Samsung Galaxy S II :: Disconnecting The USB Connection?
Nov 19, 2011
Just upgraded my S2 to XWKI4 via Kies.Since then I can't see a way of safely disconnecting the USB connection on the phone when it's connected to the PC.reviously I have pressed the home button to disconnect but I can only see a USB symbol at the top of the phone display now. Do I just pull the cable now?
I read that to properly disconnect the X10 USB connection in Windows, you first need to click the 'safely remove device' menu entry in Windows, and then tap the 'Turn off USB storage' option in the phone. Now I've already done this in Windows 7, but I use Linux Ubuntu 11.04 as my primary OS, and in there as soon as I click the 'safely remove device' option, the phone icon in PC disappears (as it happens when I safely remove other devices), as does the 'Turn off USB storage' option in the phone. Is this also a safe way to disconnect the USB connection for X10, or might I corrupt something in the phone by doing so?
I have tried at least 5 different bluetooth and they all keep disconnecting, even when I bought a higher end bluetooth. I sent it back for repairs at least 2 times and now it will be going back again today for the same problems plus a new one ...it won't charge up. Having this phone is very bad for my business. Why can't someone repair my phone instead of sending me someone elses troubled phone.
I've just got my new Nokia X6 a few days ago, and thought I'd play around a little with it. I then spotted an issue where I wasn't able to browse the internet (or any other internet application for that matter) without disconnecting the WiFi connection every time I want to load a new website or load a new page in the Ovi Store. The Router I am using is only running 54 Mbps, and I'm now using it with the password disabled, just to try if that changed anything, it didn't. I havn't been able to try using a 3G connection yet, as my service provider has somehow failed at supplying me with it at the moment.
I have just got an Incredible S and think its great. However I am having bluetooth connection issues with my handsfree kit. It keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. The connection only seems to last 2 to 3 minutes. I have tried it with two different kits one a Motorola T505 and the second a BlueAnt S4. Both had the same problem. I then tried a car with a factory fitted bluetooth system and it did the same.
my galaxy s2 has stopped me looking at the media files on my phone though my PC. everytime i try to transfer a video or open the photos folder it just drops connection. ive tried it though kies too all latest updates installed. but as soon has i transfer a film or music it just drops, then reconnects asking me what i want to do.
For some reason i cannot connect to the mobile internet when the connection is showing 3g. It will only connect when it is showing H or H+.
Also for some strange reason, the internet connection wont work at all if i havent used it for a few hours. To get back internet you have to go to flight mode and back or switch off and on to get back online.
My new Galaxy s2 is having trouble connecting to my routers Wifi, a netgear DG834GUv5. I can get it to connect fine if I disable the routers security entirely, but I would not want to keep that up at all. I would like to be able to connect at home. I've been looking up things on the internet for days now, and am getting desperate.
Yesterday i used the the mobile data connection just as normal. I downloaded from the store and everything. Then i was back in wlan. I tried Fring. I wanted to try Fring also on 3G or Edge or HDSPA or whatever comes out from my handy and goes into the air ^^ I don't know anymore. So I turned off my wlan and was down. No internet anymore and even there was no icon in the toolbar.
I turned my phone on and off, unistalled every app i installed since the last time it worked, which was just an hour before that. The things i installed were: A brightness widget (appears under volume controll if you press the volume buttons. I forgot the name.) and "Quicksettings", which leeded to uninstalling the first mentioned unit. After that didn't help either, i changed the card in my phone with another from the same provider. It didn't work. In the same move i put my card to another smartphone and got a connection. Conclusion: Either my phone is misconfigured (which i hope for) or it's broken (which would suck but i have warrenty left).
I even tried to let my provider send me the right connection data and saved them. Nothing...I know there is the way of getting back to factory settings, but i only want to try that if i'm running out of possibilities. And of course i don't want to lose my app data. my phone is not rooted now and i know i have to, to save my app data and apps (which sucks. 1-0 for the iPhone). I you have only ideas that could be done by rooting my phone i would do so, but i would rather avoid that because of the 'maybe warranty loose'.
I've just got a new SGS2. I've paired it with a VW Passat from 2011. Everything is working fine except transferring the contact list, only around half of the contacts get transferred -- 125 of 205. I can't find out why some contacts get transferred and others don't. Before I had a Palm Pre 2 and it worked just fine... all contacts would transfer perfectly.
I've unpair the connection several times in the Bluetooth settings, delete the connection in the car and pair again but didn't solve the problem. I've also update some of the key contacts that don't get synced, forced a reload of the contact list in the car menu but nothing works.
Since upgrading to ICS, connecting to my car stereo via bluetooth causes the phone to reboot itself. At first i thought it was just whilst streaming music was causing it as i could play 3 or 4 tracks before the phone just shuts down and reboots.
However, today i just had it connected for the phone function only and the same thing happened after 5 - 6 minutes.
The stereo is a Sony MEX-BT3900U which worked perfectly prior to the upgrade.
Carried out the upgrade using Odin3 v1.85 and flashed following one of the guides on the forum. Everthing else appears to be working fine and i quite like the new look etc, but if i can't find a solution to the phone rebooting itself think i will go back to GB.
I tried to check updates to my Phone.Settings -> About Phone -> Software Update -> Update (Check for Updates)When i do this immediately i get a pop-up notifying "Connecting to server ..." Later after few seconds im getting another pop-up saying "Connection failed"I have a Samsung account and my SocialHub works perfectly fine.Anybody facing this issue? Any idea about how to resolve this?
The problem with the SGS II is that there's no connect to PC setting. The other problem is that to connect to as a mass storage device, you have to manually do this every time - In my car, the phone repeatedly beeps at me until I enter the USB connect screen, which is very annoying.
I have successfully 'paired' my new S2 to my Ford Focus audio system, and it makes and receives phone calls fine - hands free. However - the current settings do not transfer my 'contacts' list to the car system. Every time I turn on the car ignition I get a little 'tune' from the phone, and a notification that says (something like) 'Ford audio would like to share your address book' and an option to 'OK' or cancel. If I click 'OK' my contacts are listed on the car system. There is also another window which says 'Do not ask again'Has anyone else had this issue - because I am getting fed up with having to allow the phone and car to share my contacts list every time I turn on the ignition.
My Samsung GS2 runnig on 2.3.4 has developed a problem. It keeps loosing Wifi connection at home. It connects then disconnects. It is becoming frustrating and annoying. I have uninstalled all apps and still no solution. I know others on here have had similar problems has a solution been found. I have switched the Wifi sleep to never. I have installed wifi fix which resolves it temporarily but then the connection falls off.
Whenever I try to run the android update it says "Searching for server" then report, "Server connection failure". This goes running though either wireless or 3g connection. The SII works fine downloading/uploading everything/everywhere else and on any connection, it has me baffled. It has worked before as it did a couple of updates when I first bought this really great phone!
My previous phone was HTC Wildfire S (stock Android 2.3.3) and I was able to receive and send MMS with data connection turned off. Simply, when I send MMS phone automatically turn on data connection. Same, when somebody send MMS to me, Wildfire S automatically turn on data connection and retrieve MMS. Now I am using Samsung Galaxy S2. I have to keep data connection always on if I want to send and receive MMS. I don't want data connection to be always on because I haven't flat data plan. I tried Quick Setting app. It change APN for internet and keeps data connection always on (do not modify MMS settings). At this way I can use MMS normally, but my battery drain for just 8 hours!
Ever since the last firmware update my Galaxy S2 keeps deciding to tell me that I am connected to my wifi network at home. It's extremely annoying because I could be in the middle of a game and this message appears. How I can stop it from being displayed??
I can't connect to kies, I have sgs2 and everytime I plug in it keeps coming up with (reconnect the device in samsung kies (pc studio) mode, current connection mode not supported).
Have just got my new X6 and its great except that i am having problems with my connection to my bluetooth car kit. It connects fine and has paired with it but it seems to disconnecting every 25 seconds or so and then reconnecting 25 seconds later. Its driving me bananas cos each time it does it the radio cuts out. If i am on a call it seems to keep connection. I fell i may have missed a setting somewhere but cant find anything about this.
I've always seemed to have had problems with my Galaxy phones when connecting them to a PC and considered going to another phone before I upgraded to my S6.
This is a problem that has happened with my S2/S3/S6 with both different leads and different computers. Connecting it to update or transfer music, files etc. can take a while as it keeps disconnecting all the time.
I'm not a fan of iPhones but my girlfriend never seems to have a problem when connecting hers to this and other computers.
My S6 connects fine to my car. However, it keeps disconnecting even if im not using it. I didn't have this issue before on my Note 4. This is a software or hardware issue before i return it ?
I'm having this problem on my tmobile s6 where my phone screen will freeze randomly but it only happens anytime i lose connection to wifi. When the phone unfreezes, it always shows that I now connected to my wifi network. I am on xtrestolite rom (tmo version) , stock kernel....
Having issues with 5GHz wifi becoming unresponsive and needing to be turned off and immediately back on to kick it into working? I've got Smart Network Switch and Download Booster (switch to mobile data if wifi is no good; use wifi + LTE) both switched off, so they shouldn't be a factor..
I even switched them back on and then off just to be sure that they were in fact off. After a painful day spent trying to transfer data to the new phone, and installing all of my usual apps - having to disable and renable wifi at least 50 times throughout the day - I decided to switch from using my 5GHz wifi to 2.4GHz (same router), and it now seems fine. Switching back to 5, and I end up back with the same result - wifi will work fine for a while before stopping.
My Galaxy S5 has no issue using the 5GHz (and neither do any other devices I have), so it doesn't appear to be the router (Asus RT-AC87U) at fault unless there's just some compatibility issue with the S6.
