Samsung Galaxy S II :: No Blacklist On ICS Update?
Aug 21, 2012
Back before this update, i blacklisted a couple numbers from calling me. Simply by long pressing contact in phonebook and choosing add to blacklist. After the update, i am unable to access the blacklist to remove these numbers so they are not able to contact me. I've tried settings>call settings and that's as far as i get since there is no rejection list or anything of the sort. I've tried deleting the contacts thinking that would fix it but no help. Did the blackest just disappear with the update? Im stuck and extremely frustrated. Will a factory reset fix this (meaning clear the blacklist ) or am i just really screwed?
Just updated via Samsung Apps the camera firmware to a CDE11 or something version. Took 4 minutes to update and flash this firmware. I wonder what exactly it changed in the camera firmware? Hopefully improved things or bug fixes.I will test a few videos and see if the bitrate has changed or not.
So I live in Sweden and bough my phone in June. Had KE2 on it and wanted to update to KE7 with Kies but it wasn't available at the time, so I used a guide on this site to update it manually through odin.
Anyway after that I went away to a place with no good internet connection for 2 months and didn't really keep up to date with this site. Now I'm back home and want to root this phone to improve battery life and get the wiimote app to work.
1A. Since I updated to KE7 using Odin, and not Kies, is it dangerous to root the phone?
1B. Do I need to debrand and update through Kies if a new update is available?
2. Will the Wiimote app work if I root the phone?
3. Is there a guide to follow on what to avoid after rooting so I don't brick the phone?
I have been told I can update to 2.3.4 using Kies. I have downloaded kies and updated it to the latest version but can not see where or how to update to 2.3.4?
I have visited various websites which advise on how to update by rooting the phone, but I was hoping it would be more straight forward than that.
my samsung galaxy s2 broke down on me a week ago. How this happened was that I saw the ota update being available for downloading so I proceeded to download the update. Now, when it got the update and it automatically started to install, The phones battery died (inthe middle of the installation). when i charged it up and turned it on an error message comes up after the samsung logo saying the package installer got an error and now wont let me use the phone at all ( it freezes up after the message). I tried restarting it but the same thing happened. the phone is now unusable. i visited a phone stor asking if they could repair it but no, they couldnt. what to do? send the phone in/swap it out?
After the latest gingerbread KE7 update a few days ago the option to change the messaging theme seems to have disapeared ? im sure it was in the settings menu in the sms app
Well im back again and getting kies to work is annoying, kies is up to date, i follow everything(i believe i have) to the letter to get the phone to connect and still no success.
S 2 firmware I'm looking for some help i have just had my phone replaced after it was stolen. I'm wanting to updated the firmware with Kies but it says.your current device's firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies.
current firmware version: PDA:LPJ / PHONE:LPJ / CSC:LPJ (XXX)
Okay. I'll see if this posts. I am using Android 2.1 and AT&T told me I could "easily" upgrade to Android 4 using KEIS. I downloaded the program, updated to Version 2.3.2.12074_13. Installed okay. I connected and got the message "device not supported by KEIS 2."
PC is running Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 (64bit version) I have Kies version is 2.0.2.11071_128, The upgrade starts ok and runs until the phone displays 'Downloading...' at which point I get the message 'PC failed to recognise the mobile phone.' and says to disconnect phone, remove battery, restart phone and try again. This i have done several times but the same thing happens every time.
I accepted doing it, so it backed-up some of my data and started the installation. The progress bar remained at 0% for more than 40 minutes and I became suspicious that it was not working. I tried interrupting with the cancel button and that didn't work, so the only way was to remove the cable (yes there were warnings not to do it... still I assumed that this scenario would have been foreseen). Kies woke up with the interruption and asked if I wanted to do an emergency firmware recovery, I said yes and proceeded with it. It gave me some instructions to switch off the phone, replace battery, and remove the cable. I switched the phone off and on again and there appeared a symbol representing the loss of connection to the PC, so I re-connected. The recovery started fine, but half way through it, it failed due to a problem on the phone. Since then the phone is dead. It won't start anymore.
I wanted to update to ICS Android 4.0 on my Orange branded S2 NFC. I was told by Orange support to download Kies. I did, had a few problems getting the phone to connect to the software including a few driver crashes. After it finally connected, it offered me ICS which I accepted. But every time I have downloaded the update it then fails saying "Failed to run firmware upgrade. Unknown error occurred."
I have uninstalled kies and the driver from my PC (windows 7 home premium 32bit) and reinstalled to no effect. Turned off the phone, taken out the battery, turned off wi-fi and data.
If it wasn't for the fact the orange "signal boost" app has been quite useful in my dead zone of a flat I would root the phone and unbrand it and download the update off the net.
I'm looking for a decent music player and have tried several apps out, but in the process I decided I didn't like my music files being in /sdcard/media/music as I'd loaded 'em initially... So I moved them to /external_sd/music, only to find some apps wouldn't allow me to access the external card...
So I moved them all back, to /sdcard/music/ now, and only ONE app out of three will actually find and play them. The other apps are convinced all my old files still exist, no matter how many times I verify that both the SD card and internal SD memory have had those files removed.
So it seems that there's some sort of internal OS-level library or database of my music files that's not being refreshed no matter how many times I reboot the phone or rescan all my libraries. I can find the new files fine, select them in a file browser and play them with any installed music app (so I know it's POSSIBLE for them to see the files!) but they simply won't add them to their library or delete the old ones.
I am located in the UK and have a Samsung Galaxy S2. Purchased from Phones 4 U and is on the Orange Network but does not have any orange bloatware installed. The firmware is:
I was wondering who will supply my update? I cannot find anything that relates to my phone. There is an reference to Orange. Will it come via Orange and if so will it be filled with Orange bloatware? which I do not want or will it come via a different route such as Europe/Poland etc...
trying to find out what this camera update actually does. My camera worked perfectly well but when I was on the Samsung Apps I noticed the camera firmware update which I downloaded. ow I have a little icon on my application folder and just wonder if this is a genuine app? and if so why is it not uploaded when I look for a software update on the phone or via Kies. Strange thats it is in the Samsung Apps? Can I remove this app by uninstalling or has it been flashed to the ROM?When I loaded it it took 4 mins and I had to reboot the phone when I did this it cam
i know android are going to update all us s2 users with ICS round about march time so ive heard from a few sites so what i was wondering how will the update happen?
will i have to do a update from my laptop or will it be directly from the updates on my phone ?

I decided to update my samsung s6 after the update thing had reminded me three times. But it won't stop going from the samsung screen, to the AT&T scree, to the optimizing apps screen, and loading maybe 12/65 apps, and then going black, and then back to the samsung screen. I don't know what to do, because it's been doing this over and over again for more than 5 minutes.
i am a new mmember!i have a small problem with my SGS II i cant find the update settings!i am going in settings->informations but it don't have "check for update"...also i cant connect my phone with my pc via Samsung Kiess.
I have been having intermittent problems with fast battery drain before and after upgrading my Samsung Galaxy S2 to ICS. In fact the reason why I upgraded to ICS is to see if it would fix it. Most of the articles I have read on the net are about people who have problems after the upgrade, which is why I am left puzzled. Often I leave my phone unplugged during the night and it has almost completely drained by the morning. here is some more information:
- In the battery stats my Android OS percentage is always high (60% +)
- I am always careful with trying to preserve battery life, for example setting the backlight to minimum brightness and closing applications which are running in the background
- I have gone for months where the battery has been fine, but cant seem to spot a trend
Last night, my carrier pushed the Device management update to my SII. I accepted to install and since then the handset is stuck on a white background screen with "Software Update", a 0% status bar and "loading..." and thats all. This is been there since 4-5 hours now. It eventually drained the entire battery. When I charged it and powered it on, it still comes back to the "Software Update" screen.I tried to do a hard reset with both the volume button and the power button. It still comes back to the white screen.
I updated my phone a few days ago (now ver 4.0.3). After this I can no longer connect my headseth (Plantronics m50) with my phone. It's listed, but I get the message that the password/pin is incorrect, and there's nowhere I can type it either. I haven't changed anything and there's no place on my settings where I can reset or retype password?
have had s2 shv-120s for 6 mths got from mobicity(aust) great phone but cant update software, only with SKT USIM ,it also has many unwanted korean apps. also cant send or receive mms, have tried many apns. am i stuck with this problem or will rooting/installing roms fix this?
I tried to check updates to my Phone.Settings -> About Phone -> Software Update -> Update (Check for Updates)When i do this immediately i get a pop-up notifying "Connecting to server ..." Later after few seconds im getting another pop-up saying "Connection failed"I have a Samsung account and my SocialHub works perfectly fine.Anybody facing this issue? Any idea about how to resolve this?
I know my way around PC hardware and OS's.My problem sarted when I went to the T-mobile update. Phone stuck on "downloading update...", blue text on white background. Unable to boot into recovery, but was able to get into download mode. I found the correct ICS firmware update .tar file, but Odin 1.85 will not work. It always sticks on Setup Connection. Others fixed this by using differnt USB port and/or cable. Tried all 10 USB ports, nada; don't have another cable, but I'm out to get one this morning. I assume if I can get to download mode I'm not totally bricked. Only way I can get into d/l mode is to remove the battery, otherwise phone just boots to white update screen.I'm looking at a $200 brick! Wonder if I should just walk in to a T-mobile outlet and demand a fix.
