Samsung Galaxy S II :: Can Turn Off The 'Siri' Shortcut?
Jun 11, 2012
A few times a day, I press the home key and my phone asks "What would you like to do?" I guess there's either a fault with my home button or I'm double-pressing it without realizing. Can I turn off this shortcut?
i am using S6 and somehow or rather this bottom right corner keep popping out this half semi circle with all the quick settings tools. it seems to be happens when i swipe up from the bottom right corner of the screen.
I have a bit of a strange problem - my SGSII is about 2 months old now. Last month, when I was in poor signal areas, the phone automatically went to 3G and 2G. This month, it won't work.'ve tried everything I can think of - . Turned off Wi-Fi2. Long pressed the power button to make sure that data network mode is on3. Went to Settings -> Wireless & Network -> Mobile Networks. My 'use packet data' is checked. Network mode is GSM/WCDMA (Auto mode) is selected, although I have also selected the 'GSM only' and 'WCDMA only' options to no avail. or the 'Access Point Names' option, I only have one option which is 'PAYG WAP', which is strange because I am on a monthly contract!
Where in the menu is located the on off of the Data transfer? In my Hero there was an widget do do this, on the SII I only find the ones for the WIFI,BT and GPS, what kind of widget do you recomend for it?
I`m having this strange issue that happens regardless of what battery I put in the phone it seems. If I turn my phone off and want to turn it back on I cannot regardless of the battery level of the phone. I keep getting the exclamation mark start screen whenever I try after turning my phone off.
Just like the one below (it is not my phone in the picture, I just want to show you the exclamation mark warning message I get everytime), indicating it is overheated, but it can`t be overheated EVERY time I try to turn the phone off and back on? [URL]
However if I turn the phone off and plug in the charger I have no problem at all.
My phone wont stay off, i turn it off but it reboots automatically, also the car mode keeps activating randomly/randomly thinks it is charging and connected to a pc.
I updated it to the latest firmware via kies as well. Edit: Phone is not rooted and alarm clock plus is also another app that randomly starts.
Is there a way to completely turn off the speaker temporarily on the SGS2? If I put it on vibrate or silent, and go into an app (or accidentally press the home button twice - damn that button!) it will still play the sounds. But..I don't want the speaker off all the time, just at certain times of the day.
I used my phone at 2pm today and when I left it it had good battery life left. Two hours later when I checked it there was no life at all and I cant get it to switch on. I've tried charging, taking the battery and sim card out but nothing. theres no lights of sound or anything - no life at all !!!!
I have my phone configured to use Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync which retrieves emails, calendar & tasks.I only want the calendar to be retrieved and not the emails.I can't see a way to do this, although my previous HTC Hero on Android 2.1 was able to do this.
I found many games include: greedy pigs, catoon defense 2, battle heart, etc ... (I purchased from android market) will randomly freeze during the game play if I turn on the sound! However, if I turn off the sound (I mean turn off the sound option in game, not mute the media volume), then all games runs without any problem.
Not every game will have this problem. For example, angry birds, finding difference, air attack, etc... No problem at all. It looks to me that most of defence games and real time strategy games are in this case. It's just the game itself freezed, not the whole system. I can still use "home" to go back to the main screen then kill the game app.
I'm using vodafone version s2 and already updated to the lastest firmware.
When writing a text, sometimes I accidentally press some random keys on the keyboard and suddenly the sms is send. I manually tried to find these keys but couldn't. Is there any advice on how I can turn the shortcut off? it can be really annoying sometimes.
While I was charging the phone with lead to my PC i turned the phone on, Then blue light LED came on and nothing else happens next.. i have tried all the buttons, and everything fails. I even wiped the Data on the phone too!
When i try pressing the different buttons to start the phone it comes up as normal with samsung galaxy s6 powered as android then after that just black screen with the blue led light stuck on, but when i charge it it goes to charge screen when i press power button and down..
I was just playing a game, the phone got hot and turned off. I let it cool, it wouldn't turn on again. I noticed the blue light in the upper left stayed on and the phone was pulsing/vibrating a bit. I have been charging the phone for the last hour thinking that might be the issue. No. The blue light is still on. I tried removing the battery and SD card for 10 seconds before retrying to boot my phone. Nothing abut blue light and some pulses from time to time.
I was experiencing slowdowns on applicationss accessing the SD card for storage and caching. Among them are browsers like Dolphin, applications like Twidroyd, and news applications like Huffington Post. It helped with some of the applications by setting their storage options to internal memory, but the best solution so far, without rooting your phone and adding some MODACO mod, is to go to Settings, go to Managing Applications, go to Running Services, look for something that mentions DRM, then kill it.
Killing this does not harm the system, as I tested this already, and it speeds up access to applications that cache on the internal SD card. Of course, another way is to disable all SD access, and everything flies. But I find killing DRM services works well. DRM services is not part of the standard Android set, since I don't find this on the HTC phones, so killing it won't harm anything. Killing off Samsung's own slow ware such as Daily Briefings and the social Feeds widget may also help speed up the UI further, but on the other hand, these widgets can also be useful for some people.
My phone for reasons best known to itself infrequently if not rarely reboots and then plays a loud piece of music (not one I have downloaded!) and I cannot seem to mute it or turn it off until its run it's 30 second course. This may not sound a long time but it is when you are in a meeting of quiet place and other than removing the battery, which would defeat the whole point I cannot find out how to a) silence it, b) turn it off for future reboots or c) why my phone feels the need to restart on a regular basis.
I got a Samsung Galaxy S5 yesterday (moving over from a windows phone) and it's taking some getting used to. The lack of a 'silent' function is annoying, but the part that is strange is the fully charged notification.
I suffer from insomnia and I finally got to sleep last night, only to be woken up by the phone vibrating to let me know it was fully charged. I wasn't able to get back to sleep for hours then, and I'm dreading it happening again tonight! How can I turn this notification off?
For one weekn now the display won`t turn off while recieveing or giving calls on my sgs2. I know the proximity sensor is responsible for this, but it seems to work properly, as i tested it in LCD test mode (dialing *#0*#). I`ve tried restarting it or looking for any possible setting, but nothing works.
