So I got this phone today. Loving it so far except that the email seems to want to sync every few minutes. I don't want it to use all my data. How to I set it up for manual sync? Every other phone I've ever used has this option....

I can browse, gps navigation, facebook and other web based apps but not email. Is there a solution for this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have removed and re-installed messaging from my device as well as removing and adding my mailbox in the nokia email settings.I can still get PUSH email when i perform a MANUAL sync however it will not push automatically to me despite all of my settings confirmed as being set up correctly.I know i am not alone in this - my Blackberry never has this problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedA few weeks back I started noticing that my e-mail (both the standard e-mail and my e-mail exchange) won't update for hours at a time. I either need to restart the phone or do a manual sync, and then it will check my e-mails again for a while. Then it goes back to not checking. I've gone into the settings on both accounts and made sure that I've selected PUSH and also that I have not selected to only check during peak times.

Push mail, contact sync,everything else is not a problem. The prob is basically manual sync, and on top of the email app, it says that the last time it was updated was 2 months ago (this is when it first started, i installed cyan using nokia recovery tool)
I have turned off message backup, tried to find verification email, no solution.
I'm using the email app for my work email. It's using the IMAP protocol. I'm not using the corporate sync functionality. After doing a manual sync by pressing the refresh icon, I would get emails pushed to my phone fine. However, after some time emails stop getting pushed to my phone. The period of time when push seems to be working varies around a few hours. When it stops working I have to do a manual sync again in order to get push to work for another few hours.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy S3 had a menu button to the left of the Home key, and one of the choices offered was to sync the calendar. (I have it linked to an Exchange server). In the S6 there is no menu button next to the Home key, and while the calendar has a menu icon, there is no option to sync manually.
The only way to sync is through Options/Accounts/..., i.e. one has to leave the calendar, sync and come back.
What am I missing? How can they just drop this essential option? Even with a sync schedule one often wants to make sure everything is fully up-to-date when using the calendar.
Related question: is the Calendar program from Samsung or is it standard Android? I know Google offers a Calendar app on Play.
I was hoping we could setup this little thread to fill each other in on tips and tricks that aren't covered in the manual. For example, when I have my alarm set and set on alarm only for ringer, the alarm is so freaking loud it gives me a heart attack in the morning. Is there any way to turn it down before I set it? Since the ringer is set for alarm only I can not control the volume that way. Just wondering if there was a way to make it softer. Also, when its powered on and charging is there any way to get rid of the annoying little beep when it becomes fully charged? Hearing that at 2AM isn't fun. Again, I have the phone set to Alarm only and it still does that.

I'm from British Columbia Canada and am with Telus, I run Outlook 2007. I keep getting "setup could not finish" with both the automatic and manual setup using IMAP, POP and Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync when setting up through the email icon on the S2. Iphone was no problem with email.

I am trying to use Nokia Messaging (v10.2.0.4) on a 5800 (v50.0.005). I set up an IMAP mailbox to sync. My subscription with the GSM operator includes the Nokia Messaging service.I can download messages if I tap send/receive, but automatic sync does not work.If I set the sync time to Push Mail, I can see a green ring on the screen. I assume it means there is a live connection. But messages do not arrive.If I set the sync time to 15 minutes, the ring becomes grey and crossed. Every 15 minutes it changes to green and rotates. I assume it means new messages are downloaded. But they are not.
Again, if I tap Send/receive, new messages arrive.I also tried to configure a Gmail mailbox. The situation is the same. Manual send/receive works, automatic sync does not.How could I get automatic sync to work?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy company has recently switched from iPhone to the S5. I received over 200 emails per day so my email is set up with an inbox and several folders. All of the folders are set to push mail from our server. After selecting all of the folders to push email it will work for about a day. When I wake in the morning only email in my inbox is showing. All of the emails in the folders are no longer showing and the settings are all changed to manual. It seems like the email settings are resetting themselves nightly. I have tried deleting and re-adding the account and turning off power save.

All is fine and snappy etc, but I'm not sure if I have turned anything off, because waving my hand over the screen doesn't seem to do anything any more? It was working fine. I have been playing around with the settings to get the phone to my liking - I may of accidentally turned something off, I'm not sure.
