View 9 RepliesI've been looking all around the internets for how to root my r800at running 2.3.3, to no avail. It seems like there isn't any way to do this on the new .285 build. I have tried the DooMLord, UnlockRoot &Super OneClick approaches and all have failed. I have installed the Java JDK, Android SDK, and the SE PC Companion software on my computer, so if any of that is useful, I'm willing to use it. I am a complete noob, but finally decided to root after constantly getting the "Low on space" error message every time I try to update something for the last week. I'm looking for a solution to either a) root the phone without unlocking the bootloader (which is my first choice) or b) solve the "low on space" issue. I love my XPERIA Play and changing phones is not something I'm willing to do. Hopefully you guys can help. Also, being a noob, any answers provided should be done with the mindset that you're talking to a five-year-old.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRooting (or Jailbreaking if you're used to the iPhone) is pretty awesome - it enables you to use a whole bunch of apps that are previously offlimits (such as Titanium Backup - a piece of software that will back up all of your .apks. It also enables you to remove some of the built-in bloat that Sony stuffed onto the Xperia Play which frees up a bit more space for new apps (Who honestly needs the Chinese keyboard on their phone?!)The classic way to root a phone is to first unlock the boatloader and then through that, install a version of your ROM that allows root access. However, although SE are providing a way to unlock the bootloader on a Play, this is not ideal because:Unlocking the bootloader automatically invalidates your warrantyWhen you have unlocked your bootloader, the software update function on your phone stops working as SE consider your phone to be "modified"Most phones are SIM-locked to a particular network and are therefore not even candidates to be bootloader unlocked The solution is to root your phone without unlocking the bootloader. How? A new application called Gingerbreak does it all for you! Literally, all you need to do is download the Gingerbreak .apk, run it and enjoy your new rooted Play. I can confirm that it is 100% working and took about 5 minutes from start to finish.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was having GB version of android on my Xperia Pro. I am using X-plore file manager. When I tried to go to root enabled setting from settings menu of the app. the app said root access disabled and I was never able to get root access. Yesterday I updated to ICS from PC Companion and my app. was already there on my memory card. When I opened the app I was able to go to root folder and the app. haven't said that the root access is disabled. I disabled root enabled setting from settings menu of the app. but I am worrying about wheather any other app. that I install can change my root (default) files. Also my phone is in warranty and it is said that warranty will void if you root your phone. But I have updated my phone through PC Companion and just want to confirm that my warranty won't void.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've updated X8 from 1.6 android version to 2.1 and the home (middle) button doesn't work anymore. Also the touch screen sometimes doesn't respond. I regret for updating because before this everything was working perfect. I've carefully done step by step the update according to the instructions on PC companion and on site. So is there a way to delete the 2.1 update and return to the root version 1.6?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use an app from the playstore called "vipps".
It's from a bank in norway called DNB, and it let's you transfer money near instantly from one to another.
This app refuses to run on my phone because it's rooted and have a custom rom etc.
I'm running Xtrestolite Deodexed with the included alliance firmware.
I have read somewhere about Rootcloak Plus with Cydia (what this really is, but i understood cydia is like app store for iOS jailbreaked phones?)
I'm wondering if this exsists on 5.0.2 lollipop (and how to get it / install it if it does), or if there is any other known way of bypassing this applications refusal to run on my device.
I'm on a SM-G920F (international version).
My phone recieved notification of a new software update yesterday, it also said i could update it over the air, then contradictid itself by saying i had to use the PC Companion software. Which i did use, i connected my phone, tried to update the software, but when i get to the change from MSC to MTP part, it trys to connect to my phone then says it cannot connect... ?I tried the Wi-Fi updated through the PC companion and the USB updater & they were both saying the same things...It just won't let me update and its really frustrating seeing as im following the instructions given to me...

View 9 Replies View RelatedI actually have a huge problem updating. 2 days ago I updated my wife's Xperia r800x. Now I try to update my Xperia r800x and at first it just says update failed and I try to use pc companion and update service and they both say there is no available update for your phone (Over the air update also fails). Now when I try to connect to an over the air update it says that there was an error try back again later and about 8 hours later i try again and still no luck! Pc companion and Sony update service are still saying the same thing (no available update for your phone). I have already tried the repair phone option also and this is really frustrating! I am guessing this might be a verizon problem for the over the air option but as far as sony's side i feel like i shouldn't be having this problem. Did they pull the update?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought my play like a week ago and i actually love it at first. As i continued using my phone i saw the wifi was having problems, i thought it was because of my rooter but no. I tried with other devices (iphone) and (lg optimus 2x) and they worked perfectly. There i realized it wans't my rooter's problem but my phone's wifi. My wifi fades out, it's to unstable and it connects and disconnects ramdomly for no reason. I was looking for info in the net and i found there is this 2.3.3 update and i saw the bugs it fixes and well there it was wifi stability fixed and also it has a facebook integration. I was actually pretty happy when i saw this but i tried OTA pc companion and Update service and they all say the same lastest software installed. Though it said i had the latest software it was false i still have 2.3.2 and i'm getting pretty upset with this i can't use my phone as i wish to. You know when i bought was because i already have had an xperia x10 and it was a pretty good phone though i had to use flashtool with it to install multitouch because SE never released that update here in mexico. Well evertything was fine with my xperia x10 but then the play came out and i was like whoah perfect but yeah i got it and actually it has a nice camera nice hardware i love the controls evertything but my wifi ***** and it gets me mad and upset. I expect a response why hasn't sony released 2.3.3 in mexicoo ??? and when r we having this update my last 2 phones i've had to root because the software updates were never released and i actually don't want to do this with my play i wan't to keep it as it is without rooting it. please don't tell i'll have to root or unlock the bootloader with this phone to make it from r800a into a r800i to update an enjoy the 2.3.3.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi decided to root my XPeria play and i didn't know what would be the outcome of it. Since im use to iOS i though it would install something similiar to Cydia. Well, it didn't and i checked if it had any updates and there was. So it did all of its download process and installing but it told me in the end ''Error: Update Failed''. and so i tried PC Companion and that didn't work either. So im in need of removing the ROOT out of my phone and installing a new software update on it. Currently, im on version 2.3.3.

View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know is SE has any intention of delivering the Adreno 205 driver update to the Xperia Play? The driver update was released by Qualcomm on 30th December at the end of last year and some devices (None of which are Xperia devices) have had the update which is believed to give a performance increase of upto 1.5x or even 2x in some cases depending on phone and app.I believe this has been discussed at some point for the Arc, which also has the same GPU as the Xperia Play. However would be more beneficial to the users of the Xperia Play as it would have a huge impact on how well games run on the device.
