I recently got a new Verizon phone and have stopped using ATT. As a result, I still have my old ATT cell phone. I was wondering if its possible to just buy a SIM card with a few hundred minutes on it and then use the phone whenever I needed an extra phone. I don't want to have to pay per day or every use type of thing, I just want a phone that can call out, dont even really need it to call to.

When trying to top up the pre-paid card in my N900: *141* number of pin #, when I press the call button, I get this message: incorrect number. It seems as if the phone doesnt recognize the * and considers it a normal phone number I am trying to call. I would appreciate some advise to have the N900 accept the code so that I can top up the pre-paid card?

My credit card expired and I didn't want to renew it so now I don't have a credit card. Is there anyway to get my iTunes account activated again? Would a prepaid credit card work? I googled it but got mix responses, and after being on hold with apple for 40 knobs my phone died earlier. Anyways, I made a new account that works, but now I can't dl all the apps I already paid for on my original account.

Network: O2 Wireless
Carrier: AT&T 5.5
Modem Firmware: 5.11.07
OS: 3.1.2 (7d11), currently unlocked & jailbroken with blacksn0w
Here is my desired outcome:
Use O2 prepaid SIM with the new OS 4.0, get the push alerts for my apps. I don't really care if I can jailbreak it or not, I don't have any use for the rock or cydia, so this is secondary.
Here is what I do know:
O2 wireless (prepaid, US), runs over network, was told by O2 wireless CSR that any unlocked phone may use the O2 SIM. When I was a subscriber on the network I received all my push alerts, now I only receive my email push alerts and they are sometimes delayed.
My question:
Since O2 wireless runs over the network, do I still need to have my iPhone 3g unlocked? Or do I need to unlock it again? Will I loose my unlock (with the 3.0 upgrade my unlock remained) once I update to 4.0? Will I now receive app push alerts?
What is the best U.S. prepaid carrier i can use for an iPhone 3G? I currently can't use my plan so i have to use prepaid for a few months at the max. I don't need data. (although data would be nice )

Pre-req - an unlocked iPhone
1. Buy the cheapest AT&T Go Phone package from any electrical store, I bought a Nokia 2320 from Best Buy for USD30.
DO NOT PUT THE SIM CARD IN THE DEVICE IT CAME WITH
2. Go to att.com/gophone and choose "Activate"
3. Enter the SIM number, any IMEI that isn't your iPhone IMEI, name and email address, plus a ZIP code, and AT&T will activate the SIM and assign it a number
4. Call the AT&T top up line, press 0 to go through to an operator. Give them your newly assigned US phone number (from step 3) and ask for the USD19.99 100MB data package feature.
5. They will take your non-US debit/credit card, and bill you USD19.99.
6. Now you can put your SIM card in your iPhone. Reboot it.
7. Now you should have AT&T as your carrier. Using wifi, visit www.unlockit.co.nz and download and activate the US AT&T APN profile.
8. Reboot again, and you should have 3G data service on your iPhone.
(I found a lot of conflicting info on this, but I've just done this and it worked first time!)
I bought a locked 3Gs but am a TMO user. Until the next hack comes out, using it as an iTouch. If I were to buy a prepaid AT&T sim card, would it work for just voice in the locked 3Gs? Simple calls in/out, no data requirements, text, MMS, etc.

I have an Xperia Play phone, but i dont want to pay the REDICULOUS bill verizon wants to charge me. Is there any way i could set this phone up to be used with prepaid plans? I know Straight Talk uses verizons towers and has an android phone. I dont care if the method would be legal or not, as long as it would work, i mean i paid for the phone, if there is some way it has that functionality, modified or not, i should be able to use it.

When phone is connected to usb the card mounts and I can see it from the PC and copy files to it. When I try to browse the card from the phone, it is not found. I thought I had formatted it FAT32, but of I look at card properties in file explorer on the PC, it says 'File System: Generic hierarchical'. So I'm thinking perhaps it is not formatted properly. If I am to try another format, is it best to let the phone format it, or do it in a card reader on the PC first? I'm worried if I let the phone do it I may wipe my internal SD by mistake.

View 6 Replies View RelatedA couple of weeks ago I bought an Unlocked Samsung U900 Soul from ebay and it worked perfectly with my T-mobile service here. Then yesterday I decided that I wanted to put java games on it. So I found this video online: [URL]and followed all of the directions. The games didn't work but my phone was still working. Later that night I turned off the phone, took out the sim card, and put the sim card in my other phone which I keep on all night. Then I woke up this morning, put the sim card in the U900 and turned it on. But the screen now keeps saying "Please insert SIM card" and the screen is also showing that I have service bars. This might mean that it is still unlocked. I am guessing that the procedures in the video had to do something with the phone now not recognizing the sim card.

I do the regular 'USB utilites -> Connect storage to PC' routine, but all I get on the PC is the external card.
How can I access the 'internal' SD card without physically removing the external one? BTW, I'm on official, non-rooted ICS 4.0.4.
