If I choose to use a file browser (such as OI File Manager) to browse and select the pictures, I can browse to the SD card, under folder DCIM, and see all the pictures, but that I took with the phone and the ones I copied over from the PC. But once I select a picture it just does't go to the contact. The contact editor still show's the default picture of a silhouette, and won't use the picture I selected. So,
how can I add pictures that I moved from my PC to the SD card as contact pictures?Where are the pictures stored in internal memory? Where are all those fancy silhouettes kept?

Mar 22, 2011I got a new memory card 16GB that just keeps restarting the phone every minute or two. I formated it already. Repaired the software on PC companion while the memory card is mounted (Hence phone doesn't restart when it's mounted by the PC). Still no Joy with it. If I use the original 2GB one it does work no problem. Tried the memory card in a different phone and it works straight away.

It didn't showed me my music and photos and the cell phone asked me to format the card. I formatted it and it starts to work ok but after 2 or 3 days appears the same problem. May 25, 2011If you have a Defect Tracking System, I can seriously take up the job of Ad-Hoc tester.The first time I tried the Backup, I was connected to PC companion ( I was going to perform a repair, I wanted to back up first)Turns out that Backup doesn't see the memory card if the phone is connected through USB.
1- It should at least improve the error message and indicate that Backup operation can't be performed while connected via USB.
2- Why can't it perform the backup while connected via USB in the first place? In fact it would be great to allow the back up to store the data in a directory in the PC via PC COMPANION.

Jun 15, 2010My internal/phone memory in my x10 mini seems to be going down even though my sd card holds all my stuff. After app back up I then reinstall form sd card and the internal mem goes down, I am on about 44mb at the moment. I thought it would run from the sd card so the internal memory would not be effected as the other day a message said on my phone that memory was getting low! I have over 5gb spare.

Jun 24, 2010I have ongoing problem with my N97 and its memory card, when the card is not inserted, my phone works perfectly well, on inserting the memory card the phone will act oddly , locking up , saying that the mass memory is full (not so) etc' etc'. anyway I cannot format the card from the phone, (I dont know why) all i get is that the memory card is corrupt, (tried several cards, all give the same mesage) and there is no option to format from the phone. So I formatted the card to Fat32 via my pc and It is still the same! Someone mentioned the phone creating "Standard Folders" during formatting via the phone? does anyone know what they are? and could i download them and put them on via my PC before reinserting the card. This is just about my last shot at fixing this, unless anyone knows anthing else!
